Went to Bot Con on Saturday and had a blast. All the retail exclusives looked cool in person especially that MP Rodimus Prime. I have the Takara 1st release and the Hasbro version actually looks way more polished with facial gray and other features. I'm even a fan of the packaging. This will definitely be the 1st MP that I'll own both the Hasbro and Takara releases. Great price also after spending more that $200 on the Takara. :BOT:

well, it'll be the same size as the previous release. check the galleries here for pics, pretty sure the recent Scourge gallery has pics of him, Cyclonus and Galvatron with Unicron in the back, for comparison.

the rest, I have no clue.

I'm glad to see Hasbro doing Unicron. I never did pick up Takara's as I was on the fence for it for so long that by the time I decided to pull the trigger, it was far too expensive to do so (over $200, sorry, I don't want it THAT bad). He will be mine for certain :).

I'll be getting MP Hot Rod/Rodimus as well. I have the Takara version, but I always did like the red color on the original G1 Targetmaster version better anyway (I figure that's what Hasbro was emulating with this, and the reason it's not pink), and the flames and Autobot symbol look better on Hasbro's in my opinion than they do on the Takara one. I'm not big on the Targetmasters so he'll probably just be sitting in a box somewhere with other misc. smaller Legends figures etc., but Hot Rod will be displayed proudly in car mode right next to my Takara version :).

Can some one help me deside on which to get:
i will not spend more that $120
1 masterpiece rodimus
2 takara jet pack prime
3 amazon exclusive unicron
notes:
i have yet to have ANY leader size optimus/i really need a unicron for my stopmotions/ and i really want a rodimus prime but don't feel like buying the protector kit.

And i will customize the colors on any thing i don't like on the figure, so colors do not matter it is the sculptor itself i CANNOT customize.

It all depends on the final pricing I guess. If you're having to buy the stuff online it's likely to cost more, so where you're able to get it will likely have a bearing on your decision.

I personally don't have any movie Prime's as I never liked his look in the movies (though I am probably eventually going to get a RotF Prime just because he is pretty huge and awesome :P).

To tell you the truth, if you don't have a Unicron (and obviously need it for your stop motion) and don't have a Rodimus/Hot Rod, then those are the two I'd go for as they're likely to increase in price more and be much harder to find than the prime will be (they're much more collector-oriented). With the Takara jet Prime you'll have to get it online of course if you're anywhere except Japan, which increases the price some, though how much depends on where you buy it (BBTS is one of my fav stores, but if you compare their prices to some others, they are marked up pretty heavy). You should be able to swing Unicron+Hot Rod for $120 or less as long as you can find good deals but it really comes down to which figures you want the most and how much time you have (i.e., how long it takes to save the money+the date of their initial availability).

thank you, but on amazon the welcome 2010 unicron is $334, and even though it is being released by hasbro i doubt it will drop low enough for me to afford it. And the unicron part for my stop motions is more of a want. I mean he is part of the plot but i haven't figured a way to warp the storyline enough to allow unicron to really come back from the dead and allow a happy ending(the story line is still not final though!). And if i do make my stopmotions and put them on ytube i am pretty sure people don't want to see bb optimus going agianst leader megatron that i am going to call galvatron. the reason i didn't say takara's version was needed was becuase i could just buy the ''ULTIMATE'' optimus. But i still like takara's better a THOUSAND PERCENT MORE!!
but that was my falt for not telling you about that in the first place. So thanks again and i will take into consideration your input!

That unicron's still no match for the 2010 welcome one. Hasbro went cheap on all the blackwash and weathering  And when hasbro needs to strip the hand electronics for an opeque one, they dont. and they bother gutting botcon stuff :BANG_HEAD:

Yep, Hasbro went for the more cartoony look I guess. I can weather it myself with a bit of brushwork and/or blackwash so I'm not too worried about that (and that's only if it looks absolutely terrible in person). I probably will paint the hand though. I never did like the glowy hand gimmick on Takara's either.

As for pricing, I think they're pushing Unicron at around $60 (think I read that in the announcement, though I could be wrong) and Rodimus Hot Rod should be around $50 so they both should be quite affordable (at least compared to Takara's).

You guys can disagree with me if you want, but I dig the "cartoony" look Hasbro does. That's where the whole thing started with me to begin with- the CARTOON. I know I'm getting it when it come out. Did they say when it will be released?

I bought 2010 unicron for $135 SGD (that's 110 USD) im betting alot that unicro would be $169.90 Cos that's the price of ultimate class... as well as DOTM UOP, yes apparently my toys R us has it on display  but not on slale.

As for rodimus, well grimlock was $169-190 something like that. and takara's rodimus sells for $210 here :BANG_HEAD:

Takara's are always marked up though, especially since import fees have to be paid. I don't know where you hail from, but I'm in the US, so I won't have any customs to pay on the Hasbro figures, that's why I'm estimating the lower prices (they should be very close to MSRP here). If you're in any other part of the world (Europe, Australia etc. etc.) I'm sure you will have to pay a higher price because of the international import fees etc., which really does suck for collectors in other parts of the world because you have to pay such fees whether you buy Hasbro or Takara versions.

As for the cartoony look headsortails, I agree, I really don't mind it at all, and like I said, I'll just have to see it in person to decide if I'll paint it (and I probably won't, only the clear hand to make it match the other one, I don't care for light up gimmicks because I never use them anyway). Either way, I'm just glad we're getting one from Hasbro, because Takara's is now nigh impossible to find, and badly overpriced when you do find it.

Unicron is Supreme, a Class below Ultimate. The price may be bumped up a bit from the previous set price of $50, so expect the $60 to $70 range.

$60-$70 US still works for me, it's still far better than what I would have to pay for the Takara version.

hmm... in asia retail stores price it the same. I did not collect Tfs when armarda was in stores, but i think it's $160 at the least. TFA prime was $199 And yes, ultimate prime is definately $169 SGD.

Keep in mind that im in Singapore. not the US. ;)

Ah, yeah, that's rough. You'd obviously know the pricing trends in your part of the world far better than I so I can't argue with you on that point, and you're facing import fees either way, which I'm sure factors into higher pricing :(.

The Terradive repaint is called Space Case, and uses the alternate head shown in Terradive's instructions. Unicron uses the Armada mold.

The WFC 3-pack looks good, but I don't think it's quite good enough for me to want to get a second of each mold in there. Bumblebee doesn't need to be there as far as I'm concerned though. Instead of him they should have included some incentive for people to rebuy these molds, like the melee weapons of Prime (axe) and Megatron (mace).

When I saw the thumbnail of the WFC 3-pack, it looked good. Full size, not so much. From the thumbnail, I had thought that Megs was actually a G1 Galvatron-themed recolor. Seeing them up close, Bumbebee is the only one that I like very much, and I don't like him enough to buy him, let alone all three of these. I already have all the WFC figures anyway.

I'm not sure I will pull the trigger on the WfC 3-pack but I'm really liking the Arcee. The Jazz mold is still crap. I'll pick up Leadfoot and possibly Unicron since I do not own that head yet.
