Amazon says that Unicron is a limited edition. Anyone know how limited or do they just mean that its an exclusive?

I'm sure they will stop selling them sooner or later. However I think that will be way down the road.

WOW, that really is awesome! Amazon Unicron is just so much better than his Armada version. I really, really want one now. I assume this is a US release only, so there's fat chance of getting one from Amazon UK, so I guess I'll end up lining the pockets of some lucky scalper out there pretty soon.

Out of interest, how does Amazon Unicron compare to his 2010 Takara counterpart?

No no! Dont buy from anywhere else unless you have to. I got one and it only cost £60. That includes shipping and customs fees. Amazon take a small amount to pre pay the customs charge. It'll be delivered in the UK by Yodel so no Parcelforce admin fee, that they charge you for the pleasure of taking your customs fee.

Just keep watching the listing on Amazon.com.

Edit: This is how it worked out.

Item(s) Subtotal: GBP 40.09
Shipping & Handling: GBP 11.52
-----
Total Before Tax: GBP 61.94
Sales Tax: GBP 0.00
Import Fees Deposit GBP 10.33
-----
Total for This Shipment: GBP 61.94

Thanks for the help XK, I didn't realise you could order direct from Amazon.com, I thought, being in the UK, it would automatically redirect to you to Am'.co.uk.

I had look today, and the cheapest (new) Unicron I could find was around $89+shipping. I your experience, do you think it would be prudent to wait until the price comes down again, or should I just 'bite the bullet' and get one now?

Once again thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. The TF community could do with a few more like you IMO.

Hi, no problem.

I'd wait. They seem to keep topping up their stock every now and then. Bookmark the page and check it once a day. Its supposed to be a special edition but nothing has been said about it being a very limited run. Those $89 figures are being sold by other retailers through Amazon, they arnt about to run out anytime soon ( though I do wonder how they got hold of what I thought was an Amazon exclusive....surely they cant be scalpers??? ) so if you wait a while and it doesnt look like Amazon are going to restock you can buy from one of them. I dont know if they will offer the pre-paid customs charge though so you might have to expect to pay that once it arrives in the UK ( last time parcelforce had to charge me a customs fee, they charged an admin fee on top which really annoyed me ).

There is also a thread about the stock for this figure so it might be a good idea to look for that in the Toys section.

Im looking at my figure on my shelves now and it really is SO much better than the Armada version. Looks like less of a toy and more of a collectors piece if that makes any sense.

Well today my inpatients got the better of me and I decided to try and get Unicron now, while I still have the money.

Problem was, when I tried ordering him from Amazon.com, this error message kept coming up...

"We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order".

It didn't mater which seller I tried to order him from either. Even those sellers with 'fulfilment by Amazon' the message was always the same. So in my experience, it certainly appears that you can't order Unicron from Amazon.com from the UK after all.

Guess its back to eBay?

I think the problem is that these other Unicrons are not being sold by Amazon themselves but by other sellers. Go with Ebay or Kapow Toys or wait for an Amazon restock.

I just ordered one from Kapow Toys. The postage savings made Unicron cheaper than ordering from eBay, so I decided bite the bullet. He's actually my first purchase from them, and I never realised they are UK based. I usually get my TF fix from TFsource, so fingers crossed he arrives OK.

Once again thanks for the advice XK.

He arrived last week, and he's awesome!

He's a birthday present, and my birthday isn't till next month, so I haven't yet removed him from his plastic tomb. I have however, removed the outer packaging and inspecting him in his bubble and I have to say, I'm very, very impressed. His paint scheme is almost perfect, and the amount of detail is incredible. Considering he cost nearly £100 shipped he's definitely worth ever penny.

I really, really can't wait for my birthday this year!

Amazon.com have just issued me a £10.33 refund on my Unicron figure. They say their import fees have been reduced but this is the total amount they charged for import fees.

Means the figure cost £51.61 in total.

I expect other UK purchasers will get the same.
