Botcon 2012 Exclusives Confusion

So I just recently, (as in months ago) got in to collecting Transformers for the first time since I was a kid.

I don't even want to speculate how much I've spent in the last few weeks. But I live in Texas and when I found out Botcon was in Dallas I decided I wanted to go. Plus save the money to get the biggest and best pass (as well as join the Transformers Collector's Club). And bring more for the stuff they were going to sell.

But lately, over the last few days I've seen some toys that are supposed to be part of Botcon 2012 exclusives (like the Wreck-Gar from this http://tformers.com/transformers-botcon ... /news.html ) popping up on Ebay and such, and talks about 80% of packages selling out, etc.

I guess I'm just a bit confused, if I want these do I have to buy now and not at Botcon, and if they are part of Botcon why are they being sold now?

Sorry if I come across as ignorant. I'm really interested in this community and just super confused is all. Any clarifications (even stuff you think everyone should know) about the whole process, and Botcon 2012 in general.

Botcon 2012 was back in April. There won't be another Botcon until next year.
If you want these ebay or other outlets will be your only source at this point.

Right, I understand. I apparently confused myself. These are from 2012 not 2013 that I intend to go to.

I feel kind of dumb right now.

It won't be in Dallas next year.

Sets haven't been announced yet for next year. You will have to wait.

Here's what you need to know:

1) The location varies year by year, and can be anywhere in the continental US.
2) The time frame also varies, but it's usually held in the second quarter of the year.
3) There are several kinds of Convention Exclusives:
  • The Box Set, which usually consists between 5 and 7 figures of different sizes
  • The Attendee Freebee, given to the ones who actually show up at the con
  • Souvenir Figures, which are bought on the spot at the con. Usually one is a so-called Troop Builder, featuring 3 of the same generic character.
  • Customizing class, aka "build-a-figure"
Only the figures in the box set are announced, one by one several months in advance.

I feel your pain though, I have a home in Dallas, TX, and this is the 2nd time I had to miss out on a con: BotCon 2005 was in Frisco.
