Why? I think the Autobot headmasters from TR were some of the best pieces in Prime Wars, especially Highbrow.

A large part of the appeal with TF for me is the nostalgia... So G1, even with all its flaws, is what I’m interested in.
Headmasters are probably very cool... However I’m just not that interested.

But, I still got Skullcruncher yesterday!!!!

But Headmasters are G1? :???: they were the main draw of the final set of the G1 cartoon episodes (got a whole series in Japan, The Headmasters in 1987)

The toys were released after the s3 range. So while the toys are from Titans Returns, the original characters and gimmick are all G1

Double true...
I wasn’t specific enough in my last post...
While the nostalgia for me is limited to G1, it’s literally limited within G1 so to speak...
By the time Headmasters was ever a part of the cartoon, I had reached a stage in my youth where I had lost interest in toys... Soccer, drumming, & art pretty much ruled my life.
Either way...
I was tempted to get Weirdwolf that same day, but I’m hoping some of the recent leaked info ends up coming to fruition... So I’m trying to keep my spending in check for a while.

edit:
Also, as I looked at Skullcruncher again this morning, with that packaging, I'm tempted to keep him sealed in the box... If he were packaged in bot mode I would really be leaning towards that.
Like the vast majority of my other figures, I probably will wait to open him, even though I'm a bit anxious to have him in robot mode in-hand.

Ah, I'm with you so 1984-1986 range and cast ;)^

Got myself Highbrow today, so my Autobot Headmaster cast, sans Fortress Maximus, is complete (Half TR, half Retro). Wave 2 has hit in full force, and apparently Hardhead is the case filler for the wave.

Any words on how the soft plastic is on the Decepticon ones? They are next on my list, except Mindwipe has flown off with Wave 1, so he's first to find and buy.

I'm also curious if the soft plastic is any better as I have the Takara version of Mindwipe already, with a broken wingtip, and if the Retro Headmaster version has the same soft plastic then there is no sense in me buying another for it to just break again.

A couple things to note:

- unlike the rest, Gort was unable to get his name back, he's still named "Xort" on the box.
- The box shows Highbrow's original Titans Returns head and not the Legends one for the toy images. The art however, got the right one. Easy mistake to make since they're so similar in design: the Legends one is pointed off on the sides, while the TR one is kept rectangular.

Right on.
Thinking back it's kind of interesting that I didn't stick with the cartoon into that season with Headmasters...
Who knows, depending on how things pan out with other figures, I could get one more...
Most likely Weirdwolf, but maybe an Autobot to have one of each faction.

And for those looking, keep an eye out... In my area I felt like distribution has been complete crap, and I've seen almost every Headmaster from both waves 1 & 2 at least once.

Not sure if it's been reported yet, but the Skullcruncher release has significantly tighter joints in the legs than the original release from 2016, and just feels better in hand in general. There's no longer any searing marks inside the hip socket, the plastic has been visibly made thicker via some kind of small retool.

Driving home I decided I would buy Weirdwolf, keep him for a week or so and decide if I liked him enough to keep...
The only ones left were Hardhead & Highbrow... Now I feel there’s a chance I’ll never see Weirdwolf again...

Uneven paint on my brainstorms vehicle mode :( and a little noticeable patch on the rear fin. Would rather they got the paint correct/even over painting the shields peg which is likely going to rub.

The tampos are super crisp. Would have been nice for a remold to front/shield so the dual guns could be removed or just throw in another gun with him so that it was more like G1. But hey, I finally have him after all this time.

My Highbrow has a paint chip on his chest, plus a slight mismolded groove on his rear which caused a tab on his leg to stress. But hey, could be worse. On the bright side, XortGort is tight, no floppy legs :)

It's funny how all TR Brainstorms have been exclusives: Walgreens, SDCC and now Walmart.

Was Takara's exclusive as well?

That one was main retail I believe, but still out of reach for some. :P

Has anyone picked up Mindwipe or Weirdwolf to see if the rubber used is any different? I'm thinking of a second Mindwipe but only seen him once. If I know he is different I might look harder.

I have new Mindwipe, but not old Mindwipe.

Mind wipe uses the exact same material.

I found Brainstorm yesterday, and I’m surprised at how excited I am about it... I’m not even a Headmasters fan...
I’ll admit, the packaging for these guys has reeled me in a bit.
And I really really like the look of this guy, & mine is still sealed right now!
IF I see Weirdwolf, I’ll probably get him too...
But him, Skullcruncher, & now Brainstorm, & I think I’m good with these guys.

I really, really wish I had picked up Mindwipe when I saw him as I have seen every other figure restocked several times. Why no Mindwipe???

Maybe the rubber wings haven't held up well for some people and they're buying replacements?
