i blame the energon writers for not following that up, damn them to whatever hell they believe in

StarSwoop wrote:Well, i rewatched it recently and yes, i wept buckets when Starscream died, the character in Armada was so much better than the way his personality was created in G1 because he DID have honour and courage.
Alexis's crush (?) on him was sweet but just had my complimentary commentts on YouTube deleted because a load of teenage girlies insist he and Alexis were a couple!
Ok, it's an age-old parable that appears in movies, stories etc that a 'baddie' can be converted by the faith and friendship of an innocent child, that's why she cared for him so much but she is a child so how could they be a couple?!
Anyone agree?

G1's Screamer was cooler than Armada’s IMHO. Armada’s Bad Boy Who Secretly Has A Heart of Gold mimicked a trend that has been done to death in recent years in mainstream drama and in horror, i.e. Spike, Angel in BTVS, Logan in V Mars, Tim in FNL. A gender (sexuality)/"colour" (white? black?)ambivalent, highly emotional (yet a scientific type) who is 2nd in command, but also a traitor is far more original and striking IMO. Re Alexis, Screamer, as mentioned, strikes me as very sexually ambivalent - if not outright gay (if TFs have preferences) and is, therefore, the last TF one would logically place with a female. Worse, this female was human and canonically, I believe Screamer has long since shown his contempt for the race. I see Armada Screamer as TC (Thundercracker)under a different (more prominent) name. I saw some moral ambivalence, perhaps, in TC but little in Screamer. Under no circumstances would Starscream join the Autobots, however casually or formally. Alternatively, he (Armada's SS) was indeed Starscream, but just written massively out of character.

True, in G1 Screamer was contemptuous of humans and more ruthless but in Armada at least he wasn't portrayed as a back-stabbing coward. There are elements of the original Hasbro character in both i guess. It was quite Manga style which explains Alexis's look and the preoccupation with much younger girls as sex/ romance objects.

That's cool.
I just saw them when I watched Cybertron this morning. But they were much older. Probably like in their 30's.

ok i'll try to be a little more wordy about this

i admit there's no hard evidence about love between the two but hey, that doesn't stop people making fics about g1 megatron and g1 starscream in love so that is moot.

what we do have (based on visual evidence) is faith and trust between the two, alexis believes starscream is more what he seems to be and has faith in him to do what is right and she has put her trust on him while starscream was moved by alexis' faith in him when he was unsure about what to do when megatron ignores the threat of unicron.

sometimes love needs time to grow

they were deffo in their early 20's-it takes place 10 years after Armada when they were about 13 or 14.

Also Starscream's personality and memories were wiped when he was revived in Energon so he wasn't quite the same guy. Does anyone know that site where you can read comics online?

I did like Armada Starscream and I like it when he's on the Autobots and helps defeat the decepticions because it reminded me of G1 starscream but my favorite character was Jetfire even though he sucked in the other two shows. And what is the big deal with Hotshot I always seemed to think the show was about him and I didn't like him

I only thought the Unicron battles was nice other than that. i didn't really like the series that much.

I think the Hotshot thing was just that in most series there's always this character (transformer or human) that is always rushing in, is brave but immature and inexperienced. It gives Prime the opportunity to play the Daddy role and nurture him. It also resonates with the age and supposed gender of the majority audience.

Armada Starscream made the show for me. Megatron and Starscream were both shown as something beyond the one track mind war machines they were depicted as in G1.

When Megatron thought Prime was dead, you could tell he wasn't happy about it and was thinking, "What have I got left to fight for?" G1 Megatron would have just laughed and continued on his ultimately futile plan to conquer the universe. With the loss of Prime, all the excitement of the war had gone for Armada Megs.

If you cut out all the kids but Alexis and the boy, er whats-his-name with the spikey hair, they would have been just fine. No worse than Spike.

And finally, Skywarp looked like a badass ninja, I love the look of his design, pity he was never in the actual show.

The Autobots however, were very bland and boring. Which is all they ever are these days.

Armada Starscream is cute and not at all girly unlike G1 Screamer who is best known for running away screaming like a little girl mainly from Megsie :P Which is fine for me that Screamer in Armada was actually manly in way.
Also Tekka do you remember my old sig with Armada Megsie saying he looked like a reindeer I'm just glad that Armada Screamer was indeed not a reindeer

Personally I thought he looked more like a beetle. =D

I didn't think the look was all that bad for Megatron, I always thought a tank was a much better transformation than a hand gun. Starscream is meant to be a sleek flyboy, giving him horns like that just wouldn't fit as it's more "earthy", unless they were slicked back or something.
