DX9 Toys D05 Chigurh (Leader/MP Astrotrain)

Yes you read right, no you weren't dreaming. It's another 3rd party, MP-10 Leader scaled Astrotrain toy.

DX9 Astrotrain is 24 cm which translates to 9.44 or 9.4 inch tall robot mode. While TW Astrotrain is 22.5 CM which translates to a 8.9 inch tall robot mode.

Like both the TW Astrotrain and the DX9 Astrtrain, I'll try to get e'm both.

DX9 has a insulting tag, that reads, it transforms with no parts forming required.

 Hoping 1985 Blitzwing gets in on this MP-10 leader toy scale also.

 Wish a few 3rd parties would compete and create a few G-1 Galvatron toys that were MP-10 Leader scale.

I don't really see how a selling point can be read as insulting, but okay? :???:

Was thinking it was a insult meant for another 3rd party companies Astrotrain toy.

I'm not blown away by this one either , but i like it a lot btter than TW being homage to the toon.

I like the head and chest the arms look ok .

I like the shuttle mode better .

I don't like how the crotch plate looks like it's part of the torso making it longer and the legs don't look right .

9" is to big for my classics which is a damn shame , looks like i'm keeping my fingers crossed for that T4? Astrotrain as it was supposed to be a voyager .

I don't really think this looks good enough to be a MP either .

and im quite against 3P MP's. but i made an exception when buying maniaking as he has no place in my collection. he's not replacing my henkei galvatron, and he's certainly not an MP galvatron. he's just a great figure and im glad i made the exception.

i dont mind having a really big astrotrain (cause of wonky cartoon scale). he likely wont replace my classics astrotrain, so he can stand in my seperate "reject" display with maniaking

I tried to think that AT should be big robot due to him carrying the entire g1 roster
but i pulled the ruler out and even though most of my collection is becoming voyagers roughly 7" the extra 2" on AT didn't sit right with my vision , which is a little strange since i have no problem with MMC Hexatron towering over everybody .

Like the TW Astrotrain toy better.

Don't like all the sacrifices the DX9 Astrotrain Robot mode took to make the Alt modes look better.

This one looks a little more detailed but not as G1 as TW. The thing I like about this one is that they got the right colors. I also like the chest better than that ugly split fin wing that resembles the kiddie toy more than the actual cartoon. The thing I don't like about it is that it's taller than TW. I honestly think TW is a bit too tall. I would really like an Astrotrain that scales with Blitzwing in robot mode. I don't rewally care too much about vehicle mode scale because I support mass shifting.

Speculating a cartoon colored Toy World Astrotrain will get released.

The original 1985 Astrotrain toy had a chest wing.

Daimchock over at the TFW boards teased a 3rd party MP Blitzwing months ago.

Think that HasTak 30th Voyager Blitzwing toy is Mediocre at best. If a 3rd party releases a MP Eight to Nine inch Blitzwing toy, Then i'm guessing it will be the better toy.

Yeah, I think that Blitzwing render is several years old. I remember seeing it forever ago.

I like this. And at around $150, it is very decently priced for a 3P MP figure. However, I don't think I like it enough to go into my collection. But still... Image

I know I own one. And I always hated it. It was a good example of how 1985 technology was good enough for a kid, but not good enough for a TV show that was going to be the face of the franchise. I love the way they got rid of the chest fin in the cartoon.

Image

Whoever drew this art obviously was a fan of the vintage toy but didn't like the chest wing either.

Image

On the vintage toy, you had the option of leaving the fin in his chest, but it sticks out and looks ugly. The animatiors really streamlined it in their artwork, but you can tell that's the look they were aiming for. I always hated the way chest wings got in the way of the arms on both Astrotrain and Sixshot toys. It just looked dumb. They fixed that problem on the classics mold, but I still prefer the cartoon look.

This is gonna be a big "maybe" for me. I must be one of the five people on the board who are fine with the Henkei mould, but I really wouldn't mind Astrotrain being the same size as Blitzwing. But that's all this has going for me.

What T4?

Are you referring to that 3rd party Astrotrain that had that Hopper? Think that toy was Voyager-Ultra scale.

Remember a few months ago, the overseas fans or companies got the 3rd party TF toy scales all wrong and most of those newer 3rd party TF toys reveals were a scale bigger than they initially announced.

Make that 6 people  I like my henkei mold astrotrain. I just wish he was taller to match Blitzwing and the same for henkei Octane but oh well

Wow, that can't have just been from last June. Maybe I'm thinking of a custom from before that.

But, the day that I'm having, I'm starting to really doubt my own sanity...

[Edit] This might be what I'm thinking of from back in 2010. Over on TFW2005, there was discussion on whether the render was taken from this custom. Still, I think I might be going senile in my old age.
