That list is in the making for sure, but I need to try out that alpha bravo mold first and that won't be till Blades comes out (I opted for the Takara Superion).

i would need to try them out as well excluding armada cyclonus as i once had the figure but alas fate had eventually found him and now the crazy helicopter/ yodeling snow thing is chilling in the well of all-sparks

Is this a tank? Thought it was a missile launcher vehicle like 1988 Double Dealer was.

ahhh... but what makes a tank?

im with ya on red alert here, but id argue that C scattershot is a tank. sure hes got a missile barrage thingy instead of a standard cannon, but he's got treads. thats a tank to me :)

I'm with you on Scattershot. If it has treads it's classified as a tank. Those bridge deployers are considered tanks too. But WJ's personal criteria was "single canon".

I just googled anti aircraft tank and found...

Warpath is crap, Darkmount or Skullgrin's tank modes are much better than that flimsy joke of a representation.

Warpath is one of the best Generations toys... They're different, is all.

What makes him crap?

Also Shajaki and Cobotron, I was just explaining my criteria, it doesnt mean that its the same for everyone. Scattershot (both classes actually) is a good example of a transformer that could have counted if I changed my definition of a tank, but I decided to stick to both my personal idea (which is the more generally accepted concept of a tank, having treads and a cannon (or two)) and what wiki said.

These are all pulled from wiki to give you an idea of what I was jotting down:

Red Alert:he now transforms into a cross between a Russian R-400 Oka mobile ballistic missile launcher and a BTR-90 armoured personnel carrier.

Scattershot: transforms into a multiple-launch rocket system which kinda resembles a TOS-1 Buratino (but not enough to be one).

Armada Megatron: transforms into a green and purple Cybertronic tank

BM Tankor: transforms into a large Cybertronic tank

United Frenzy and Rumble: transforming into a dual-cannon anti-aircraft tank

Also, even if I did consider Cybertron Red Alert a tank (which it's not) I wouldnt have had included him

Jokes aside, I don't like that toy. He is way too boxy for me and I find his articulation very limited, especially in the upper body. He wouldnt be on my "best military vehicles" list if ever I made one (but Universe Onslaught would be).

Also, to those who like Heavy Tread, we now have his gallery up.

From a strictly engineering point of view, G1 Sixshot should get an honorable mention. Most multi-form toys have a lot of "meh" modes, but for a G1 toy with only 2 of the "meh" modes, the tank mode is a pretty impressive achievement and deserves to be on this list.

You forgot about Generations Blitzwing.
Sure he has some issues with the triple head gimmick, and the shoulders loose, but he still a great figure.

I didnt forget him (I even have the double dealer mold which doesnt have that issue). But I am glad you brought him up, where would he fit on your list?

Will! Your double dealer's shoulders aren't wonky!?!?! Wow, thats great. Mine are the same as Blitzwing's. Still love that mold, and the tank mode IS nice. Wasn't even thinking of him. Good call superchook.

I wasnt clear. I meant that since I have doubledealer I don't have the face issue (since he doesnt have the gimmick). And even then I still dont think he's worth replacing anyone on this list...because of his shoulders! He also feels super flimsy and I dislike that jet mode. He is not a great toy but has a decent tank mode. I favoured great tank modes with good robot modes. But its ok to disagree, few agree on my Galvatron pick.

Oh, I see.
and hey. your list is great. I'm not trying to usurp anyone one it. I am just talkin' tanks. Same with the thing with those cybertron toys. Just making tankversation. :D

I personally love Generations Blitzwing. I ended up getting the Dr. Wu set for him, and now he's even better. Right now he's a top 5 Generations figure for me.

Best tank.... well even though G1 Galvatron is actually a cybertronian space cannon... he does have treads ^^/

But I can't resists 4 changers Energeon Shockblast / Shockwave
Image

Also as somone mentioned .. prime Shockwave... though I thinkWFC Shockwave is a stationary canon or some kind of station thing..

I do like Giga, but I don't think I could ever be apart of that exclusive club unless there is a KO or reissue.

Image

New Megatron tank might be strong too.
Image

#3 G2 Megatrons
g2 Megatron toys still rank very high for me too as others have mentioned... the smaller air missle ones were fun for the articulation too.

I do love a good tank / canon transformer...

Warpath is an awesome figure and not at all flimsy (especially compared to the Darkmount mold... wtf) Even the (old) legends size Warpath is a great figure, and it's like nothing compared to the deluxe.
