Great pictorial review. :)

I can't wait for my 3-pack to arrive from TFSource!

A lot of people dislike it but I'm loving the animation colours on Hot Rod, as well as Galvatron and Cyclonus.

Nice work so far. Some of your pictures are a little blurry but only a few.

Rodimus actually looks like a great toy, aside from the painted windows. Makes me really regret having to cancel my preorder.

Galvatron unfortunately looks terrible. They should've gone with a darker grey at least, but I guess they were going for G1 toy homage. Which means they should've left out the orange joints. :p

Looking forward to seeing Cyclonus!

Great work!! I wouldn't mind getting this set, but the animated colors on Hotrod and Galvatron are killing me! Cyclonus is a win though!

I wait for it to come to Target. Seems like the rpice of $54 + Shipping is too high for 3 $11 not-so-repaints. If I'm going to spend that much it will be a true exclusive, like both sons of cybertron sets. I got the animted one now I'm waiting for the clearHenkei Hot Rod one.

Now I love the color of that Cyclonus. That is almost exactly the same color as the G1 toy more so than the Classics version. Though I want Henkei, I think I will get this version. So I have to buy two boxes when they come to Target. Nice review and pics.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the Classics 3-Pack coming out a few months (hopefully) before the Protector might be Hasbro realizing the cross market sales? It seems like a mighty huge coincidence that they reissue a now 4 year old mold for no apparent reason at this time.

I can think of one good reason to do this now. To commemorate the 25th anniversery of "Transformers: The Movie" which came out in 1986 I believe. The color schemes on the figures point to this reason. If this is the case I hope to see more figure packs like this one.

I agree with you that it's not a coincidence, but a way for Hasbro to make some money. I like it though because a lot of people passed on Classics Rodimus when it came out.

Well, we are celebrating TF 2010 and all.

If I see this in stores I just might get it. But I already have both the Classics and the Henkei versions of all of these, so it's no big loss for my if I miss out on them.

Oh wow, Cyclonus looks amazing! The shade of purple, silver painted face and other details just look perfect. I really want this set now, I hope it comes out in Canada.

Thanks for giving us a look at this set! :)

If this does end up as a Target item like we think (know?), what would be reasonable? Thirty to thirty-five dollars? That's about the most I'd drop on these.

The purple is quite a bit different from the original toy's purple. The original toy's purple was closer to the Universe version, only a bit lighter. This new one is lighter than that with a lot more blue to it.

Absolutely not. Hasbro could care less about such releases. I think it's because the Movie will be 25 years old soon and these figures were never recolored in a mass release (only Henkei & BotCon/Club related recolors).

Snow Galvatron would have been so much nicer if he didn't have the giant orange glowstick. A really wonderful set that I'll eventually obtain to complete my Cyclonus Armada. *shakes fist at Cyclonus mold exclusives*

I agree with those who have said that the 3 pack is simply for the TF 2010 celebration. It's just serendipity that has the Protector add on release date several months away from the 3 pack release.

I've got to find my G1 Cyclonus so I can compare the repaint to the original and see how the colours match up.

Well the colors are meant to resemble the cartoons closely, so an orange cannon is accurate.

The 2010 tie in doesn't really work in the States as for the US audience the Movie was 2005, Season 3 was 05-06 and Season 4 was 06-07. Transformers never made it to the far and distant year of 2010 :D

And to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Movie, it's about a full year early.

The figures look great (well Hot Rod and Cyclonus do) and we're all planning to buy it and I think that's all that matters to Hasbro!

Nice review, cool pics, but I prefer the original decos for all three of the figures (yes, even Cyclonus), so I'd definitely pass on this set. If I didn't already have them, I'd be grabbing this up, even with stinky Galvatron in there.

^ These are the 2010 instructions for Rodimus, from the 3-pack. Hasbro wouldn't post these on their US website unless he was coming to the US, I just can't imagine another reason why.

And Target is confirmed. It was said during one of the panels or a Q&A, something like that.

We just don't have an in-store date.
