I seem to recall seeing that teaser picture a long time ago. If something comes of it, cool. If not, then I'll be happy with BTS's Overlord offering (I hope).

Yep, that would have been in the thread I created a while ago!

If the mods fancy merging, feel free.

As usual, linking pictures from certain social media websites doesnt work for me, so I best head over to another fansite to actually see the pics!
Its a shame they couldnt be embedded into this site but I guess that might slow the site loading down? :???:

Voyager sized im buying ! The only thing i dont like about my hexatron is the large size. Sure i can sugarcoat it and say it resembles his comic book scale for classics purposes. But in my heart i know he is way too big for my G1 cartoon theme. I would buy overlord too. Although he should be bigger in my opinion. Im not sure why they plan to do a stand alone motormaster. But if he looks good i may want him too to lead the hasbro team of stunticons.

I thought this would be a whole new figure, but from the head & sword pics it looks like this is just an add-on kit for Hexatron?

That's a pretty awesome response.

Indeed! Good for them. Knock-offs piss me off, whether they be of Has/Tak or of original third party molds. Nice to see a third party make a stand. I wish, for example, that Maketoys had done something similar when the Battle Tanker knock-offs started making the rounds. (Although I must admit that Maketoys has made me a bit weary in this area themselves as of late. While far from a direct copy, their Hyper Novae's cab section is a bit too close to the RTS Laser Prime mold for my comfort.)

The problem was, Battle Tanker was their first release so they didn't really have the kind of sway as MMC does now.
Or did their Minibots come out first?

whilst I appreciate the awesome that is Hexatron, and that it is an entirely original mould designed by MMC, I also enjoy the irony at a creator of third party toys designed very specifically to capitalise on the fact that Hasbro can't get their act together with releasing certain characters from their own copywritten IP into the hands of collectors who would sorely love to own them at a fraction of the price of these unofficial products.

Did any of the major retailers even carry the KOs? I thought the only ones that did were the ones that always do (which will likely be the ones carrying this).

I don't recall any major retailers carrying the KO Battle Tanker myself, or any of the KO City Commanders... Still doesn't mean I can't enjoy the thought of MMC taking a stand where other third parties haven't.

Robotkingdom did, they where also the ones that posted the huge in depth review, with comparison of the KO and the original so you could tell the difference.
But other than that the only ones who carried the Kos of 3rd Party where KOToys and other small time retailers, and mostly on ebay.

Now, this brings up a few interesting things actually. At first we had no idea what the hell these guys would be doing, then it kinda looked like they would be making ad-ons but now we seem to know that they're KOing these guys.

This makes these guys ballsy and totally nuts. Because the Overlord silhouette in their teaser is based on BTS's Overlord, and the teaser came out a week after BTS first announced their Overlord.
This means that they just decided to KO a product the moment it was first revealed.

Just imagine, while we where all "Wow, BTS is making an Overlord, that looks pretty cool - I WANT IT". Or "Meh, this is BTS, this thing might look nice but it'll suck."
They where all like "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, we'll KO the crap out of this."

Ah. While I've bought from them once or twice, I usually go through TFSource (and occasionally browse BBTS) so I must have missed that.

So this is going to be a Hexatron knock-off???

Phew! Money saved. Goodbye.

You know, I do want a more G1, smaller Sixshot than Hexatron. Maybe if I had more TFC bots I'd feel differently. If this were smaller it'd actually be tempting. Not saying I'd get it. But I'd be tempted.

Still, I gotta agree with dead Metal; it's bizarre that these guys are announcing KOs of stuff before it's even released. Not only BTS Overlord (or maybe they've set their sights on MMC's take now?) but FP's take on Motormaster as well? I don't get it. I can see a company seeing a lot of complaints and deciding to make a buck by offering upgrades before a figure's made (there are always complaints after all), but this is just weird.

Seems like a waste of time to ko hexatron. He is still in stock at bbts and at 139 its not a wallet breaker. They should have koed genesis or giant instead they would make more money. I would buy a ko of hexatron if they downsize him to voyager though. Thats the only thing that would make hexatron more awesome. I understand where mmc is coming from but their threat is shallow. Most kos are sold on e bay or similar sites. Anyone bold enough to sell the ko on their main website with official mmc products probally buys them from a front man, not directly.

Other Third parties did make a stand. Fansproject and Maketoys no longer does business with Robotkingdom because they sell KOs of their products. Also ACEtoystore also sell KO Fansproject and Maketoys products but I'm guessing they're too small for them to notice? because I think they still sell official Fansproject and Maketoys stuff

So they're making KOs of 3rd party products based on Tak/Has IP, but carefully named so as to avoid legal action, then they're calling them their original names again. Maybe Tak/Has will be the ones to take on these guys.

Ah. Well, hooray for that, then. Glad I don't do business with Robotkingdom anymore either. (Admittedly, it was because quite a while ago I found another online retailer I liked better... but if I still had any inclination to shop there, I'd not want to do so anymore.)

It seems like these KO guys are improving the parts a bit by making them look different.

The KO sixshot head looks better than Hexatron's. The wolf head has bigger fanged teeth.

I love my Hexatron but the bad head sculpt ruins the toy. I might be a buyer for the KO if it offers some better and different sculpted parts.

The Guns Hexatron came with are trully bad. So hopefully the KO guys create better ones.

Head/Gun sculpts being bad are a matter of opinion. I happen to think they're great and in no need of change.
