Give me a reason to buy the HA Basics.

Other than the fact that they're awesome.

See, I have these rules about what I add to my collection to prevent overspending and overcrowding. Basically, to prevent just this sort of reasoning I'm about to suggest...

The rules are, I don't buy figures unless they're an homage of a character I like (G1 usually, but lately they're homaging Animated and Cybertron), OR the figure is so epicly badass and awesome that I just can't say no. Skyhammer for example.

I also don't collect Human Alliance because I stick with the traditional size classes for the movie figures.

So these Basic HA guys don't really look like any established characters, even if they are named after some, and while most of them are definitely awesome, I wouldn't say they're necessarily epic. But they look like damn cool little scouts.

Here's what I need you guys to do: Suggest creative stand-ins Neo G1 style so I can fit these Basic HA guys into my Movie collection. For example, I was thinking Whirl looks kinda-sorta-maybe-not-really like G1 Sandstorm's helicopter mode...? HA Sandstorm in turn looks like...well, anyone green, except for the head. So the closest thing I can think of is Hound. But maybe there's some obscure Micromaster I'm not aware of and like Breacher I can easily welcome these guys due to their heritage?

Make suggestions, I'm feeling impressionable right now! And I haven't bought any TFs for a few weeks.

My reason was 'to make your other figures look better' but then you wanted something more specific...so I got nothin'.

Backfire's robot mode reminds me of a Pretender inner robot. Icepick and Sandstorm are basically GI Joe vehicles, which is good enough for me. Thunderhead has Action Master Rollout's colours, but inverted. Now that I'm looking at the wave 2 guys, they're awesome and all, but Whirl could be a good GI Joe or Cobra helicopter (kind of like a Fang) and Tailpipe, well, everyone had motorbikes in the 80s. I've passed on Icepick and Backfire for now, and missed the pre-order on Whirl, but already have the rest on order, and will scour the local area's Argos's for Whirl when they get them in.

Two names: Sergeant Chaos and Master Disaster.

I would say:

Icepick: Maybe call him Twin Twist ( http://www.tfu.info/1985/Autobot/TwinTw ... ntwist.htm )? He has one of the most unique and yet still cool looking robot modes to date, and a durn good vehicle mode. You could always say the name was based on his twin treads, but the Autobot / Decepticon thing might be a problem...

Sandstorm: I say call him "Rollbar" ( http://www.tfu.info/1987/Autobot/Rollbar/rollbar.htm ) or leave him as Sandstorm. He has a fan-made mode involving simply hiding his head in robot mode and connecting his roll cage that turns him into basically a Powerloader.

Backfire: Erm... I got nothing, without going TOO far out of G1 style. That, and I REALLY don't like his robot mode.

Thunderhead: Umm... Rollout ( http://www.tfu.info/1990/Autobot/Rollout/rollout.htm )? He has a lot more in common with Cybertron Scrapmetals, though.

And Series 2:

Autobot Whirl: Obviously, Whirl. Except for the head and color, he looks a LOT like G1 whirl in robot mode.

Tailpipe and Pinpointer: Maybe Groove (having left the Protectobots and gained a Targetmaster - http://www.tfu.info/1986/Autobot/Groove/groove.htm ) ? Looks like a good pair, though...

There is going to be Dragstrip in one of the upcoming waves, which may end up being the first HA Basic I get (although I might get a few others for weapons, at least if I can get them on sale).

Random tidbit of information. HA Icepick's bio suggests that he's the same Icepick from the Powercore Combiners line. That would technically make him an homage.

It's actually vague enough that he could be the G1 Icepick.

Backfire transforms into a CPC, so you could call him any G1 targetmaster you wanted to.

Thunderhead is like a perfected Scrapmetal/Cobybot.

there's bound to be a minicon that Sandstorm can double as.

Whirl is just too awesome not to own.

Tailpipe is a MASK vehicle. I cannot think of any other homage for him.

True, but his colors are more similar to the PCC line's Icepick. Plus, I was always under the assumption that the PCC line was a subline of the movie-verse.

I bought PCC Icepick on clearance to repaint his counterpart into Fracas...the Icepick fig is sh*t, though. If the HA fig is an homage, he probably sucks, too.

Actually, the Icepick HA figure is REALLY good. It has great bot mode articulation and it gets tons of bonus points for being a Snowmobile (or whatever they're called). However, I think the PCC Icepick is awesome, so take my opinion as you will.

Is the HA one an Autobot? The PCC one is a Decepticon, right?

Who do you think he needs a real gun more than anything else?

I like the Rollbar idea, that could defintely work. Interesting suggestions, guys, keep 'em coming! So far I'm pretty sure I want at least Sandstorm and Whirl.

Nope, HA Icepick is a Decepticon too. So far, he's the only Decepticon in the HA line for DotM, but Dragstrip will change that.

Yeah, I think PCC Salvage's bio related to Movie Salvage from the 07 movie.

If I were to try to convince you to get one of these guys, it would have to be Icepick. He really does look awesome.

Warning, though - Backfire has, without a doubt, the WORST robot mode of any -humanoid- figure in the Movieverse.

@^:He's still not worse than that ROTF Scout Class RV guy, and personally I think IcePick's Bot mode's worse, but I don't own either.

TailPipe looks pretty cool to me, if I get any he'll be the first. Cool-ish head sculpt, decent bot mode, and a cheap little TargetMaster gimmick. Too bad his "weapon mode" is pretty...terrible.

Here's why I buy em.
HAs go great with Alternators (remember those?) They provide human companions for Alternators and MP Optimus Prime. So for no other reason, buy em for the humans.

you know perfect efect rumble/frenzy would be better...dual wielding in robot mode and can stand with legends ravage and WFC Soundwave if need be....hmmm so them and a lot of money or Backfire and about 7 bucks
