Prefer the much darker purple on the first release version. Don't care for the 2nd release toy Indigo blue jeans duller color.

Do think the 2nd release orange barrel metalic colors with chrome looks better than the first release orange barrel colors.

I actually prefer the original colors, I just want a third party clear orange barrel.

So glad i didn't buy the first version. Never liked the coloring.
But i must agree, it is an annoying trend. Already felt screwed by KFC
and their cartoon/comic accurate colors.

But really, when are you doing the right thing as a collector? Do you buy
the first version, even if it has faults, just so you don't miss out. Or hope
their wil be a second run, wich may be a recolor/revised version, with
taking the risk there wil never be a second run.
Honestly, I am very happy with all of the 3rd party manufacturers, but make
up your minds. All of us got screwed at some point or will be in the future.
Of course i understand that this i just business for them, but i cant justify
myself into buying everything twice.

I think it all depends on how much you like the toy in the first place. I brought Igear Brawn because I thought it was the best Brawn out there and I like it even with it's faults (Upsize legends) than Igears came out with cartoon accurate colors while I like it more I'm ok with what I already have. (although I'm still tempted to sell it and get the newer one) For Maniaking I never liked it enough to buy it in the first place So I guess this works out for me as the new one looks much nicer (to me).. but I'm still not sure if I want to get it. now if they just added wrist rotations!!

That's a valid point you bring up. But let me give two examples;

First off: Mugan Scope.
Bought it at the point when they where getting scarce. Wich means i payed to much, didn't care because i love the mold. Changed the colors here and there, only to see it getting a reissue molded in the exact same colors as i customized mine. Needless to say wich version i would have prefered.
(What to think of those wo bought the FrenzyRumble version)

Second: Hegemon.
This one is even worse, the colors stay the same, but this one gets a new head and revised engineering supposedly. Couldn't they decide to get the engineering right in the first place? I've got no problems with mine, but would I have waited, I would've gotten a better version for the same pricing.

But i must admit there must be a plus side in this trend. If this trend continues,
It's a big F*CK you against all them scalpers. I also might get a second shot at acquiring
Toyworld Grind Rod at a normal price.

I bought 3 Hegemon figures when it first came out, one after the other, because I kept experiencing QC issues that drove me nuts. I sold them all, and swore Hegemon off, but have been lured back by the second release. The new head should be good, I'm glad he doesn't come with that sword (I've got the Dr. Wu's much nicer Tyrant Sword, need be), and hopefully he DOES come with some new engineering/fixes and a higher quality build.

KFC is... KFC. Their figures are just badly made. If they had gone with a higher quality plastic for their Mugan figures, and made the shoulder mounted scope more secure, I think people would have eaten that mold up. Also, I'm not sure why this Maniaking recolor would lead people to conclude UT & KFC are the same company... I mean, iGear has done it too, and no one's claiming iGear is the same as UT or KFC. :-?

Back to Maniaking - I think I've had enough time to get acclimated to the aesthetics. The horns, lack of wrist swivel, and monkey arms (where's Arctorro!!??) don't bother me as much, especially with that gorgeous deco. Oy - I think I'm going to buy him. Crap.

This is a 100x times better in my opinion . I wasn't totally sold on the deco on the first run that's sort of what held me back , i would have eventually got it but this has made him an instant buy for me .

On Hegemon i'm going to look into getting a new one mine has a knee that keeps dropping and the cannon is loose and his right arm isn't the strongest at holding it's self up .

It's because both use the same factory to make their stuff, we all know the factory as being the guys behind the "high quality" KOs of the Henkei Seekers and a few other Classics molds (Mirage etc) CHMS.
And from what I heard CHMS also sells its services to DR Wu and XTransbots, although I seem to remember the later being announced as CHMS's very own 3RD party company, which started out KOing other 3RD Party things.

It's kinda like claiming that TFClub and FansProject are one and the same, only because TFClub used to be FP's distributor.

They've long been linked, also with Xtransbot. They even featured each others toys in their comics. (forgot which comic huffer perhaps??) Rumored company they came from was CHMS which explains how they just spit out figures because they own their own factory! I wish I can find where the source of these rumors are though. =/

On Hegemon I've own it since day one and while the new one may have fixes and **** I've had the toy for 2 years so its whatever? Maybe I'll be able to sell mine for cost and get the new one. When's that coming out?

Also I've had this problem with my Hegemon since I've got it, (haven't actually really messed with it in 2 years) but does anyone know what the trick is to put it's left shoulders down? You know how you have to lift it up and out of that socket to put it in gun mode? I've done that one time to transform it and was never able to put it back in its socket. I know it looks more dynamic with it out but still would like to know how to put it back.. haha any advice would help!!

On the rumor of them all being one company and them featuring their toys in each other's comics. Remember how years back, back when we still posted 3RD Party news there was this announcement that a couple of small newcomer 3RD Party's had founded a "3RD Party League" or something? I think the first was that group that KOed the PE Mastersword set and added crappy heads for the Classics BB mold. That league did cross reference their stuff.

So maybe the league still exists or they just keep it up for old time's sake.

Yep, that's it. The reason the 3rd parties do this stuff is because they know, based on feedback, that there are some who never bought the original version due to whatever reservations they had about whatever it is that this new version has 'fixed', in this case, the colors. They're hoping that some who already bought it will double-dip and that any who were on the fence about getting the original because of the colors will pull the trigger on this one.

I'm close to being on the fence but I'm still not pulling the trigger until someone comes out with replacement arms for this thing. Those wrists bother me that much, so until that gets fixed, they aren't getting any of my $.
