What stops me from collecting the MP line is scale. If Hasbro does eventually move on to doing all of Seasons 1-2, there will be no room to display them. Thats why I always joke about them being for coffee tables. I have my 3 MP seekers in jet mode doing a flyover in triangle formation. (right on my coffee table lol)

Yeah, they definitely eat space like there's no tomorrow, but man are they ever worth it. If you want something true to G1, you can't do better than the MPs that have emerged beginning with MP-10. If that's really what you're truly after, I would recommend selling off some of your other gap-fillers (CHUGs and 3rd party stuff) to get the money together as well as the space required for the MPs. I'm telling you, once you get MP-10 in hand, and even Lambor (and of course the upcoming Soundwave) you'll realize that it scratches that G1 itch in a way that nothing else has ever come close to.

I have neither room, nor the want to drop that much money on a single thing. The Cyberverse version however, will likely stand proud with my Prime CVs on my computer desk here. :) Which G1 continuity featured a normal-transformer-sized Metroplex, by the way? Or was that Fort Max?

the current IDW comics have Fort Max being the size of a large-ish normal Transformer. Think Ultra Magnus size, maybe a little bigger. The old Marvel comics had him sized all over the place, but he did wrestle Galvatron once and was not that much bigger than him. IDW's Metroplex is pretty gigantic, as is the one in the FOC game.

Max is much bigger than Magnus in the IDW-verse, but still rather normal-sized as you said.

This thing looks AWESOME!

Now I really hope they bring out a Trypticon of the same scale...

I officially praise Hasbro today.

Take out your camera and take a picture of this post because you might not see it from me again for a long time !

Careful, we might have a thread pop up about you being TOO positive. Image

That's what i was thinking. Where's the huge shoulder cannons and it looks like they have just combined the battle station mode and the city mode together which looks pretty bland if you ask me. thank you Hasbro for trying but unless they release some better images then it's an easy pass just looks like a articulated G1 metroplex

Yep, Hasbro's actually looks like a lot of the custom G1 Metroplexes that have been showing up lately.

No they didn't. In the Marvel comics he was always a consistent size. He was larger than all the other characters, with the exception of combiners and Omega Supreme. Otherwise, he was always the same size. The only time his size changed was when Galen increased his size on purpose, which allowed for the double headmaster feature, but it was explained and fit into the story. It wasn't random like some characters in the cartoon.

Hasbro rep said they dropped about $400k to revamp the mold.

Ahh, that's the custom I was trying to find, yeah. I'd wager they took some inspiration from that one and other similar customs that have shown up lately. Not that -any- G1 Metroplex design is any great departure from any other.

Ah, so it is based on the original G1 toy then? That's kinda what I figured.

Oh well, hopefully they'll drop another $30~$40k (or whatever it takes :P) to make a true FoC version.

Like I said, I will buy this one, but the one I really want is a true representation of the FoC version. Oh well, they probably won't, but maybe Planet X will ;).

Oh. My. Primus.

That is the single most epic thing Hasbro has ever made. Thank you, Hasbro, thank you so much.

Argh...So many lovely expensive toys...Figma Insane Black Rock Shooter and other Figmas, TFC Hercules (or Giant, can't decide...), all 7 Soul of Chogokin SPEC Evangelion figures and the Positron Rifle set that I've seen on eBay...

My wallet will be stinging. Time to get drawing and publish one of those mangas I've been dreaming up for years.

Giant, only because it's cheaper. Remember to get the green/purple variant (unless you like G2 over G1).

Truth be told, if I had the money I would buy Hercules and yellow Giant, with Hercules as Devastator (or rather Devastator number 1, I still need to get the limbbots for my Energon Devastator) and with the power of reprolabels and a bit of paint, transform (pardon the pun) into a less sucky version of Landfill, almost like an Autobot attempt to clone Devastator.

But unless I get rich quick that's never going to happen because the combined total is over £800...Sigh...

I have a sad because of how much Australian retailers will jack up the price. :-(

Import from Japan here I come!

I hear that. I might order a case from BBTS and scalp the excess just enough to cover shipping costs. Would probably still be cheaper than retail.

Unfortunately, I think Blitzwing is the Astrotrain that was reported several weeks back. It may be that the source got his names mixed up and thought he was Astrotrain, not Blitzwing.

I'm totally on the wall with this one, while leaning towards a simple "pass". Namely because when it comes to the Autobot/Cybertron portion of my collection...

1) He does not fit in the Japan exclusive Commander sub-category (as the original debuted in Scramble City: Mobilization and became an Earth Commander in The Headmasters).
2) It has not been confirmed that TOMY will add him to their own "Generations" line.
3) I already own the "Encore" reissue of Metroflex.
4) TOMY hinted* that the "Fall of Cybertron" incarnations tied to their Generations line are tied to their G1 reboot (i.e. "ALL SPARK").
5) And yet, this incarnation of Metroplex appears to be tied to IDW's own G1 reboot, instead of a continuation of "FoC" versions of existing characters.

[*: I have all the Kerokero Ace issues that include "ALL SPARK." So nyah!]

However... I will not rule it out quite yet. That, and hightly recommend it to fans of the IDW/G1 fanbase. (Meanwhile... This is making me rething about praying for a G1 reissue of Metrotitan. But I doubt I will want him.)

You can bet that Takara will release their own version of it (and that it will likely have more paint). That's the version I'll buy if they do. I don't buy any Hasbro Generations figures any more, just Takara (TG) and this will be no exception.

I'm sure it's just on a delay compared to the US release just as Blaster and Grimlock were.
