Since they are the exact same mold...

Hasbro could have done this, had there been a feasible business plan for investing in the development of what would be an expensive toy. Combiner sets are not an easy sell to Hasbro's main demographic target, which is younger children who usually need their parents to pay for their toys.

I enjoyed just looking at them... My kids won't let it be displayed anywhere thought, unless I get a lockable case for it...

Necroing this thread just to brag about the incredible trade I made. I gave away this:

And got THIS in return!

Only thing missing are the energon translucent bits. The trade was made in person so no extra fees.

One thing is sure, that set is GLORIOUS and it's a nice change of pace from Combiner Wars.

Did I mention that he's GLORIOUS?

I don't have CW Bruticus and I never will because I'm a bit burned out on the series. So, anyone have both this FP kit with Energon Bruticus and the CW one side by side to compare? I know this one is more an "update" and the CW is more G1, but it would be fun to see. The Google wont deliver.

Nice!

Some people are down about this set now, but I'm not one of them.

I still have quite the soft spot for the Fansproject version. Explorer and Munitioner set the standard for what third-party figures could be like, and I think they easily stand up to the current generation being produced. This version of Bruticus is absolutely a classic.

What I really like about the Energon with FP upgrade is that it's his own unique character with a modern look. I always found the G1 "chest plate" of the original Bruticus as a big "lid" that cover all of the bot. There is plenty going on with the Energon chest, with lots of the vehicle visible. That's what I really like.

Also, because of CW, many fans who prefer the G1 look are getting rid of these sets. They are still expensive, but way less than some years ago. So, now is the time to finally get them. Available with a somewhat reasonable price? Yes sir! Check out that recent listing that just ended:

If you are going for the set, avoid the second release (with the more G1 accurate colours) like the plague. The tolerances are all over the place- the shoulders on mine are super floppy.

I have the G1 colors and mine is rock solid all over. I transformed it from vehicle, to robot, to combined. The quality of everything is phenomenal. Guess I got lucky.
