ha, i remember that little video. it would be cool to see a new movie made that way.

as for the standee, i so miss the original orange version of the title. its so pretty and seperated it from the show kinda like "THIS IS A MOVIE!". lol

i have the movie poster of the same image but it has the typical red and blue for the title instead. its one of the reasons i waited for the rhino release of the first dvd to buy the movie cuz i wanted that original font.

I saw it in the theater in 1986. When it came out later on home video, I rented it relentlessly from the video store after we got a VCR. VHS was king and video stores were EVERYWHERE. My how things have changed.

To me, Transformers: The Movie represents the ONLY film worthy of representing this fantastic universe. It is bold, emotional, funny, and hopeful. The good guys don't always win, and some of them DIE? Mind-blowing.

Thanks everyone. I had never seen this thing anywhere else, so I figured you'd all get a kick out of it. I saw the flick in the theaters when it first came out. They did a food drive for the screening, so my admission was a box of mac & cheese.

I was wondering why they didn't do a 25th anniversary edition at first then I remembered several companies put out a 2 disc version for the 20th anniversary. Heck, I own two of them. The only way I'd buy a fourth copy of the movie is if the animate the deleted storyboards and edit them in.

I remember seeing extra footage, for example, in the scene where Perceptor sees the Decepticons as they fall/fly to the autobot base. I don't know why it wasn't kept in the final cut somehow, since it showed more of the autobase in all its glory.

Thats the test footage.

It was also used for the first trailer.

hehe, yea, I know what storyboards are.
Thats footage is awesome, I wish they had an extended version of the movie with even more dialogue between characters.

The usual, ebay. 2003. I don't remember how much I got it for, but it wasn't clearly listed. I thought I was getting a 4 inch shelf topper. You can imagine my surprise (and excitement) when that box appeared on my doorstep! A mix of "Holy $#@!", and "OMG, I can't believe they wrote over this awesome packaging".

I think he was ticked that I got it so low (again I don't remember how much it was, but it was a lot for a 4-inch topper. Not so much for what I got).

I own an original VHS copy (besides the 20th anniversary edition) and I watch it at least once a year, usually on my birthday. Awesome even after all this time. Long live Rodimus Prime! (The character!)

Has it really been 25 years since I was traumatized by cartoon death?

Prowl was my fave character at the time, and man, what happened to him was just gruesome. I cried all day, I think. I remember being so angry that they'd killed him.

Ahh, memories. It's still one of my favorite movies ever.

(And for the last five years or so, I've imagined what it would look like if re-filmed completely using the toys, Robot Chicken style, shot for shot.)
