I've only really gotten involved in the fandom (via here) since I started reading the hardcovers of Furman's IDW run. But I just never understood that "Geewun=Anti-Beast" mentality. Especially as those same fans also typically consider G1 to be the pre-Movie stuff only. Segmenting the franchise even further.

Without the Success of BW, Transformers would have been doomed as an 80's nostalgia brand. The kind that are stuck recycling the olden days and basically forbidden from doing anything new EG Thundercats and to a large degree, MOTU.

Yeah, I'm certain there was more behind the scenes with Neo Unicron. We'll likely never know now. I'd like to think, considering the consistently bright colour palette of latter year Beast Era. Unicron would have looked striking. How much colour would have been on display in planet mode/kibble. That's the question :-?

Forget the G1 or Neo Unicrons, I want this Unicron BEACH BALL! :D

This fandom? Absolutely. Especially the more active "Trukk not Munky" crowd during the Beast Era.
But he himself wasn't a beast. I could see some making a special exception for the big planet-former himself. Besides, by 1999, the "Trukk not Munky" crowd had mostly died down, what with episodes like "Possession" and "The Agenda" injecting so much G1 into Beast Wars by then.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:To be fair, as far as I'm able to look up. Unicron didn't appear like that in Neo anyway. He was just an amped up Galvatron. That's why I am so curious about the colour scheme they would have used.
He likely didn't appear like that in Neo because the toy was canceled. The final few episodes seemed like they were building up to Unicron obtaining a new planet body, but the toy's cancelation likely nipped those plans in the bud. And the toy was likely canceled because of low toy sales overall. And the low sales were probably due to Beast Wars Neo itself being a series that (up until the debut of the Blentrons) was just so mid and unambitious.

The Blentrons and Unicron gave it a shot in the arm that it desperately needed (especially for the brand's 15th anniversary), but it just wasn't enough. The show did get better, a lot better, when they were brought into the picture, but by that point it was too little too late to salvage the line enough to see the Unicron toy get made.

Another dropped figure from the line was what could have being Unicron's main minion before it was decided to just use the preexisting Fuzor molds for the Blentrons.

That Retrax repaint/remold concept look pretty BOSS.

I can only image the alternate reality where Retrax mold was really important. Imagine clamouring for an articulated figure of that guy.

Or maybe not considering we haven't seen hide nor hair of the Blendtrons. As a guy who never saw Neo, but who does like Unicron, I wouldn't mind seeing a re-release of those guys. Too obscure and unloved, I guess.

Retrax was one of those, like Polar Claw. That I think would have benefitted from a second chance redesign a year or two later ala Cybershark, Iguanus etc Removing the gimmick and working on the aesthetic instead. Just looking at the concept there, they went one step beyond the other Cyber Beast retools and made Retrax a full on Transmetal.

With a bit of creative license, that Neo Unicron could be redesigned as a Beast Bot. A Stag Beetle comes to mind. Which would still incorporate those larger horns and the planet kibble as exoskeleton pieces. Which could also lead to a redux for the noted Cyber Beasts.

Suddenly, I'm putting this squarely in the "never make" thread... #-o

Soooo, ICYMI, Hasbro had sent out a couple emails teasing something special for Pule Premium members for today (some people seem to have gotten more emails than others). Well that thing was making a limited number of HasLab items, including Unicron and Victory Saber, available for 24 hours, ending at noon on Tuesday.

They both sold out in minutes.

Number available wasn't given, but I'm going to guess these were just leftovers they had hanging around the warehouse intended for return replacements and such. The G.I.Joe Skystriker and the Ghostbusters Proton Pack also sold out just as quickly. The only thing still available is Hero Quest.

Same. I do find the email situation rather interesting. Myself and others only received one last Monday, but it sounds like other people were getting them all week including an hour before they went up for sale. Makes me wonder if they were vetting out people more likely to buy one over people who already had them.
