Pretty excited for this set, I love how Whisper looks and I hope we keep getting more Minicons.

Any chance of Grimlock being restocked on pulse? I was hesitantly eyeing it for awhile and right when I was gonna cave in and order I saw "out of stock" boo

I'm in a similar boat with both Grimlock and Magnus. Regarding Grimlock, I'd say there's a chance because he doesn't have a comic book, and they already restocked hin once, but I wouldn't exactly bet on it

Ah damn I didn't know he'd already been restocked
Maybe he'll turn up on another site on some point, I'll just wait it out

I was torn between him and the Walmart g2 Grimlock and told myself if I found the g2 one at my local Walmart I'd get him. Sure enough I did but it only made me realize I still wanted the SG version lol

It was a real quick restock where he got went out if stock, then like a week later they had more and it stuck around for a little before selling out again. I'm hoping if/when they do their next restock I'll be able to grab him so I can slap some Decepticon badges on him and use him as a reimagining of Trypticon for the core class guys

I also would want to use him as a non-titan version of trypticon. Like a predacon trypticon or something lol

That and I skimmed through stuff about the character and liked the idea of a cold, calculated bot that involuntarily transforms when angry like a jekyll/Hyde type thing. And playing with the "it is I, Grimlock" thing

Canadians have a chance at some SG toys. They are expensive, but ironically cheaper than importing from Pulse.

I would not count on a restock for either figure. Magnus came out last year, and was even eligible for the Pulse sale earlier this year. You will need to get him through a 3rd party seller. Same with Grimlock I would reckon, once they are one from pulse after coming in stock, they are gone.

I finally have SG Soundwave.
It's unfair that Canadians have to pay around 100$can+ to get it AS ITS NORMAL PRICE but oh well.

TlDr review, he's pretty nice, but the "Siege scars" this guy have make me wish for a true update of G1 Soundwave in the SS86 line. Leader class with Buzzsaw would be perfect.

Not pictured, my orange bat from the Siege Select Spy Patrol set will finally have its purpose as "SG Ratbat."

I can't wait to add another Rodimus and sideswipe to this shelf. And I am debating trying to get Nova Prime in here as well

for what it's worth, I think the new SG Megatron and the old Botcon Galvatron work well together as an example of past and future characters

I got the newest set in!

Sideswipe feels good, and I love this green in person. I like the new weapons too.

Whisper is real nice, I like this little guy.

Rodimus is good, definitely better than retail Hot Rod, but I'm still not that big a fan of this mold. But the purple paint and translucent red look sick together.

Got the set just yesterday. Love 'em. I'm on the "like" side of the fence in regards Studio series Hot Rod so I think this figure really nails the look. I'm glad they used this mold over Rodimus. Hot Rod has always had the stronger alt mode.

Love Sideswipe too. I love the slashed out Autobot logo. The colors are just loads better than regular Armada Wheeljack's too.

I think this set really wins because the older toys were based on two molds that were already pretty close to their G1 counterparts. So you don't have weird forced detailing as in Starscream or Megatron.

Here's my TlDr review of the SG Sideswipe and Rodimus pack.

First, this may be the ugliest box art I've ever seen.

Image

The things are wrapped in paper as vehicle, but the extra baggie containing the zillion accessories is well hidden.

Image

Note that Wheeljack's Sideswipe's missile is the new tiny remold as seen in his G2 Legacy self. It barely hold in the launcher and I may have to make another adapter.

Image

SG Sideswipe is really and definitely Armada Wheeljack in funky colors.

Image

There's so much remolding here, SG Sideswipe might as well be a new mold. I love that his ARMADA Car gimmick become batons in Bot mode. The minicon is Armada Accurate too!

Image

Rodimus's vehicle is sexy!

Image

After transforming him, I was reminded in why this guy is a voyager. But if we'd take him back to 2009, Rodimus would have been a deluxe.
He's pretty bad-ass and his Matrix effect can pin on his "needle" hand!

Image

TlDr; this set is worth it.
And if Legacy Armada Wheeljack never happen, I'll eat my hat.

Just got my Sideswipe & Rodimus and I have such radically different opinions on the two figures.

Sideswipe is awesome. It's such a nice remolding to effectively pass as the Armada Wheeljack design. Off the top of my head, the only thing it's missing are the Car Door "Wings" that Wheeljack had in robot mode. And having never had any version of the recent Sideswipe mold, I have to say that it has such a nice, simple transformation with a solid, bulky robot mode. It's just a nice experience all around. And Whisper is great as well. Emulates Wind Sheer's design extremely well but now has good articulation.

Rodimus, on the other hand, gives me concerns. As with Sideswipe, this is my first experience with this mold, and it's a nice figure to LOOK at: sleek Vehicle mode and an excellent Robot mode.

But I'm actually afraid to handle it. There are so many tiny clips and pegs that could snap off, and quite a few places where painted plastic has to rub against painted plastic. I'm all for accuracy, but it feels so incredibly fragile. Sideswipe feels like a Toy, while Rodimus feels like an antique your Parents would have on a high ahelf in a cabinet.

Image

Also, we're now up to three different versions of the SG Matrix and none of them look the same. Which is the "accurate" one? I'm leaning towards Rodimus' version (The one at the top in my photo), since it looks like the inverse colors of the normal Matrix (a Red core with Dark Silver housing instead of a Blue core with Gold housing).

A better question would be does the Matrix even exist in SG? It was never touched upon in both FunPub's and IDW's version AFAIK, so it's pretty much fair game for the toys that have it.

First off is this line truely over or is there a ray of hope sometime down the way?

So I foolishly passed watching any review for SG Blurr and damnnation for making that huge mistake! #-o
I now can't stand the main flaw of the arm parts that don't stay tabbed in and come loose super easy.

Any helpful tips on how to fix this problem and nothing too hellacious for my simple mind. 8-} :VEHI:

A light coat of clear nail polish on the tabs should do the trick.

It should. It's the same practice of thickening the part, and a tab doesn't even have a moving part around it. Unless the tab holes are too small, in which case you should try to shave down the tabs with a razor blade or X-acto knife. Very carefully.
