I finally opened my set and if I conveniently ignore that the price if grossly overcharged, it's quite good when bought on sale. However, to be truly perfect I bought the Reprolabels set and the upgrade for JP-93. I ordered an upgrade kit for Kingdom T-Wrecks that I'll modify for the dino. I'll show the pictures of the complete customisations once I get the latest upgrades and do the work.

But for now, I just have to point out that it's nice to have a full colors manual and there's some easter egg inside the packaging.

That kind of thing cannot be discovered nor enjoyed for people who keep all their stuff sealed and unopened.

I love that set but it's even better with upgrades. I bought the Reprolabels stickers sheet and applied the labels on the bots. There's lots of tiny stickers to apply, especially on Tyrannocon.

Then, I bought the 3D printed upgrade kit for JP-93. The kit comes with a knife and it's sheath, plus legs filler for those unsightly gaps. Color matching is bad, but I prefer this than hollow spaces. With the stickers and fillers in place, JP-93 truly shine!

As for Tyrannocon, she have an amazing T-Rex mode, but a very bland bot mode. So the stickers help a lot. Next for the filler pieces, no specific set exist for her yet. So I just ordered the Kingdom T-Wrecks set and then painted the parts in the appropriate colors. I didn't feel the need to paint the toothbrush and the gun. The overall result is perfection.

In that case, if another sale comes around, buy a second set and open that one.

Still, remember that packagings are not meant to last and can decay overtime. Like with the Binaltech Skids that I bought recently. Brand new, but just by manipulating the box at the store, the box's clear windows fell appart. I still bought it. Then I opened it and trash that box.

As for my JP set, I also planned to keep it sealed. However, that box was big and took lots of room. Then Toyhax made a repro set that corrected most of the flaws of Tyrannocon's bot mode. Add the 3D printed upgrade kits and the decision to open the box was easy enough.

No exageration, this is the greatest packaging display I have ever seen on a TF. It's one of my favourie movie scene, re-enacted by Transforming figures. So I did want to keep the scene but also play with them and both is achievable. I'll remove the plastic ties fully later but I wanted to show that you can put them right back in the pcakging after playtime.

Nice tips guys, thank you. I think I will probably snag another one soon and then open that one. I agree this display is the best I've seen.

I realize I never gave my opinion on this figure. At the price I paid for it ($68 USD), it is easily the best bang for my buck when comparing all these Collab sets, obviously. But it's also the most solid set. Giggawat was ok, nothing fancy but it did things right. Really disliked Ectotron. He was very oversimplified for the size and there were issues with looseness of the accessories fitting on his back. Really disliked how loose some parts were for XPanse, it was quite the turn off.

But here, I have very few issues. The TRex redeco is good. I'm sure the eyes could be better, but since I pose the t-rex mode at a profile, it doesn't bother me. And the new headsculpt is great.

JP93 is simple enough but not in a way that detracts me from the figure. Legacy Kickback is even more simple but I wont fault that since it does as is required from the toy. So I won't fault JP93. It's still a nice clean transformation. I see the gaps people were talking about but they arent prominant at the angles I pose him at. And I have 0 issues with looseness, he feel rather solid instead. My only gripe is I feel really uneasy about those clear plastic feet. That joint scared the bejeezus out of me. And I've had too many clear plastic joints break on me. But this hasn't broken yet, so we'll see. Oh and I like the headsculpt and gun accessory. And the alt mode is great.

Easily my favourite of the collabs so far and picking it up at that price was a no brainer. Best packaging too, glad you can preserve it after removing the toys to transform them.

Yes, if bought on sale, it's easily the best collab set yet.

My only two real issues are indeed JP-93's clear parts of the feet, and the waist connector that is way too loose on my Tyrannacon.

And one again, with the upgrades it's even more awesome.

Oh right, the waist connector is indeed loose for my Tyranacon

I love my Rexes and I wonder if they'll repaint it again?

I'll also point out that T-Wrecks crotch/waist pegs are scareingly tight so maybe they "fixed" the issue by making the Jurassic Rex's easy (too easy) to peg and unpeg?

A Chaos Effect deco would be cool.

I think it's just something that varies from copy to copy, because my Tyrannocon Rex's tab together super tight. Assuming we're talking about the tabs that join the pelvis halves.

Got my hands on the set thanks to an Amazon gift card and it being on sale, and I'm enjoying it a fair bit thus far.

Tyrannocon Rex is neat. Her colors work well, and I like her head design. It looks kinda like a blend of G1 Grimlock's head with a robotic version of Megatron's mutant mask. First time owning the Kingdom Megatron mold, and it's not bad. Interesting how the tail is upside-down compared to the original Ultra-class mold from 1996. Speaking of the tail, I still wonder why they didn't make the it detach like in the show. It does kinda restrict the usefulness of the fist.

JP93 is delightful. Basing his head on Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck's nose is unmistakable, even robotified) is admittedly an odd choice IMO, that feels like it might have been better saved for a Jeep robot (same for his role in the box story). But that doesn't make me dislike him. I also know why he's one of the Ford Explorers - the T. Rex breakout was evidently The Scene for big JP sets (it was done in the Mattel action figure line, the Lego line, and even an expensive metal statue).
I love the effort put into capturing the JP tour car look, they did a brilliant job with that. It ends up not bugging me that he has ball joint elbows instead of pin hinge + mushroom peg; ditto for having ball joint hips and transformation joint knees (although the sculpted regular knees above that are a bit cheeky as a result).
What does bug me is the difficulty with tabbing the inner part of the feet in. The tabs don't align quite right with the notches on the moon roof/sole panels, and look a smidge too long. I wonder if filing off the corner that overshoots the notch would make a difference.
Nevertheless, I greatly enjoy the figure overall. Gonna have to take some shots with my Kenner Jungle Explorer (which will absolutely dwarf him lol).

I'd love to see them do more with this crossover, honestly. Like a Jeep Autobot, maybe JP93 with a new head (so as to have two tour cars)... More dinos if suitable molds are made (like, say, if they did a Core-class version of Dinobot) or they're willing to use old ones (namely, Bazooka, Saberback, and Guiledart)...
Speaking of old molds, it's a pity the RID Autobot Brothers' molds are toast, because X-Brawn is a Mercedes M-class and thus could have been retooled into one of the cars from The Lost World. But hey, if that one leaked listing does turn out to be him...

There's that but it's mainly the waist peg. On Wrecks it took all of my might to unclip it and I was scared to break something. On Rex, just a tiny shake is enough to have it come undone.

I did have that set and ended up getting rid of it. JP93 is pretty good, but a friend really wanted it and I wasn't all that attached. As for the T. Rex, I liked the robot mode deco, and if it had been gray- instead if brown-skinned, it could have passed for Grimlock. As it was, I ended up selling it on eBay, making my money back between the 2 sales. Overall, both molds are pretty good, I really like messing with BW Megatron, even if the hip transformation annoys me a bit.

My Rexy currently lives with the JP shelf in robot mode, so she can stand beside the HC Rexy, who is utterly amazing. JP93 lives there too, protecting the humans

My set has joined the "random" Beast Wars crew along the fossilizers and repaints.

Got my Jurassic shelf set up in the Den, and I like how Robo-rexy and JP93 fit in. The work more closely with the Hammond Collection, but they still look nice in amongst a big ole group of dinos.

New Jurassic Park Transformers Crossover Set Revealed Based on Dilophosaurus and Nedry

PostPosted: Thu Jun 01, 2023 8:59 am
by william-james88
This was an unexpected surprise. Amazon will have a second Jurassic Park Transformers crossover set. This one is based on the encounter between Nedry and the Dilophosaurus called Decepticon Dilophocon vs Autobot JP12. Both appear to be fully new molds. Here is the reveal blurb from Gizmodo.

They’re going to be making sequels to Jurassic Park until the end of time, and hopefully one of them takes inspiration from the recent Hasbro Transformers x Jurassic Park mashups, which now include a Dilophosaurus and a Jeep Wrangler that transform into robots—finally giving visitors a fighting chance when the park’s residents inevitably escape and hunt for a meal.

Hasbro has been doing these Transformers collaborations for a few years now, with memorable releases including bots inspired by Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and even the animated X-Men series. For Jurassic Park fans, a collaboration back in 2021 stands out as one of the highlights, recreating the film’s iconic T. rex tour vehicle attack scene, but with a Cybertronian twist. The T. rex transformed into the formidable Decepticon Tyrannocon Rex, while the Ford Explorer tour vehicle transformed into Autobot JP93 wearing a recreation of Alan Grant’s hat, and wielding game warden Robert Muldoon’s SPAS-12 shotgun.

For the 40th anniversary of Jurassic Park, we’re getting another dino vs. vehicle Transformers mashup, but this time based on the scene where Dennis Nedry has an unfortunate run-in with a Dilophosaurus who has no interest in playing fetch. The two-pack includes the new Decepticon Dilophocon who transforms from Dilophosaurus to robot in 20 steps and includes a “venom blast effect” accessory, and the Autobot JP12, based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara staff vehicle, that converts to its robot mode in 23 steps.

JP12 appears to be loosely based on Nedry, with a rain hat, glasses, and a can of Barbasol shaving cream that’s presumably filled with stolen dinosaur embryos—which is kind of confusing given JP12 identifies as an Autobot. Maybe the Autobots are looking to rewrite the Dinobots’ origin story? We can’t say for sure.

The Transformers Collaborative Jurassic Park x Transformers Dilophocon and Autobot JP12 set is available starting today and is priced a little cheaper than 2021’s Jurassic Park mashup, at $75. Starting at 1:00 pm EST, you can order it through the Hasbro Pulse online store, or through Amazon.
