*shurggs* different strokes for different folks. These guys are just too far removed from a TF characters for me.

I get that some of you like "only" those G1 Characters we all know and love from ther first run of toys, but Cybertron probably had a couple hundred million inhibitants you didn't get to meet in the first toyline so I have no problem at all with an expanding cast list. They just have to satisfy two criteria: Do they look good and do they NOT suck......

Anyway as the PE Arcee is taking forever to turn up in stock(likewise Giant C) I've pulled the trigger on both packs at BBTS so they are on the way now. The only drawback for you guys is that packages from BBTS never take less than 14 days to reach me these days so a review isn't going to be that quick in coming.

as nice as some of the G1 toys were, and as much a place they hold in my heart for nostalgia reasons, that's not why I like the characters. Comic, cartoon, etc appearances are what made them interesting characters, primarily. Appearances in works of fiction by talented creators always help establish a character in my mind, even if it is quite a memorable toy they're advertising. Flywheels is a terrible toy, but I'd gladly buy a new one, because he was a great fun character in the comics. Bombshock...well, I'll be kind...he needs a bit more spotlight before I'd think of him ahead of about a hundred or more other characters.

That said, sometimes I'll buy really good toys despite not knowing or caring for the characters. Transformers toys are always good for this, as you can make up your own character, or use a toy as a stand-in for an existing character. Haven't thrown in my money for these Iron Army guys yet, but they do seem like fun little toys that have the right sort of Transformers-y look to them that I like, and they're not super-expensive. I won't not get them because they're not established characters, but can understand people who won't.

It's also a budget thing. Sure these aren't that expensive, but you can't get everything.

oh. definitely! These guys are small, and pretty much dependant upon having a PCC commander figure to get the most out of them. For the same price you could probably get 2/3rds of the FOC Bruticus, or what have you. Or maybe a nice single figure from a 3rd party, like Motobot Arcee or Hegemon. All comes down to personal choice.

Honestly, with so much 3rd party stuff, and a decent amount of official figures that look good, I might skip these, or at least wait in hope that they go on sale. On the other hand, I'd love there to be more, since the PCC line's only failing, IMO is the lack of proper gestalt modes (even the individual robot modes for the drones wasn't the major turn-off, but the fact that Hasbro couldn't be arsed to engineer proper arm/leg modes for the little guys even without having to factor in individual robot modes for them irked me a lot)

I think they could have made a bunch of these when PCC were in their heyday. There's two sets I'd be down for: the Protectobots and the Dinobots.

Sure, the Dinobots wouldn't have Grimlock as the center and you have one extra spot (provided you don't want Grimmy as a mere limb ... Paddles maybe?). On the other had it'd be a great, cheap way to get us some Classics Dinobots and we can just ignore the combining feature if we wanted to go that route.

The Protectobots are almost a no brainer to me since there's so little competition. Just add in a couple replacement heads for the Hot Spot and you're good. I was never a big Defensor guy; they didn't sell him like they sold all the other original combiners, so if they made limbs for the Protectobot set I'd definately pick him up.

I just got these guys in today, and they aren't half bad. They are a bit bigger than I expected them to be, so that was a nice surprise. I do wish that he would have come with a rifle for combined mode. The plane's weapons combine, but it just doesn't look very good. If you have PRiD Arcee, her gun makes for a decent rifle for him.

I was never able to find a decent size comparison before, so now that I have it I figure I might as well give you all one. Hopefully it's helpful to anyone thinking about getting these.

thanks for the info matt, good to know these are shipping (oh so many 3rd party products, and official ones often too, miss their estimated arrival dates by a looooooong time)

any chance you could pop them limbs on the desert camo version of the mold so I can see how it looks, since that's the only one I have?

Finally got mine from BBTS and I'm glad I did, even if only for the tanks as they are a decent size and great little bots. Well done TFC, I'm impressed.

Got mine and am also impressed. Good vehicle and robot modes and they are a metric ton better than the drone limbs. SO much more stable and better looking.
