The story of my Gestahlts and then some

Slowly but surely I'm bulding up my collection of gestahlts from the G1 universe (with the exception of 1 Superlink Superion). Most recently I just completed Defensor and I am but leaping for joy of the accomplishment. :KREMZEEK:

1.Defensor: Already owned Hotspot for nearly 20 years. It is the Japan Takara version but with plastic shield. He has languished limbless that way for quite a long time :-(

So as you may have noticed, I made several posting on how to determine the authenticity of the other parts, especially in ebay. Luckily I managed to snag all 4 limbs(3 were mint but loose with unapplied labels, the other was MOSC) at such a good price. I also learned that the Euro versions of the series(the tail end around the early 90's) didn't sport the rub signs.

Then with abated breathe, finally formed Defensor........the feeling of euphoria was simply indescribable. For a figure, unlike the others(later on them)is very stable..........though still a brick

2.Piranacon re-issue: Need I say more? Despite his short comings from a verrrry old mold, suprisingly, he too is stable standing up though the "Targetmaster" option of his(I used the shark monster)keeps on falling off his fist. I'd be very happy if Hasbro would have at least molded Snaptraps' head black like the original (honorable mention to his chromed sword)

3.Bruticus Encore: Who would love a bunch of military vehicles that not only change to robots but also form another bigger bad@ss punk? Overall, I really like him. Stable when standing though the mold degradation is really distracting(especially on Onslaught). Another thing, Onslaughts'shoulde won't lock in place like the vintage. Mine was the USA version so sans the launcher gimmick. Also own a Takara Blast-off so as you can see, another incomplete set. Thanks to the Encore release (which included that laucher gimmick) and his back pack canons aren't hollow too. Not to mention the fact that he can now combine nearly all his weapons like Landcross (like Baldigus IIRC)and Vortex can now use his blades as a melee weapon.

4. Superion G1:/Superlink: The former I got complete pre-owned. He was the USA version hence no launcher gimmick. Great chrome pieces but his freakin' legs are so wobbly. #-o Plus the lot of his die-cast paints have a lot of chipping. My Superlink version on the other hand is just as wobbly. Plus Afterburner's cockpit won't lock on his crotch(no pun intended). Good thing FP made the upgrade set, now he looks even more better.

5. Devastator: Need I say more? I'm gonna get the CrazyDevy hip upgrade as soon as I can find some extra cash. Sure it ain't necessary but the original frame that makes up his legs simply is hokey. Still he's still one of the best of the bunch.

6. Micro Gestahlts: I managed to snagged the re-issues by Takara.

Six-turbo: great robot mode but his chest armor keeps on getting in the way of full arm articulation. It is quite ingenius that his kibbles transform into a jet like vehicle.

Sixliner/Sixtrain:: basically the same with exception of the head and pain apps. Who wouldn't like trains? only wished they came with tracks like Raiden

Sixbuilder:Devastator wanabee. Another great set.Like trains, construction machines really digs it!

Sixwing:: This one keeps on getting a way. I hope to be able to find the re-issue some of these days.

7.Landcross:In my carelessness, I lost the opportunity to get the original boxed set. :BANG_HEAD: So I just couldn't let the re-issue pass me by. He was "superlink" before his time. If I have any complainst on him, he reminds me of Superion's woobly legs. Honoroble mention to his weapons that can be cobbled together to form his Earth gun.

8.Predaking USA metal version: I got him complete MISB at a flea market nearly 20 or so years ago for about $30. Never liked him back then, but I really wanted to own a complete gestahlt. Little did I realize that he is one of the hly grails of TFfandom. Freaking heavy too.

9. Raidenwell, his Diaclone version anyway. I was so stupid back then that I lost his "pilots". :BANG_HEAD: Though his connection accessories are complete, I still lack the two bullet trains to complete him.

10.Menasor: Another of my disappointments (which hopefully will be rectified soon)He is the opposite of my Defensor. Whereas the latter I owned Hotspot, Menasor, I sadly lack Motormaster. Been searching here and there so hopefully I'll be able to find one.

The combiner i absolutely had to have was Computron.

He really is one of my favourites. SUper stable and good design. I like the asymmetry of him.

I was lucky enough to get him complete at a flea market for 40 bucks and in GREAT shape. Just needed to get Strafes' orange cannon things that stick out of Computrons shoulder to make an aesthetically complete Computron.

Man i love that combiner. I even went ahead and bought the Reprolabels upgrade set for him. He looks even better with the colourfull chest plate.

The others i got are G1 Predaking(still missing left fist), Abominous,Superion and newschool Superion and Bruticus with their respective FP add ons.

I frakin love Abominous too.........well.....i actually like the Terrocons separated better and in their alt modes. That's how i got em displayed. In a circle like they're gonna FIGHT EVRYBODY!

Lookin forward to getting Magmatron in the mail soon too.

Actually......now that i'm reading this. I'm pretty lacking in the gestalt department.

I love combiners, the greatest concept ever in transformers. I have even branched out into the Brave series to get my gestalt fix. Hell, even got puzzler from go-bots and am still looking for Monsterous. I have all G1 combiners except for monstructor. He is just too small to justify the price he goes for. However I will probably break down and get him some day. I also have the Landcross reissue and I needs me some Road Caesar. My new holy grail is Liokaiser and I promise you I will own him some day. Oh yes I will.

You have both Abominus and Computron? I'm gonna hunt for those two later. Since were' talking about gestahlts, Magmatron too can be consider one right?

Well, I was lucky to be able to snag one together with Big Convoy waaaaaaay back in 2005.(That before I knew about ebay)

I wish Takara would re-issue Sixwing, Leokaiser and Road Cesar and Dinoking too. Not really interested in Guard City and Battle Gear, imho just glorified repaints.

Oh ****.....totally forgot.

I also have a G1 Piranacon and the ultra dissapointing 2010 Exclusive one.

G1 Piranacon was a mission for me for a looooong time. I was hunting for deals left right and centre for a couple years to get really nice figures and at a good deal. I absolutely love the concept of Piranacon ( all sea monsters for the most part) and the colours are frakin amazing. Those colours were so outside the box and very aesthetically pleasing to me.

Plus a KO devastator with a mix of genuine G1 limbs.

Looking for a Menasor and Bruticus and the moment as the next project. I keep seeing G1 Bruticus around my town in flea markets and comic shops but he's always REALLY loose. SO the hunt continues :D

I agree best concept/gimmick ever. I am slowly collecting the G1 gestalts. I have the original predaking and piranacon complete. I need airraid, fireflight, vortex, sinnertwin, rippersnapper, all the stunticons, all but 1 of protectobots, and the armor for computron and abominus. I'm not sure if I'll get Menasor yet(might instead opt for the energon constructicons).
I know now not to bother picking up the leader/mainbody of the group unless its complete. Hunting down all the armor is annoying and expensive.

I think my favorite is Predaking, because the predacons are all 'deluxe' size robots and not little pegheads. I pray they would come out with a similar set in the classics line.

Oh.....and i have a Slamdance and a Squawkbox.

Both pretty neat but Slamdance is faaaaar better in combined mode. Squawkbox just sorta looks contrived. If only he looked like the picture TFWiki has for him. His legs are too short and his torso is too long.

I put my Slamdance beside my WFC Optimus the other day while doing a liitle organizing then when i looked at them i noticed the two are the exact same colour scheme in the exact same places. A bit of useless info there for ya guys.

Cassettebots are gestalts too ya know. ;)

Another of my weirdest looking gestalt is my

Beastwars Neo Magmatron

Makes you wonder what the designer was on when he/they designed him. Red,yellow, light reptilian green and purple blue. Mighty detailed on the reptile modes as a.matter of fact. make them a bit bigger and they'll scare the daylights out of you.

Gimmicks: You can again combine all reptiles into a four legged winged dragon. Aside from that you can combine the 3 dinos into 1 bot(that's a given  )

Any complaints I have, his frickin' sword won't mount properly on his hand.
