What does Unicron think his destiny is?

I must have heard Unicron say "You can't destroy my destiny" several dozen times over the years. I always like watching the Transformers blow up Unicron. Although, I could never figure out what Unicron thinks his destiny is... To destroy Cybertron? To Kill Primus? To eat every last planet in the universe? It makes me wonder what goes on in his mind.
I don't know if maybe I just missed something or not, but I would like to know a little more about this guy. Personally I liked the Armada Unicron because of all those Minicons. I also had the toy at one time. I sold it along with all my other Unicron trilogy figures. I've regretted doing so for a long time, but I'm more than happy with Cyberverse and legends class now.

I have not watched much of TF Prime, but I like what I've seen... mostly... but I was curious about how Unicron plays a role in this one. So I saw a thing on YouTube about it, I really don't know what to say about any of what I saw.

His destiny is to destroy Cybertron and Primus I think. Possibly consume Primus and become a whole being, like "The One", but evil.

His destiny is something that he doesn't think can be destroyed. So his destiny is to keep living and consuming.

Hmm... I was writing that as a joke, but as I think about it I actually think there's some logic in that thought.

It's megalomaniacal thinking. He pretty much thinks he can't be stopped. He's mostly correct, and it makes you wonder why he then starts heading towards the only thing that can destroy him. You would think the safest bet would be to keep that thing as far awar from himself as possible.

But that gets you into his egotistical thinking again. He knows the Matrix is a danger, but he's so full of himself that he doesn't seem to care and start sticking his horns its business. So, I think he sees his destiny as pretty much a god. He decides which planets will live or die. He is in control. So, his destiny seems to be pretty much divinity.

Again, he was mostly correct in this so I can't really blame him, but he made some mistakes that altered his... his... deeessssttinnnnnyyyy!

He knows that whatever you do, in the end everything has to end. He views himself as the tool to end all life, once he has ended all life he plans on finally being able to rest for good.

So basically his destiny is to die after he killed everything else.

And this isn't my interpretation or theory, that's literally his official motivation.
His original incarnation in the cartoon wanted that, as revealed in the episode "Call of the Primitives" (he was literaly created to destroy every life in the Universe). That was his motivation in the Marvel comics, and it's the motivation that's given in the Covenant of Primus.

I like my bakery explanation better ( though that's a pretty good explanation)

If there was an appropriate being for the title of "Miss Universe" Unicron is it.

To paraphrase Starscream, Unicron will be Miss Universe even if he is the only one left in the universe!

So...am i the only one who never realized (literally until this thread) that he was saying "you cannot destroy my destiny" in the '86 film?

I feel sort of stupid now lol.

Time to take a looksie at the old biographical source materials. :-B

Marvel Transformers Universe bio:
His goal is to absorb the universe.

Dreamwave MTMTE profile:
desiring only the destruction of Primus and his creation: Cybertron
Also:
Its only goals were the destruction of the universe and the order it represented, embodied in Unicron's opposite number, Primus.

Dreamwave MTMTE Armada profile:
seeking only to absorb all things in order to satiate its unquenchable and inexplicable desire for power.

Transformers: The Ultimate Guide:
Unicron was committed to the destruction of all life.

3" Titanium figure bio:
He is completely dedicated to a life of destruction and will remove all obstacles, including whole planets that stand in his way of universal domination.

IDW Beast Wars Omnibus glossary entry:
Unicron sought to undermine the efforts of Primus' creations, the Cybertronians, by recruiting heralds to work against them and cause as much chaos as possible.

TCC magazine issue #10 bio:
Creation to him is a vast and annoying cacophony. Sentient beings in all their quintillions run riot like cockroaches, boasting of free will, a concept he finds offensive. Unicron wishes only for peace, yet he is plagued by a hunger without end, a burning void at the center of his being that refuses to be filled. He strives for the annihilation of the multiverse not out of a love of destruction, but out a desire for that vast and thunderous silence present only in the absence of being.

That should hopefully cover it (as I'm running out ideas of biographies to pull from  ). :)
