I guess Takara will go with the red head, while Hasbro will likely use the black one.

Personally I would want a red head.

Dud seriously, why? Soundwave never had the ability to function as a radio, apart from that radio that was shaped like Soundwave, Blaster was the guy whose toy had the ability to function as a radio with a tiny radio in his cassette deck.

Why are you insisting on Soundwave's MP toy having a gimmick the original never had, or you know, he never had in the show.

Soundwave isn't a radio, he's a cassette player, well technically he's a mini cassette player/ recorder as in what journalists use to record speech.
So if he should have any real world gimmick it would be to record sounds and then play them back, which would be pretty pointless and silly, considering that no other MP toy does anything like this.

You want to use Soundwave to listen to music? Then go buy that stupid radio and be happy.

I don't care that g1 soundwave never had a radio it's not the point. Why do people gotta cry about things and if he's a recorder that journalist use that's really bad because even back in the 80s they didn't look like that. And I really don't care what he is because he a radio/casset player he has a speaker in each leg for stero sound a recorder has one speaker for mono sound. Crappy sonicron is a recorder that's what a recorder looks like and for the money I would just think it cool to have the stupid gimmick. You may like to spend over $100 on $10 worth of plastic but I like my money's worth if I gotta pay full price. But that's just me but I guess I'm wrong for wanting a little extra because it's not g1 enuff seriously certain people make me hate g1 sometime and that's sad and no where have I ever read on a box or heard by takara that the masterpiece line is the definition of a g1 toy because mp-10 isn't really g1 looking at all

Soundwave had no speakers either, just a headphone jack. Hence the "Stereo Sound".

That's Classics/Universe/Generations repaint logic, not Masterpiece repaint logic. The MP line is made to be G1-accurate. G1 Breakdown was never a repaint of Sideswipe, thus he has zero chance of being one in the MP line unless the dynamic of the MP line changes.

If nonsensical repaints come out, it'll be a dynamic change for the MP line - it won't be what it once was. If you can't understand that, I'm not sure what else to say.

(*waits for someone to point out the black repaint and white repaint of MP-1*)

On a serious note, i wasn't aware of the MP line being painted in a say "ehobby" logic as opposed to a "classics" colour schemes, thanks for pointing that out. But like i said, the mold is there for them to do whatever they want with it.

What you consider to be true or not has no baring on reality. The only time Soundwave was a radio/ cassette player was the crappy Tits version, which is sh*t.
microcassette recorders came in all shapes and sizes and you know the modern ones don't look like old-school ones because stuff changes over time and is updates, you might have also noticed how modern cars or computers look different from cars and computers from the 80s.

But if you want to play the "You're wrong because I consider it something different" game. Well two can play at that.

I consider Soundwave to not be a microcassete recorder or a radio, because he's obviously a VHS recorder/ player. I mean he's boxy, takes cassettes, and he has buttons on him. I personally have never seen a radio or a microcassete player that looks like Soundwave, so he has to be a VHS player and everybody who disagrees with me is wrong, stupid, evil, and the spawn of Satan.

He better be able to play back VHS cassettes because if he doesn't that would be a rip-off and he would suck. Oh and he better have size mass-changing so he would be life sized in bot-mode.

And nobody wants Soundwave to come with a radio function for these reason:
  • Not accurate to the character or his alt-mode
  • Only serves to jack up the price
  • Nobody would use it, because they have a radio already (just like nobody uses Music Label Soundwave as an MP3 Player)
  • Would likely hinder design and awesomeness of the toy
  • Nobody uses a radio anymore

Of course the molds are theirs to do what they want with them. But what I'm saying is, given the evidence laid out, they're just doing repaints of what the G1 molds had. And if in the very unlikely event that they do have a Classics-logic repaint, which IS possible no matter how unlikely, it would change the theme that they themselves had for the MP line in the first place.

Was there a black repaint of vintage G1 Optimus? Yes. A white repaint named Magnus? Yes. A black Hot Rod repaint? Yes(though chest colors are different). A Breakdown repaint of the vintage Sideswipe mold? No.

Non-G1 versions of the molds are very very unlikely.

That would be nice if they actually had a battery cover that removed and they plugged in like batteries. Most version of him do do that in a way even deluxe Wfc store kinda like batteries in his chest

I think that's not going to be a problem. I hope though that they'll be able to hide the gaps in the back of his alt mode so you don't see the robot parts, so it looks like a solid tape deck.
I wonder if he'll have some sort of LED gimmick, it would be cool if you could press his buttons and his eyes light up or the "Rec/Batt" light goes on^^

I'd like to see his new cassettes, if they turn out to be bigger than the old G1s than I can't wait to see their new transformations :D

Then would it be safe to assume that we could potentially get Masterpiece repaints of the following?

MP09:
Clear Rodimus
Lucky Draw Gold

MP10Convoy:
Bape
Bape Camouflage
Exile
Gold Trim

MP11 Starcream:
Black Version
Coronation Death Mode (ala Sleep Mode Convoy)

Considering they are all repaints of MP figures which themselves were based on repaints of existing G1 figures, there should be absolutely no objections to their G1 related figure lineage, should there?
