What, you're the only one here with an account? People can post for themselves. They don't need you to speak up for them. You're not advocating for anybody here; you're just adamant about YOUR OWN point of view.

Don't make a broad "30 year old fans don't want ___" comment. Lots of adult fans aren't as vehement as you or define things as you do.

I could be in the minorities, but then again so could you. Nobody knows because not everybody who reads here posts. But everyone seems to ignore the list of non-neo G1 3rd party figures I listed earlier. Nobody wants to explain how they came into existance when the whole TF community is so pro-neo and Rated X is the ONLY collector alive who doesnt support the neo concept. So youre saying I could take away youre nice sports car and force you to drive a mini cooper and you would still be happy ?

I wouldnt be caught dead driving that girly mini SUV Toyworld used for his alt mode. Searchlight WAS raped, with no Vasaline. At least Rollbar got to keep his G1 dignity and his Grind Rod. ;)

Since I drive a Corolla and have no need/intention of buying a sports car... sure?

it's a straw comparison, at best. It's Searchlight. 'Neo' is not a swear word or insult.

I think you missed my point. Toyworld's choice for Searchlight was not very manly. They made him into a chick ride. That's the insult. They could have used a more manly sports car like in G1 and still made it neo and cool. If Fansproject used the mini SUV for a stunticon, there would have neen 20 pages of nerd rage. But toyworld does it to poor Searchlight and nobody gives a s**t. :-(

I find this offensive, to be honest.
Claiming that something is an insult because it is 'feminine' is sexist, disrespectful and in bad taste. As are rape jokes, or using 'rape' as any kind of analogy.

By all means, critique the figures, lines, brand and so on, but could you please avoid using this type of language?

"Everyone's" ignoring your list because they don't want to get into a strawman argument with you.

You don't represent all 30 year old TF fans. That's the only point I'm making here.

I never said I represented ALL of them. Im not really familiar with the term "strawman". Maybe it's a regional term ? But my list does prove there is a market out there for non-neo G1 3rd party products. Oh s**t I forgot the Fansproject Function X series ! Super G1 and hardly the definition of what has become to be known as "neo". I dont see too many complaints about that from the neo supporters. Instead, I see more and more Botcon Weirdwolfs going up on e-bay. :-?

Nope LOL

But I do like almost everything they have put out. Im just not feeling Aurora's alt mode because it does not fall in line with what they started with Grind Rod.

I dont think anything I wrote on the last few pages is anymore offensive than stuff you see on TV or hear in todays music. Wanna talk about sexist ? How about all those Marines that are protesting against Obama's decision to allow women to fight in combat. Now thats sexist.

Strawman is a type of argument. Basically, it means that, instead of arguing the point you argue something else that's only marginally related and then say you were right about the point.

Your list is flawed if Hegemon makes it. That's all I gotta say on that subject.

*looks up your post* Well ... perhapse I misread your post. If so that's my mistake.

All right folks, can we get back to talking about Aurora/Searchlight please? X has his views and while we may not agree with them, let's not further derail the thread discussing it.

Thanks!

Yeah, you're right about that. I'll hep get it back on the rails.

Searchlight looks like a good representation of a really obscure guy. If I was more into the Throttlebots, I'd probably be all over it. It looks great for the price.

The alt. mode ... eh. It's not what he was in G1, but it also doesn't bother me.

I agree. I am glad they are making the Throttlebots. They are so under represented.

I know some folks do not like the alt mode. Is it possible that this alt mode was chosen so that it can easily become the other foot for the combiner mode?

That is probably the only reason for the alt mode. Not that it matters, he looks great as is and this alt mode is a nice change from all the sports cars, vans and trucks :P

Yeah, where's that Dime-block guy when you need him...?

So, not the bottom of the box, but swiped from TW's webpage, it's a foot!

I don't have very high expectations for a decent looking gestalt, but as individual figures these are fantastic.

I guess the foot theory really does explain the reason behind the alt mode. (not that I like it) but that wont stop me from buying this team. Move over Uranus, Throttler is coming !!!

I can live with the choice of alt-mode as it does have potential as a rugged off-roader. I'm not thrilled by ToyWorld's lack of clear plastic for windows, as it makes Aurora look like he's got a black chest. The least they could've done was colour the roof white and tweak the transformation so more of it formed his chest. But my biggest issue with this and all of ToyWorld's figures is the size. They're all kinda large. They just about fit into a Classics line-up, but they still look odd.

I'm getting the Throttlebots as well as Hardbone, but I'd like to know why ToyWorld made their figures as big as they did. I guess it bodes well for the hinted at Dinobots though.;)

I was a little taken back at the size of Grind Rod, but after transforming him, I was really impressed with his robot size and to me, he seemed perfect.

I agree, I think size wise Grindrod is perfect, so I'm expecting this one will be as well.

The more I think about it, though, the more I wish the alt mode for this guy was more rally car-ish.

I think the rally lights on the hood helped sell the name "Searchlight".

I used a lovely East based Ebay seller to pick up Grind Rod, delivered to the U.K. without any issues for only £41, so Im willing to take another gamble on Aurora when hes released next week!

Heres hoping a Shapeways designer or small 3P company makes any needed add-ons for the Throttlebots, such as the spotlights for Searchlight? :-?

I wonder what vehicle Wide Load will be re-envisioned as? Perhaps a Ford Transit tipper!
