I figured it went without saying that it'd include a trailer of some kind, for the "Super Ginrai" or Powermaster mode; the opinion of Magnus with trailer is a popular one, Ginrai's would be no more complicated.

As for your suggestion... We must remember that it is unlikely they'll release the robot alone, so any colour change or theme would apply to his packed-in trailer as well. It's grey already, and a ghost trailer would be a funny thing to see!

If we're sticking to reasonable repaint theories, then I'd say G2. No new tooling is required, and it's different enough that people may bite.

If Hasbro and Takara are serious about turning Masterpiece into a main line of a number of figures a year, then they need to stay away from the clutching-at-straws repaints. I'm going with Ultra Magnus. A proper Ultra Magnus.

i love when these things show up the wild speculation goes to new levels of ambitious and the arguments for the insanely ambitious concepts that we will blatantly never see go into overdrive. Why post a silhouette for the MP10 mold if its for a magnus with armour? why hold back something so major we would literally cream ourselves at any sort of confirmation?
Personally, till ive got MP soundwave in hand i dont give a flying crap about any other MP that may be released (except Galvatron, id wet myself at that)

Logically i think its an MP10 repaint, nothing more, nothing less, maybe a re-release without the trailer and a few fixes. Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy is my hope (if you can call it hope) as im a whore for black repaints. we had a massive run of new molds (Grimlock, Robimus, MP10, Sideswipe, Soundwave) and a few retools (starscream, Sunstorm, Red Alert) to come, i can honestly see a repaint to make use of the engineering of the MP10 (god knows MP1 got reused enough). I know theres an attitude of 'if its magnus it must have a trailer as armour' but seriously, the cost of engineering a GOOD mp trailer that breaks down into functional armour... the engineering cost of that would push the price sky high. theres a would of difference between what fansproject put out as their trailer and the G1 version, and classics prime sure as heck isnt MP10.

If this albino prime doesn't involve proper trailer armor, I'll flat out refuse to buy it. I realize the world doesn't revolve around me, but I'm sure a LOT of other masterpiece collectors feel the same way.

If they were to give us a Masterpiece Ginrai, I would die of happiness.

...BUT, sadly, I do not believe that a simple redeco of MP-10 (with or without a new super mode trailer) would be a justifiable way of giving us an MP Ginrai. Ginrai would need, no, deserve his own mold since the the only thing he really has in common with Convoy/Optimus on an identical level is his head. Everything else about his body is a new design, different from Convoy/Optimus. Even the place meant of his smokestacks and windshields is different. to do true justice to the character, Ginrai should have his own mold.

I was under the impression that the new direction of the masterpiece line was to be Scalable G1 Cartoon Accurate Depictions of the Characters. Am I making this up or is this wishful thinking?

IF this is true, than really Ultra Magnus is the only option unless Takara is selling the "Dead" or even "Undead" Optimus from the movie or Season 3. IF its a "Proper Ultra Magnus" as already quoted, I would happily dish out $300+ for a Takara exclusive. Potentially tho, they will have already made money on the mold thru MP-10 and TRU Exclusive hopefully keeping price in line with MP-10's Takara Price Tag as they are only engineering the trailer?

IF its any MP-10 repaint and NOT a proper Magnus, the whole Masterpiece line is jeopardized... IMHO.

I'm just curious, how would the fandom feel if TTomy pull out a stunt like Igear PP01 Ultra which they would release the white Magnus robot cab first and then promise the trailer to be followed some where down the road? As we know, Igear never release the armor til this day.
For me, it's a win-win whether it's just a white Magnus or the Ultra version since I collect them both. As long it's not another Prime repaint black/gray/Nemesis/Scourge, I'm all happy.

I agree with what most have expressed. The two most likely options are:

-Ultra Magnus
-Nemesis Prime

BUT I find this unlikely, because Ultra Magnus isn't as well known state side and might be a harder sell... that combined with the extra costs...

OTOH, they might be trying a show of force by showing up Fansproject and winning back a few fans to the official brand...

They don't have to stick to that but it looks like they will. I'm a little dissapointed if it will just be a white Prime in armor but that isn't enough to stop me buying it. The MP10 mold is very impressive. Please give us the armor this time so we can have a proper Ultra Magnus.

I respectively disagree with Ultra Magnus not being well known here in the states... Movie, Season 3, Headmasters, Animated, Prime Toyline. Nemesis/Sleep convoy aren't nearly as well known. AND we did see Rodimus whom I think would have similar recognition factor as Magnus.

I definately doubt we would see a US Release and I doubt it would be a hot seller UNLESS it includes the trailer.

I fear it's only wishful thinking however. How would the Trailer Armor impact Ultra Magnus' height? Would that be a potential issue as it could upset the "scalability" factor?

There's always the possibility of a white repaint for MP-15 and then, after we've all shelled out the cash, MP-15A is optional armor. Goodbye, $$$!

Seeing how that they have just released their third Convoy in 2011, and have recently announced that they were working on Ultra Magnus... I am assuming it is Ultra Magnus.

It better be Ultra Magnus with armor.

I believe it is. Takara seems to be really striving for perfection with regards to bot mode accuracy with the current run of MP's, and I believe that this (assuming it is Magnus) will be no exception. They know all too well that white Prime does not a cartoon accurate Ultra Magnus make. He needs a trailer. That trailer needs to convert into armor that makes him appear as he did in the cartoons and I think that finally, that's what we'll be getting.
