T-Macksimus -vs- Burn

Back in January of this year it was announced that Arcee and Chromia would be a part of Series 5 of the current Generations toy line.

Many rejoiced. Some however, were reluctant to believe. Enter the Defendant, T-Macksimus.

T-Macksimus wrote:Don't get too excited folks. All we have are confirmation of names. As we have already seen they are not at all opposed to giving us repaints (which I expect both of these to be) or underwhelming molds. If you have any high hopes or expectations you might as well leave them at the door because I will bet a shiny new Titan class Metroplex that Hasbro is going to screw us over on Arcee... AGAIN! Generations started strong and has slowly gone downhill and the fact that the 30th Anniv. is here doesn't seem to matter to them one bit. >:oP

Expecting nothing more than a repaint, the bet was made, "a shiny new Titan class Metroplex that Hasbro is going to screw us over on Arcee"

Enter the Plaintiff, Burn

Burn wrote:Sig quoting this and holding you to it. Oh and you're paying the freight to Australia. Image

Now coming out of BotCon this past weekend came the unveil of Generations Arcee.

Image
Exhibit A - Generations Arcee

Clearly, not a repaint, not even a heavily modified mold. An entirely new figure.

So what did the Defendant have to say on the matter?

T-Macksimus wrote:Ok Burn, I know you have my quote on you sig line about betting a Metroplex that Hasbro was going to screw us on Arcee... well, I am not going to consider THAT clunky Brickformer with more back-kibble than most of the TF4 figures to be a serious attempt by Hasbro at a decent Arcee. Half a dozen 3rd party companies have done FAR better than the #1 toy company in the entire Northern Hemisphere so I'm still saying we got screwed and I'm not touching that toy. Try Again Hasbro and keep trying until you get it right!!

The Defendant has tried to change the very nature of the bet. Not only does it have to be a repaint, he now expects me to accept the condition that it must meet with his approval!

So I turn this over to you, our fellow peers. Has T-Macksimus lost the bet and thus owes me a brand new Metroplex, or has the conditions of the bet been met and as such I lose the bet?

I allow you all to retire to consider your decision, and to cast your decision by voting on who wins the bet, T-Macksimus, or Burn. You have seven days to decide!

The bet is simple. T-Macksimus says there will be no new Arcee. Then he says he's okay with the bet. Then Hasbro comes with a new Arcee, G1 in form and name and about as close the screen likeness as Hasbro is ever going to get. Then he complains about it not being to his liking.

Now where in the original bet did he sa he also needs to LIKE the toy?

Nowhere, that's where.

Pony up, T-Macks.

That's a pretty costly bet. Sucks to be T-Macksimus right now. If I were him, I'd try to buy one off Robotkingdom. Might be cheaper.

The only thing wrong with that Arcee are the black spots on the neck, feet and legs. Otherwise, that's a pretty damn accurate figure. Macksimus, remove your foot from your mouth, swallow your pride, and be a man. Own up to it. >:oP

Well Arcee is definitely a new mould no doubt, however could she be considered to be underwhelming?

Well I think not, however the terminology itself is certainly open to individual interpretation. BUT then again a bet is a bet, so T-Mack's should just cough up IMO.

Wow, after all those posts about honor and what a man he is, and he can't even honor a simple bet.

Either man up and honor your bet or shut up T.

Right, it looks pretty one-sided so far, let's see what I can add for either side. Let's start by taking a closer examination of T's original quote:

T-Macksimus wrote:Don't get too excited folks. All we have are confirmation of names. As we have already seen they are not at all opposed to giving us repaints (which I expect both of these to be) or underwhelming molds. If you have any high hopes or expectations you might as well leave them at the door because I will bet a shiny new Titan class Metroplex that Hasbro is going to screw us over on Arcee... AGAIN! Generations started strong and has slowly gone downhill and the fact that the 30th Anniv. is here doesn't seem to matter to them one bit.

From my point of view, he'll bet a Metroplex that Hasbro will not do Arcee justice. For one, he expected Arcee to be a repaint: that's been disproven. But the "underwhelming mold" is a matter of opinion, something he takes advantage of as he seemingly doesn't share our love for the mold:

T-Macksimus again wrote:Ok Burn, I know you have my quote on you sig line about betting a Metroplex that Hasbro was going to screw us on Arcee... well, I am not going to consider THAT clunky Brickformer with more back-kibble than most of the TF4 figures to be a serious attempt by Hasbro at a decent Arcee. Try Again Hasbro and keep trying until you get it right!!

And he actually supported his opinion. Fine, but thing is, personal opinion should never be used in a bet so I'll be discounting that (if he keeps insisting, Burn defaults as the winner, just saying >:oP ). But the opinions of others can be used, as they can redefined into fact: "Most love the mold" or "In general, the fans are pleased with the attempt". Looking at the original quote:

T-Macksimus wrote:...I will bet a shiny new Titan class Metroplex that Hasbro is going to screw us over on Arcee... AGAIN!

... he seems to be including all of us.

So in summary:

1) Bet Arcee is a repaint: LOST
2) Bet "Hasbro is screwing us over and can do better": pending toy reviews and fan opinion

Considering pure facts weigh in more than opinion, thing don't look good for T. Not gonna cast my vote yet until I've heard T's side of the story, in full and the exact factual conditions he was going for. Until then :)

So it seems he's built in a trap door. T-macksimus states that it can be an underwheling mold. Nowhere does he say that he himself must like it, so there's something in Arcee being underwhelming.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if something is underwhelming, the fans should go 'meh' for the most part. We're indeed not talking fact, but general opinion.

Maybe a poll can decide it? Let Seibertron rate Arcee! 5 options, 1being 'horrible', 2 is 'bad', 3 ' meh', 4 'okay' and 5 is 'great'. The trouble is that we don't actually have the figure yet. Maybe we should wait untill Arcee is released.

Just out of interest, how can someone be underwhelmed by something if they thought it was going to be crap to start with?

Not only that, if you make a ridiculous claim and then get called out on it on the internet, are you going to admit to being wrong?

No, you're going to argue until you're blue in the face to avoid having to buy Burn a Metroplex. Image

Busted bubba.

And if a username with the same IP address comes up, don't think I won't point it out.

Of course...the toy actually has to get released for all this to be official. >:oP

It's not like the big H has been 100% about delivering these past few years.
