Here's a tough one: Rts Lugnut versus United Lugnut. Who wore it better? Takara's colors look a little nicer with the deeper green and metallic purples, but Lugnut's noggin' is usually gray, not purple. Since this Lugnut was retroactively added to the G1 universe, is there really any standard as how his deco "should" look in that continuity (toy/cartoon/Marvel comic/whatever)?

Personally, I'm planning to get United Lugnut, make him my "Classics" version, and move my RTS version to the "Aligned" display, as that deco was recently repurposed through some of the fiction as the Aligned representation of Lugnut.

RTS Lugnut also appeared in the IDW Monstrosity series in one frame.

If I were to re-design henkei Galvatron, I'd put the chrome on the orange part of the canon. The one on the turret was indeed out of place.

I think Shajaki thought you were talking about the whole mould, not just the mirrory turret

My bad, I thought it was Galva-hate in general, not Henkie-chrome specific hate ;)

:D very good, the eHobby chrome ones the best with exclusive "lubricator" accessory.

Oh absolutely. And I've even heard good arguments about Blurr, with his bot mode being more toon accurate and such. Beauty is in the eye of the boholder ;)

I've just noticed you quoting me as Sir Lube, nice touch :APPLAUSE:

Very nice touch! :APPLAUSE: ;)

"Nice touch."

"Sir Lube".

Not enough lube?

We have another one whch I feel is actually a very good nominee for this thread:

The Generations Insecticons. Here is what Takara did to their chest to accommodate the stickers.

Also, I just recently discovered that Takara's original G1 Predaking was all plastic while Hasbro's had the heavy diecast for the legs, making Hasbro's version far superior. To the point that it was that version which was used as the reissue in Japan.

PERFECT candidate for this thread.
I'm still getting these, because all said and done I can live with the circles (and doesn't look so bad on Bombshell). What bothers me most about these is how unnecessary it was! Remolding costs money, and both figures originally had enough flat space on the chests to accomodate the stupid stickers! What a waste...

Exactly. It's a baffling move for Takara. Why "fix" something that ain't broke? Despite the unfortunate remolding, which may look less drastic in person, as these are blown up pictures we're looking at, not life-sized representations of the figures, I still think Takara-Tomy's Insecticon duo are superior in that they have a matching color scheme, and Bombshell features greater screen accuracy with his gray chest. My hope is that, maybe in another year or two, when they do a Legends Kickback figure, we'll get all three re-released as a gift pack with premium (matching) decos.

I bet your right Jake. Down the road we will get a set. I know it's a long shot but I'd like a set in matching Hasbro deco and original Diaclone deco.

Those are bloody awful, not just the circles either, the colour schemes just seem so flat and bland compared to the Hasbro versions.

I agree with ya, mate. Definitely seem very flat and boring compared to Hasbro's and the chest especially just looks bland.

I think i'm starting a flamewar with this comment, buuuut it's true...

I prefer Hasbro Ultra Magnus rather than the Takara Legends one... Why you ask?
Well, because his colour-scheme it's more closer to his appeareance in the original
Sunbow G1 cartoon... the takara one, even with his painted rims, just looks...
well, I don't like it.

And another case would be CW leader Megatron, Takara version of the mold looks so plain and underdetailed... I know that is a closer look to his original colours, but man, he looks naked :HEADHURTS:

I don't agree with Ultra Magnus, but I defenitely do for CW Megs. Especially with the glorious Reprolabels upgrade!

I can agree with Bombshell. Hasbro's deco really pops and has a nice metallic sheen to the purple highlights especially, but when it comes to Shrapnel, I think they're very comparable. The Hasbro version may have slightly different shades of yellow and purple, but they are just as "flat", and again, not well matched with their version of Bombshell.

With Bombshell, his chest was only grey in robot mode. In insect mode, it was purple like the others, and like the hasbro deco. So Neither is superior, both Hasbro and Takara have accurate G1 deco for one of Bombshell's modes.

True, but Bombshell will most of the time be in robot mode in my display, so the Takara version gives me what I'm looking for, screen accuracy in robot mode. However, the Hasbro version will do nicely for army building some Insecticons. I already have multiples of Hasbro's Shrapnel/Skrapnel to get more Reflectors for my display. The Takara versions will be the definitive characters, while the Hasbro versions will be their swarm clones. I've done similar things with Scourge and the Sweeps and Cyclonus and his "Armada."

I have so many TFs that I'm running out of room and I began putting some away in boxes in my locker.
So, how the hell does an average collector handle troops building?

The only troop building I do is if the same mould is releases in multiple decos, like the Prime Vehicons, that way I can say I only have one of each release, even if they look the same. Also tempted to use the Hasbro and Takara Orion Pax releases as bodyguards for Nova Prime.
