Takara Jetfire arrived yesterday and damn he is a nice figure! the lack of chrome really enhances this figure, just so people know the plastics appear to be that same as the Habro version, that fist transformation of the chest piece was pretty scary, I had to watch a couple of YouTube vids to make sure I was doing it right.

As mine hasn't arrived yet (weird that it was released first than my MP UM, which arrived earlier a few days ago), do you also own the Hasbro version? Is the white plastic lighter or just the same?

Know I might be in the minority on this. like the Hasbro version with the chrome and silver face better than the Takara version.

Think it's a shame the toy has so many budget cuts for a big toy. Think a toy this size needed rotate fist, with maybe mild articulation in the hands. Those missing panels on the limbs don't bother me that much.

With all the extensive remolded parts 2015 Leader Thundercracker has. Think priority should of been creating newer forearms with rotate fist.

Sadly since the Leader Jetfire forearms and fist share the same piece of plastic. 3rd parties would need to sell fans replacements forearms and replacements fist. Which would drive up the replacement kit price and narrow the buyers market.

Agreed. And placed ports on the upper arms so the null rays could peg into the biceps.

For the record, I don't hate all that chrome either.

I did know this already, I was just clarifying it as there was some discussion around whether Takara would use different plastics.

Finally got mine (Takara).

Seems like a fine toy to me. I can't say it feels like a KO but I can say that I very much like the design and cut of the character.

This thing looks good among my other Autobots.

chromefire gets a bad wrap. i dont mind it at all, though i do prefer takaras. i had planned from the start to get both anyways.

I have the Hasbro version, and also have the Takara version on preorder (wish TFSource would get it in stock already!). My plan is to swap the boosters and guns around, having the matte red accessories on the Hasbro version for a "perfect" G1 screen version, and the chromed accessories on the Takara version for a "blingin' IDW" version.

i had kinda the same idea, only one with no arm/leg thingies and no mask to represent cartoon skyfire. and one one with all gear on to represent G1 toy jetfire.

We're in the exact same boat, of the same mind, and with the same name.

TheMuffin wrote:Mostly it's Hasbro that disgusts me. The toy screams bottom line over quality. The movie line is in a similar situation. Instead of spending money to design an interesting transformation the line is filled with 3 steps and other simple designs.

$22 Marvel Legend and Star Wars figures are high on my WTF list as well.

Something I started with ROTF Megatron ...still wish for a Leader Class of that one...is add my own paint apps. Will def be doing that with my incoming Metroplex! Love Jetfire's design, but I can agree on hollow plastic. Really wish this mold was an MP release, just a little bigger with issues fixed, (but at $45?) no complaints here...I've spent more in a hour at Applebee's. Love the sleek alt mode, I never was a big fan of the flying brick but I am a huge fan of my VF-1S (I never owned Jetfire). I like the chrome. I'm thankful for any ratchet joint that still exists, and I'm particularly thankful for them in this figure due to the fact that he is light so I have no concerns of those joint wearing down.

These look like a pretty cool and affordable option for filling the gaps.

I may be in the minority here, but am I the only one who thinks Classics Skyfire is superior to Generations Jetfire? Sure, scale-wise a Leader is more befitting for the character, but otherwise Classics/Henkei just seems superior to me:

-Sturdier build without excessive hollowness
-Wrist swivel
-No faux cockpit/chest for forcing a compromise between a Valkyrie and the cartoon robot mode
-Awesome backpack whose cannons can fold over the robots shoulders for total badassery
-More weapons overall, including spring-fired missiles and eight cannons on his HELMET only, the guy is a freakin´ walking arsenal, but still feels slick and nimble
-More straightforward, but at the same time more clever transformation (love the nose cone split into the robot´s pectorals)
-Jet mode closer to the animation model (if that is preferred, as for my opinion, we have Macross if one wants a real Valkyrie)
-Better head sculpt
-Better battle mask (the perfect reference to the original toy instead of blue shades...)
-Overall, a robot mode that looks more like a robot and less like a guy in a racing helmet packing excessive wing junk protruding well over his shoulders, adorned by metallic red... somethings sticking into the air...
-I can´t stress enough how this is one of HasTak´s best molds EVER...

Each to their own I guess, but seriously, look at this picture:

r_leader-class-jetfire-339.jpg

To the left, a classic that has aged gracefully, but still aged. To the right, the perfect amalgam of cartoon Jetfire and the original G1 toy. In the middle: The biggest question mark of the latter years of releases, in my humble opinion...

classics jetfire will always be a great toy, but i prefer leader. stature and more toon accurate appearance is enough to win me over. plus, classics jetfires feet always bugged me. those split open thrust feet were only stable in a few poses.

and i like leaders face sculpt and battle mask more.

IMO...the Leader Jetfire gives the best of both worlds on cartoon accuracy and the G1 toy. I didn't own "Jetfire" as a kid, I have the VF-1S Super Valkyrie. There's no doubt in my mind that it doesn't hold a candle to the classics build quality, but it does fit better with my MP jets. The faux chest piece is toon accurate in alt mode placement.
