Sorry to detour the conversation earlier.... back to the matters at hand.

I'm changing my mind with the head sculpt here. It looks like a ghost/flaming head within a crown. Very cool, actually. The clear actually contributes well. I hope he has a nice smoky head in the comic and art... with a floating crown.

So yeah, while I'd still have really enjoyed a straight Diaclone set, this is a neat way to go. (And I do still have my KOToys Powered Convoy to fill those shoes.)

I'm relieved it's not as Movieverse as I though it was from viewing the other photo. The guy does look mean.... like a proper evil leader character.

I'm not really surprised that this head reveal has been controversial at best but thinking back to the original SG set, the heads for Blurr and Roddy got ripped to shreds (and eventually became very popular with the majority of the fandom)

Like SG Treadshot, SG Ultra Magnus seems to use the RtS Laser Prime mold's alternate head, so it's not a BotCon original. Just its debut.

Looks like SG Magnus took a trip to the Movieverse.

And it gets worse.... here's to hoping Maketoys does something to help this figure with its aesthetic shortcomings and serious case of the blues.

Final nail in the coffin for this set. Save me, third party alternate head!

I like the head. Not for Ultra Magnus, but then I won't be getting Ultra Magnus, SG or not, that mold isn't Maggie to me. I'm not actually sure what character that would look good on, but I suppose I'd be ok if they gave us a choice of that or the Prime head when they eventually release the toy (to mass-market) in it's proper colours...black on black. Gimme Scourge, Hasbro-baby!

They should have added black paint to outline a skull face maybe it would help

I shall call him Zombie Prime, he can hang out with Cliffjumper.

It almost looks like you can remove the red portion to reveal a clear skull-like head underneath. I doubt it's does anything that cool though.

That'd be interesting, though it kinda looks like the red may just be painted on.

Either way, I may be applying a light black wash to try and bring out the detail a little. I just feel kinda squirrely about doing any customizing to a Botcon exclusive.

That head mold looks like it belongs on a Bayformer.
