Not a preview of a recolor and not technically an update, however, I came across these pictures by accident and thought I would share them. For a Shattered Glass set of Constructicons I think they look better in Dinobot color / Omega Gestalt color than they do in Protectobot color.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my findings.

Yeah, I know. That's where I found the pics, actually. I just stumbled on them, admired them, and figured I'd share them with this board if they hadn't seen them.

loving the Dino/Omega colours. Would work well as a vehicle mode Lightning Strike Coalition.

Reprolabels for Maketoys Green Giant (Type 61)

Well, I got the Reprolabels for this guy, thought I'd share some photos of my freshly stickered Devastator for you all.

First, the individual bot modes:

Image

I have to say, I've changed my mind twice now on one thing about these toys, that being the white and red stripes on them. When I first saw them, I was like, "What is Maketoys thinking? The constructicons have always had black and yellow stripes!" Then, I got used to the red and white, and I thought, "Huh... not what I would have done, but it really does kind of work." But these stickers gave the Constructicons back the proper colouration in the stripes, and it does look so much better! (Or at least, so much more like fond childhood memories of the original toys.)

Now the vehicle modes:

For those who prefer a purple mixing barrel for Mixmaster, Reprolabels did provide stickers for that option. I've always been more of a green-barrel guy myself, though. There's actually three barrel options, I suppose. Completely purple, purple with the black and yellow stripes in the middle, or green with the stripes in the middle.

Reprolabels did also provide two different options of stickers for all of the windows each vehicle has. One option is a deeper colour of purple that better matches the other purple on this Devestator. The other option is a greyish/silverish colour to probably better resemble glass. Personally, I was fine with the windows the colour they were, and thus didn't bother with the window stickers.

This set features some tiny stickers, the most tiny and most annoying to apply of which would be the chrome stickers on Scrapper's ladders. Have fun putting them on! (Do take your time.)

The chrome detailing on the various shovels and blades on some of the vehicles all had two options: plain chrome, or "dirty" stickers. I went with the dirty option. Thought it looked a bit more fun.

Now onto Devastator!

Image

Not trying to pick a fight with Hercules fans here, but Maketoys Giant was always to me a much more "G1" looking Devastator, even when Hercules has his add-on set. This sticker set really drives that home and gives him all of the little details to complete the homage this toy was providing.

The only real complaint I would have is that it would have been nice if Reprolabels had provided stickers for Devastator's forhead. I really do like the head I am using here better overall, but I do miss the silver that the other head provided has, and had been hoping Reprolabels might provide a way to have that on this head as well. But other then that, an excellent group of stickers to give your Maketoys Giant the finishing touches to make him a truely excellent Classics Devastator, and provides options in many of the stickers to give each person a choice in what details their Constructicons have. I'd definitely recomend these stickers to anyone who owns these toys.

(Wow, writing all of the above reminds me that I really need to start writing reviews for my website again. I really haven't meant to abandon it since the fall, it has just sort of happened that way. Some day... hopefully soon... I'll get back to it!)

Seeing the repros on Giant, I wish they had made a yellow set. I can't imagine it would take Delta that much time, or give him that much work to change the colors in the computer to match the yellow set.

I will agree that it would be nice for Yellow owners if there were versions spicifically for the Yellow ones. But, if worse comes to worst and Yellow ones are never produced, I would say that the majority of the stickers in this set should still work with the yellow set.

Only Scavanger and Bonecrusher have stickers on them that have green on them and that don't have optional choices less dependent on colour matching. On Scavanger, the stickers with coloured tubing on the excavator arm and on the side of the vehicle, and on Bonecrusher the three stickers that wrap around the sides of the vehicle and cover the exposed bit of the connecting mechanism on the top of his vehicle.

Any other stickers you see that have green on them have other options you can use which would of course be better for using with the Yellow set. (Also, there are other green stickers I didn't use, the main example being that all of the faction symbols had green backgound options, but for the most part I prefered the more G1-looking silver background.)

So yeah, these stickers are designed more with the green set in mind. In a fair world, there would also be a yellow set available. (Also, if I was designing it, it wouldn't be just a colour-swaped version of the green set. Yellow Giant has a very different paint scheme as it is. First thing I would do would be stickers to mask all of the "MTC Co." logos.) But in a worst case senerio where that never happens, I should think that many of these stickers would be able to cross over well onto the Yellow version.

On a vaguely related note, as someone who is looking forward to receiving both the Asia Exclusive Bruticus and the reissue of Fansproject's Munitioner and Explorer, can anyone here who may have the previously releaser Reprolabels for them say how dependant those stickers are on colour matching, or if they would work just as well on slightly differently cloured toys? (This may be a question better asked in a seperate thread, and if I never get an answer here I may eventually do that... but if I do happen to get an answer here, then yay.)

I got sidetracked for a few months, but I finally got around to writing the third part of my review of this set! (Here's part one and part two for anyone who may have missed them and is interested.)

I'll get to the fourth and final part soon!

Anyone interested, I have just published the fourth and final part of my review of this set, covering the gestalt form plus taking a look at the Reprolabels for these guys. (Although the Reprolabels comments, I will admit, are mostly just a copy and paste of my thoughts on them from an earlier post in this thread.)

For those who missed earlier parts:
Part 1: Scavanger & Bonecrusher
Part 2: Long Haul & Hook
Part 3: Scrapper & Mixmaster

Enjoy!

I saw this a few minutes ago on the BBTS site. I pre-ordered the toy within seconds. I thhink, the BBTS asking price went up for this,I remember BBTS selling this for around $339. Now it's $40 more. Hopefully this comes with a extra part or 2 or even resculpted faces. To make the extra $40 more justifiable.

My guess is the extra $40 is not Maketoys doing the mark up. The extra $40 is most likely due to BBTS getting this more from there supplier.

I wonder,If I poke my nose around other USA based Import sites,If they'll have this at a cheaper price than BBTS has.

Hands down this is the best version. Even though Long Haul looks really terrible. due to him making sculpting sacrifices for the combined form.

Not that he needs it, but I wish there were loads of upgrade kits to pimp him out like TFC Hercules.

I'm surprised no one has made a Cartoon accurate g1 head for him similar to Crazy Dezy Herc upgrade.

Well, I think you rather hit the proverbial nail right on its head with, "Not that he needs it." I mean, heck, Hercules was so in need of upgrades that the company that produced it in the first place felt the need to upgrade him! (Seems to be a thing with that company, actually...)

With the possible exception of six little trumpets for them to hold, I can't off hand think of a single upgrade or accessory kit that could be produced for Giant that I'd have to have if someone made it.

I really want a G1 cartoon screen head though....

The standard one that Giant has is really stylized and has a black bandana thing going on. The Giant "rage" face is okay, but doesn't look great in Hooks bot mode.

If they could do something that looks great in all modes and is screen accurate, I'm in!!!!

Herc doesn't "need" the rage kit.

What it does, is allow for a completely different display option. With the Rage kit you can choose to display him in a G1 style or without it in a modern comic style.

Personally, I prefer the comic styled treads-as-forearms look that he has out of the box.

Agreed! Herc is perfect as is! Any needed upgrades are personal preference, and mainly wanted by those who require a more G1 look.

I wasnt digging comic book Herc. I bought the Rage set, Crazy Devy head and purple barrel and the Reprolabels sets and I dont regret it. I also bought the Reprolabels for my yellow Giant. I would be up for a G1 head though.
