VERY BAD toy distribution in your area? Vent your frustration here!

Wanna hear about VERY BAD distribution? You gonna hear about very bad distribution.

I'm Canadian, from the province of Québec.

I'm french speacking and I'm all bout defending my native language, but some times, Quebec's protective laws are killing me.

By law, everithing that is sold in Quebec MUST have french on the packaging.
That mean, not only we usually pay more for our toys, we have to wait weeks or months to have our Transformers after you Americans.

Wallmart is the best distributor. Whennever they have some exclusives, they always manage to have then, even if they are late. same thing for any TF waves. They still havent got the most recent DotM waves (Darksteel, Airraid and co.) but they finally managed to have Kup, Wheeljack, Thunderckracker, and Warpath. I bought them on sale at 10$, way after I gave up and bought them at the Hasbro Toy shop...

Image
Zellers, (own by Target, it seem) do have the latest DotM wave (darsteel n Airraid) but they prices are ****. CAN17$+taxes for deluxes, CAN8$+taxes for legends Cyberverse, and CAN20$+taxes for shelfwarming Generation Darkmount and Red-Alert. Oh, and they have a couple of exclusive orange The Fallen at CAN40$+taxes for more than a year now. That **** was never, NEVER on sale. Not even on boxing day.

At least, the have some PPC at CAN10$+taxes and Bombshock at CAN15$+taxes...

Oh, and Exclusive HA Leadfoot? Never happen.

Image
The worst offender is Toys r Us.

They do have exclusives..... for anything but Transformers.

NO MP Rodimus.
NO Scan series.
NO latest Generation waves like Walmart have.
No latest DotM waves like Zellers have.

Oh, and I never say any HA Roadbuster or the TF Prime Optimus/kids/Megs pack, Arcee and Cliffjumper. It's a miracle they had TF Prime deluxe Starscream and Bumblebee.

Oh, and the infamous 25th anniversary Unicron, Amazon Exclusive? It's a TrU exclusive in Canada. Everywhere in Canada. BUT NOT IN QUEBEC BECAUSE THERE'S NO FRENCH ON THE BOX!

AUUUUUUUUGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I was lucky enough to have a Unicron on Ebay for 90$ shipped. But just to make sure the insult is complete, the Kranix minicon have two right feet...

You Americans are spoiled to no end.

Image
Oh, and just one last trivia. Are you American? You bought an American Transformers on American soil? You got the box or card? Look the fine prints and see where the packaging was printed.
Prepare to be amazed.

Edit: There, text cleaned up. Sorry, but it was originally a 4chan post.

Meh, each province has their pros and cons. Distribution might be a bit slow but I love the no PST in Alberta. Might be the last stop for truck distributors, but Vanc. Island tends to get boatloads of stuff too.

And I'll take being in Canada over America any day. Happy with the my TF Prime - Voyager Primes.

Your bloodline has biased you to no end. It's well known that Quebeckers hate Americans, and most of the French in general, do too. However, we're not all bad, nor do we turn our noses up at you.

You do realize that you're blanket statementing an entire country of people, because you have a bug up your ass and it makes you look bad, right?

We don't go out of our way to bash Canadians, which you and your fellow Quebeckers are also, and we don't seem to have much, if any trouble with them and vice versa. Your province doesn't even want to be part of Canada. I remember when you lot wanted to secede and caused a ruckus.

Now that that unpleasantness is out of the way, I don't deny that we have been spoiled, yes. However, you most likely will still get the figures you haven't received yet. You have plenty coming your way if Hasbro Canada keeps their word of delivering.

As for us? We've had nothing for MONTHS. Spoiled? In general, but not this year. Everybody's had to import, left and right. Last official wave of DOTM? Air Raid/Dark Steel. October/November. Two new molds, that's it. Before that, I don't even remember the last time I bought a movie figure. I'm gonna say July, August...maybe?

Prime? You folks got first dibs. Mind you, I'm not complaining. Hey, more power to you. It's about time Canada got first dibs. Us? We have Arcee, Bumblebee and Starscream. And Bumblebee clogs the pegs so much, plus Hasbro hasn't shipped anything, so new Prime Deluxes? Hah. Not bloody likely.

Prime Voyagers? No clue as to when they'll hit US soil. Which is why my Dad bought them for me as a Christmas present and allowed me to import from Canada.

Prime Entertainment Pack? Same. No clue when it's coming here, but you have it. Granted, you're getting screwed on the price. $45.00 is a lot of money for something that has a MSRP of $30.00 USD.

I had to import everything but the three main Deluxes. Those I had to buy on eBay. (Thanks again, Ryan! :D)

No new DOTM, no new Prime, and Generations went out with a whimper. Two redecos and poof. Gone.

Hasbro's not shipping anything right now, stores can't restock right now, DOTM/Movie Trilogy has been delayed and pushed back to February, at least. Up in the air is Leadfoot, Soundwave and Wheeljack. Which, again, I had to import.

We're getting the chance to see what you go through, but just because we haven't experienced it quite like this before, doesn't mean we didn't understand your plight. Your arrogance and bile spewing are offensive.

Not quite sure how to take that... Hopefully you're saying that because you have Prime before we do.

Yeah... don't even vent until you try to get anything in Europe. The latest wave we got is DotM Laserbeak-Thundercracker,etc. NO Exclusives at all, only half the Generations (latest was the G2 Optimus wave with minimal distribution! NOTHING since then - no Scourge, Thunderwing, Dirge, or Warpath!) and we have no hope of getting Prime toys.

As for the bloody prices at retail:
8$ for a RTS legends
10$ for a cyberverse legends
20$ for a scout/commmander
30$ for a deluxe
50$ a voyager
80$ a leader!

It's cheaper to get everything from the secondary market, and even then, if it ends up in the customs, they add a 20% tax on everything, including the shipping!

Wait wait WHAT? Either you have misunderstood me, or I badly explained myself. (Or a combo of both). What I meant is not American bashing. Is that most of you Americans (based on 4chan's /toy/ anyway), take for granted that you have all the figures early, with easy access, have all the exclusives first and early, and having the figures at great prices is common.
Then, I got some responces that "that figure is not rare, I've seen a shelfload at 5$ at my local TJ-Max."

I KNOW some Americans are screwed in their area, of course. So no need to be so offended! 0_o

Oh and Europeans, my plight must sound like a fat kid's whining about how his T-bone is not cooked enough... ;-_-

EDIT:

Oh, one last thing. Please, PLEASE don't ignore me on this one. Like I said before, one thing that make me rage is to see some figures not coming out in Quuébec just because there's no french on the box. So PLEASE, if you have an all-american box that is in english only, please check on the package where it was printed. If I'm right, you'll go "wut?!".

Not meant to insult, just saying that I'm fine with the situation I'm in and having to live in another province or country would be silly as there are so many alternatives to acquiring toys.

Seriously, don't whine.

Over here the latest stuff is wave 2 DOTM. Nothing else beyond that. Would you like to know what I pay for a deluxe? 19,95 euro. 36,99 for a voyager. 69,99 for a leader.

'kay?

..I thought Italy was bad for prices!

I mean, yeah, same kind of distribution, but prices are way lower that that.
I believe Leader Sentinel was around 40€, just before Christmas.

Ya know..alot of the problems of distribution could be solved by chcking out peoples sales threads here(wink wink :P)..I have a closet full of generations ready to be shipped, target exclusive leadfoot is shelfwarming here.

I check the want/need list on the buy sell trade forum often. Try asking some of your fellow seibertronians, you'd be suprised :) I agree with the TRU staement though..they fuggin suck...

Im very jealous of blurzz and his prime figures...~shakes fist~ :P

Bloody. Hell.

Those are Japanese prices, without Japanese access!

19,95 is $25.38
36,99 is $47.06
69,99 is $89.05

RhA wins.

19.95 -> 24.81 AUD (we have paid up to 27)
36.99 -> 46.01 AUD (roughly the same)
69.99 -> 87.05 AUD (anywhere between 90 - 100. On "special" they'll go down to 65 but those specials are rare)

Oh my god........

I'll light a candle for all the European Transformers fan...

But seriously, what is their excuses to make the toys so bloody expensive in Europe? That's ridiculous to no end!
Is there a Grinch overtax or something?
:HEADHURTS:

This also make me remember about the video game sitiation in Australia. Not only Grand Theft Auto and the like are illegal in that country (remember, video games are only meant for little innocent kids), but the average price for a new game is AU100$! And the Australian dollar is about the same value as the US or Canadian dollar...

Is the Transformers situation a unfair as the video game situation for you Australians? At least, you are closer to Japan so importing might be a good option.

It varies. For the most part we get the first few waves, then it sort of dies off. We only got the first wave of the ROTF Human Alliance figures (which sucked because I liked that line) but we did get DOTM Jetwing Optimus Prime ... even if he was $160. (Thankfully I got him for $100 at TRU)

Importing from Japan? Yeah, it's a common option. I've done it a few times, price wise it works out a couple of dollars more but at least I know I'm getting them then. Plus I've now got a line into Singapore through Mach so that should help out even more. I just haven't told him yet. Image

$100 a video game ... *sigh* ... I hate that. It's effectively why i'm not much of a gamer these days. By the time things become affordable (i.e. War for Cybertron) everyone's over it. Plus we're still waiting on that R18+ classification so we can get all the rude and violent games.

Bad distribution, try living in the UK. Hasbro(UK) don't seem to give a toss about us TF fans.

Maybe I win on prices, but we've had a couple of things like Masterpiece Magnus and Jetwing Optimus ... plus we had Windcharger in great abundance before he even made it to the US.

Yea you win on prices, I win on distribution. All stores near me are sh*t, except for one that every now and then gets something past wave 1 or movie, but only in really limited numbers, like maybe one case which is usually bought by me, at least the stuff I haven't imported yet.

So yea Kran, be thankful that you live relatively close to the US and can therefore import the stuff you want cheaper than the rest of us.

Are you asking for sugestions?

because i often use bbts.com whenever i have a hard time finding TF toys at retail or from over seas. if you buy multiple stuff you save on shipping fees.

Right now,I don't care about TF toy distributions in my area. because I'm done buying anymore DOTM toys,I got the four i wanted five months ago.
I'll only be buying about 15% of the TF prime toys. Personally the 15% TF prime toys I want aren't super awesome,So I can't afford to wait forever to find & buy them.

You live in Germany, right?

I used to live there for a while and THERE WHERE NO TF'S ANYWHERE. When I moved back to Holland and I was in Germany on vacation a while later I did find some alt. Ravages (the 2nd version) for 24,95 at the Globus. Pretty sweet find.

But yeah, German distribution blows.

I'm pissed!!! Not just with my area, but with the entire country! Why is it that Canada has the TFP voyagers and the US doesn't!? Is it really that hard to distribute toys to a country right next to the one you're distributing to in the first place?
