Why bother when they can make the whole thing from scratch? There's already a zillion 3P "Arcees" that keep popping out since at least a decade.

Yeah I suppose so

That's a major gaffe on the part of the designers, whoever is responsible for QC should have caught it. That's literally their job. Catching mistakes on a product before it enters mass production.

It's not a quality issue, so it's not qc related. It's really a design issue and the team responsible for MP releases at Takara signed off on it.

Or maybe use correct references. I pulled out my PotP Novastar and she somewhat has the same problem as MP Arcee with the tall collar and seemingly low chest. It's a bit less noticeable because of the angle and how much it stick out. :-?

the issue here isn't really that the chest is too low. It is in fact in an accurate position, if you are basing off of human anatomy. Basically, she's designed like an "endowed" shall we saw woman, not wearing a bra with a loose fitting tank top. There's a lot of human anatomy in her shapes. Which imho, isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not only is it not needed in a cartoon robot, its not really accurate to any version of the character. Sure, she had a human female shape overall, but in a cartoony, basic shapes kind way. It is a design choice I am not sure I would make.

I also feel like they could have done something different with her car kibble. Like if they hadn't gone through all the effort of making her legs super human shaped sexy legs, they could have made them hollow found a way to have some of the back wheel panels fold up into the backs of them, for rough example.

all in all, its another frustrating masterpiece where the design choices hurt the overall release, and a preorder I can't cancel. :HEADHURTS: :BANG_HEAD:

Oh well, at least she has a bonus mode 2.04 mins in, the crazy car face for a combined mode, she has raised the bar over Mixmaster forming the head of Devy.

She looks like an old woman who didn't take care of her body, the chest is too low, the face looks emaciated and the thighs look malnourished.

Firstly, @Rodimus Prime, I agree :D

And Jelze, I looked at Novastar and while I see what you mean at least the chest blends with whatever proportions they are going for. The big problem with this arcee is a real big disconnect, the chest just doesn't seem to be the same piece as the rest of her torso. I mean, we know it literally isn't but that makes it really hard to sell the look. Reminds me of how much I hate the Tracks/Roadrage mold for how the front and back just seem to be disconnected pieces rather than be part of a whole robot.

I feel bad for Arcee. She's over-sexualized. Nine times out of ten they try to make her robot mode way too human-proportioned, so she ends up with the mother of all backpacks.

Jeez. If you find Arcee "over sexualised", what is it for you when you come across any woman on the street? #-o >:oP

What you should say (and have said in a way) is that she is too human in her core design. Obviously making her backpack unavoidable. It would be the exact same thing with a male transformers whose robot mode would look more like a He-Man figure rather than a robot. He too, would have no choise but to pack his whole vehicle mode on his back. Kinda already happenned with AoE voyager Galvatron.

Well, this is it.
My MP Arcee is officially on her way.

Depending of how soon I'll get her, I'll post many pictures and my impressions here.

Based on my previous Amazon.jp orders, once they announce a thing is on it's way, it arrive ridiculously fast. We will see with the Holidays and the you-know-what.

Looking forward playing with Middle-Aged Arcee! :-P

Yeah, mine says she'll arrive January 6, but I'll be surprised if she doesn't show up next week. DHL is usually only 4 or 5 days for me.

The things we can do with 14 yen it's just limitless!

Seriously, I'm glad to have Obasan Arcee. I'll post comparison pictures with Big Firebird's Nicee when the time come. It would be like comparing a 45 year old veteran with her younger, more carefree 18 year old self. :-?

:michaelbay: GOT HER! :michaelbay:

So here's my review and lots of linked pictures!

The box is your standard MP box. Small yet effective.

Image
Image

She come packed in vehicle mode with her accessories. Obligatory card and manual.

Image
Image

The vehicle is absolutely PERFECT. All the details are there.

Image
Image

Despite the arms hanging a bit low, the car roll flawlessly.

Image

This beautiful BLURRY picture show that this Arcee manage to actually have the rear of the car.

Image

The interior is perfectly detailled, down to even a painted dashboard!

Image
Image

You can see how everything tuck under the car.

Image

Here's a comparison shot with all the previous G1 inspired Arcees (Except Animated whom I forgot.)

Image

The "tire blow" weapon attach firmly and is pretty menacing looking.

Image

Other guns can attach to the car as well but that look daff.

Image

Transformation is long and hard, but surprisignly not frustrating. Also, everything felt SOLID in hand with nothing seeming fragile or about to break. The instructions have large pictures but sometime, some details are hard to make out. The magority of the transformation is to compress the panels festival that is the car shell in the most compact backpack scientifically manageable.

In the end, we end up with a pretty nice fembot with a backpack that is not too bad in person, considering that the car mode have NO sacrifices. Obviously, Arcee is back heavy and it limit some poses.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The visor is inside her helmet and it's easy enough to put in place. The faces are easy to change but you must mind the alignment of the face inside the head. It's easy to misplace it. But if you do well, the result is pretty nice!

Image

The gun is very easy to place in her hand and it's SOLID. Also, her jointed hands are VERY appreciated. She have the thumb, the index, and the 3 other fingers as a single unit that can move.

Image

Yeas, she have a high collac and "realistic" sagging "breasts". That's an odd design choice but it's not too bad. This Arcee is not the naive young girl, but an hardenned veteran. So it work.

Also....

Image
"Haters gonna hate!"

Yup. She can ballance pretty well. I think her legs may have diecast so it help.

She can snipe.

Image
Image

Compared to the previous Arcees.

Image
Image

Arcee have blast effects compatible with her guns.

Image

And a tiny gun that may reffer to a single episode. Complete with it's dedicated blast effect that can't go to any other gun.

Image

Overall, was she worth the 180$CAN total, shipping and taxes included?
I have to admit, YES. Totally. Contrary to my previous purchase with MPM Starscream, I feel that here, I got the best deal and she's worth every single cents that I paid.

Could this Arcee be better? Maybe yes, but some choices had to be made. Here, it's the vehicle mode that got priority so the robot is a bit compromised with her backpack. As for the saggy chest, it may have been avoided, but still, I love that "older" Arcee.

I highly recommend the official MP. Especially for the Arcee lover who have all the official figures and even some Third Party.

Those that have it in hand. Is there any weapon storage in vehicle mode besides pegging the sniper rifle on the side?

The tiny gray "movie" gun can peg under the nose of the car. That's it. No room for the blast effects nor the faces. Better keep a ziplock or the box nearby for parts storage.

Thanks for taking the time to write review! I have to say, she does look pretty sharp in vehicle mode and pretty dynamic in robot mode. The back kibble is probably the best looking G1 style Arcee backpack out there, it *really* crunches down and slims up (best it can).
