I'm sorry, but the High Council of True Fans obligates us to immediately eliminate any sign of pro-Bay activity before it finally ruins Transformers FOREVER. No survivors!
Nah, I'm just joking. Don't listen to the naysayers. :D

This is really a difficult question for me. Continuities include a massive amount of components which I have differing opinions on. I could go into immense detail about that but nobody would want to read all of it. Anyway, my favorites are probably a three-way tie between G1, Beast Wars, and the film series.

Either the movies or Animated. I'd probably chose the movies since they have more explosions.

I think what I find cool about the Bayverse is how totally alien they all are. Plus, the Idea that they kinda don't know why they exists appeals to me. Plus, let's face it,Explosions and robot death matches are just .....awesome. :)

I love G1 just because. :D And as far as BWs,they're from the same family. I do NOT,however, like Beast Machines...nope...not one bit.

Besides the fact they often speak in Cybertronian, I think the movie TFs are more like humans than in any other series. They're just a lot more badass.

That too! I like that they spoke Cybertronian. That made them alien. And the Decepticons are truly evil in the films. They're scary.

Just saying "G1" doesn't really mean anything anymore these days since it's so broad a term.

As for mine... um... guh, there's too many to pick from.

G1 for me is the Original cartoon. :) and the Marvel comics. I'm not a reader of the new comics.

If it makes you feel better, let's talk about continuity families instead. >:oP

Funnily enough, mine is Robots in Disguise from 2001. Don't ask why...

And that one happens to conveniently fall into both categories.

The Japanese version has been retconed into G1, while the US version is its own entity, I know. :P To me, the return to its roots while offering new features is appealing.

I know .I was only talking about the English version, in that it by itself happens to be both a continuity and and a continuity family all on its own. :-B

I no-longer have one, every one I have gets slightly ruined by something. The idw verse has been tainted by AHM and Costa.
Beast Wars by Beast Machines.
The G1 cartoons by not being that great.
Animated by being killed before it was done.
Prime by the Covenant of Primus.

So yea, it's kinda hard to really pick a fave since they're all tainted.

I HATE Beast Machines :michaelbay:

Two continuities, and two different universes. The guys in the Marvel Universe aren't quite the same as their Cartoon universe counterparts.

If I absolutely had to pick only one, I will go with what brought me: the US G1 Marvel comics. I love the stories and the characters, even if Rodimus was never in it, except for the adaptations of the Movie and Big Broadcast. The art (for the most part) was captivating, as were the story arcs, especially after Simon Furman took over. Unfortunately, ReGeneration is just somewhat of a shell of the original, but it's still better than anything I've read in a long time, probably since Armada. I'm not a GEEWUNNER, as I like plenty about other continuities, and the G1 cartoon is nowhere near the top of my list, but for story (the quality I hold most important in any continuity) it can't be beat. Even by Beast Wars.

Thinking about this more, I'm not sure if this is my favorite, but it definitely is a contender: The world of the TransTech. Axiom Nexus is such a cool place in that anybody from any continuity can show up and it wouldn't be confusing. You can have Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons, Vehicons, Mini-Cons, anything living together in one society regardless of universe of origin. You could even have multiples of the same guy running around at once; just ask "Jackpot the Third". :P

Though, be sure to follow the rules and have a nice day. :)
  • No Megatrons.
  • No Primes.
  • No Cosmic MacGuffins.
  • No Soliciting.

everything started with the G1 cartoon. its the basis of my entire obsession and ill always love it for what it is. goofiness, mistakes and all. season 1 and the movie being the ones i could watch over and over again.

and beast wars is what breathed new life into the franchise. it ties into G1, has amazing character development and an amazing story. megatron was brilliantly scheming, and primal grew to meet every challenge. dinobot, may be my favorite transformer ever and i shouldnt even have to explain why. im a sucker for a turncoat villain.

beast machines. i get really tired of the haters. it was beautifully animated. it was dark and gritty. probably the darkest TF show in my opinion. and it had some of the greatest character development yet. more so than beast wars. i even liked the morphy maximals. it was a neat direction to take things, and since theres still transforming robots (vehicons) in the show i dont see what all the anger was about. also the robot modes of the vehicons were awesome and the first time they truly felt "alien like" to me. still having wheels and treads for feet, or not having legs at all! really think about it: these robot modes make a lot more sense than the humanoid modes we're used to. for a super advanced alien life for, that can change their form, evolving past the use of legs is kind of a no brainer. my favorite characters were megatron, jetstorm and rattrap.

i loved rattrap in BW, he was a force to be reckoned with. but in BM he was stripped of everything that made him what he once was. he became very self involved and forced him to re-evaluate his own self worth. i know ill sound lame, but "the weak component" was a moving episode. right up there with "code of the hero" and prime dying in the movie for me. rattrap almost sells his soul to megatron to regain his lost power, only to realize his power lies in areas other than artillery.

megatron was brilliant and scheming as always. but he was particularly embittered due to the outcome of the beast wars. his failures must have created some incredible self loathing, thus wanting him to purge himself of his "accursed" beast form and ultimately his past. when he gets up on his soap box in "the darkest knight" and tries to convince silverbolt to rejoin him, he makes some maniacally good arguments. and his end game? using optimal optimus's body? not many villains actually use the body of their nemesis against them.

finally jetstorm. he was funny and cold. the ultimate "classic" villain. the revived silverbolt was ok... but a little to much angst for my liking. also the sleek look of him just screamed style. its a shame none of the toys matched the show model very well...

i enjoyed the mystery of "omg whats going on?!" for the first season. the setting was so dark and gothic, an empty conquered cybertron with the remaining maximals being hunted by an army of soulless drones. and i really enjoy an underdog story. like i said, the alien-like designs were very unique, and felt to me that thats what they should have been like all along... y'know being aliens and all. i wasnt particularly in love with the whole plant-ifying of cybertron. but that plot development didnt ruin the series for me. cybertron with technorganic trees doesnt infuriate me like it did others.

i should note, im attempting to watch TF armada at the moment. and watching this brain melting nonsense makes me long for beast machines. armada is juvenile and lazy... ugh.. compared to the brilliant animation and story of BM, who could hate it?

I'm probably the most causal TF fan here compared to everyone else, but I like TF Prime in terms of storytelling.

I love the BW story as well, but I could never get behind the whole transforming-into-animals thing.

Aesthetics-wise, though, it's movieverse all the way, followed by IDW comics (I never read the comics, but the concept art look sweet).

They all have their virtues but Marvel G1 is mine. I grew up with it and finally read the very last issue today.

Anything by James Roberts is gold. If I had my way, Regeneration wouldn't have been a limited series and Roberts would have written it.

I also loved Dreamwave G1. It took all the good from the comics and cartoon and combined them. The MTMTE Profiles showed an amazing grasp of each G1 character. I loved Repugnus and Sunstreaker.
