I don't think a single iteration of Transformers has been "liked by everyone," so that's an empty statement. Beast Wars saved the franchise, after all. And let me say, if my kid self from 1996 got transported to the present day, I would gobble Beast Hunters up. I think it'll do fine.

I think the TF franchise is running off of the momentum created by the Michael Bay movies. TF Prime seems to be very influenced by the Bay movies. (Optimus's aesthetics, Arcee being a blue motercycle, Bumblebee's missing voice, etc) With this being said, I dont think todays kids will embrace the change. I wasnt collecting in the 90's but I did see a few episodes of Beast Wars when they were brand new and I didnt like it. I was like "this aint Transformers, WTF is this ?" I could see kids thinking along these lines, especially with TF4 in the works. This will get phased out as quick as animated...

Beast Wars was insanely popular in its day. You can't claim that kids won't like season 3 because you didn't like Beast Wars. All we can do is wait and see how the show and toys are received over time. If season 3 works well it'll be a hit, even if the toys aren't the greatest.

Oh sweet Primus that is terrible. The rear Beast Mode legs really kill it for me. They just look like his regular legs but hideously contorted. And not good hideous, like the Mass Production Evangelion Series. Bad hideous, like the G1 Ironhide figure.

And as for that paintjob...EURGH.

The tail and the claw weapon are cool though. I might get it on the secondary market for conversions.

Ripclaw is a female!

Hmm. Not looking too good. Have to agree that it's probably a brand new mold. The FE figure would probably be a little on the big side. This one's legs don't look long and slender enough to be a First Edition. I suppose making Starscream and Bulkhead deluxes frees up voyager space for new characters which I'm cool with.

Frankly, if I wanted a slightly beastly looking upgrade for Starscream then I'd get the RiD voyager. ;)

Aren't these kinds of features determind by Hasbro's big Transformers recipe book? (I forget what they call it.)

Well yes, the movies are currently the driving force behind the franchise, because they made a combined total of $2 billion and brought the franchise to untold heights of popularity. So that influence is going to be seen in pretty much everything Transformers going forward.
TF Prime seems to be very influenced by the Bay movies. (Optimus's aesthetics, Arcee being a blue motercycle, Bumblebee's missing voice, etc)

Well yes. Originally the artists recruited for the Binder of Revelation were told to mix movie and G1 aesthetics primarily. Prime leans more towards Movie and Animated. I say it's the best of both worlds. But that's just the aesthetics. The similarities end there. TF Prime is good, for example, which is more than can be said for the movies. Also, character depth, personalities, human interactions, it's very different from the movies.
With this being said, I dont think todays kids will embrace the change.

Kids love:
*Robots
*Cars and trucks
*Monsters
*Dinosaurs
*Aliens
*Shooty things
I don't think kids will hate Beast Hunters any more than they hated Beast Wars or the myriad beastformers in G1. Or did you forget about those?
I wasnt collecting in the 90's but I did see a few episodes of Beast Wars when they were brand new and I didnt like it. I was like "this aint Transformers, WTF is this ?"

Well you missed out on a hell of a show. It was, for a long time, the best Transformers media ever. Some might say it still is.
I could see kids thinking along these lines, especially with TF4 in the works. This will get phased out as quick as animated...

I predict that the Beast Hunters line will last through early 2014 before making way for the Bayformers 4 and 30th Anniversary toys. I DON'T see kids absolutely hating Beast Hunters like you're predicting. I'm sorry you don't like it, but your interests aren't shared by Hasbro's target audience.

that looks alot like a REALLY redone first edition screamer,
one i actually like :D
I might buy two, one to stay a screamer, the other to be repainted as
another character.

This thread just saddens me greatly. :-( The sheer amount of hatred and disdain for Beast Hunters shown here is just unremarkable.

Honestly, I am totally psyched for this change! I am loving all these new Mad Max style upgrade designs that make everyone look like they're in some kind of "Dragon Mode" type powered up form. And all the Predacons appear to be dragons, dragons, and more dragons galore! I loves me some dragons! 8-)

And the gimmick now is the long-awaited return of projectile-firing weaponry that's we've been missing since before DOTM and its mostly mediocre MechTech gimmick.

Not to mention that the whole thing just looks so FUN! I haven't yet found the Wave 1 Deluxes, but I've heard almost unanimously good things about them from those who have them. Bumblebee looks like he could be the next Murderbee, Wheeljack is such an extensive retool that he's practically a new mold altogether, Soundwave's just a boss, and Lazerback is said to be a stupendously enjoyable figure. :D

And, the whole thing just has this fantastic feel of imagination and wonder, with the designs all being themed around "mythical" forms instead of "realistic" forms. Realistic forms are what we've had since 2006--Animated notwithstanding--and it's felt like the line has been in a sort of rut ever since. Now, the imaginations of the toy designers are no longer limited and restricted to what we perceive in our real life reality and are now free to run wild and expand beyond the realm of the natural and further into the supernatural.

Many are hating on this change almost just as badly as the the G1 crowd hated on Beast Wars back in 1996, but look how well that turned out. Granted, this "Beast Hunters" isn't exactly the same beast (pun intended) as Beast Wars and is being made by different people. But so far things are looking up from here on, IMO. I've grown tired of the uber-realistic feel that we've been stuck in for so long, and my favorite parts of TF: Prime have been all the lore-based and mystical/legendary components like the Star Saber and the history flashbacks like with the Thirteen and Orion Pax/Megatron. If the show finally decides to steer away from the seriously-overdone real world feel that it took from the movies and go in more fantasy-based route, then I say more power to them and look forward to it greatly. ;)

I agree. This is also my gripe with video games and animation in general: not everything needs to look real. if you have the ability to create wonderful and fantastic things; by all means do so.

I'll stick with Prime, no matter how they look. The writing has only gotten better with time, and will surely continue to do so! And besides, the spikes upgrades are awesome! The Predacons released so far don't jump out at me, but I know things will get interesting! I'm really looking forward to Hun-gurr and friends in CV scale! Loves me some (G1) Terrorcons!

I've always loved beastformers, but cautious with these guys because I've been very disappointed with many of the Prime toys so far. Waiting for reviews before committing to anything from Beast Hunters (except for Smokescreen, he will be mine).

Not interested in the non-beast stuff (except SS) because it is either crap or half-arsed IM(not so humble)O. When a line is at least half remolds (if not more) then I tend to save my cash for something better ;)

I'm going to be all over this line. The only figures I think are bad so far are Soundwave & Ripclaw. Soundwave's colors are horrendous, but I want Ravage. Ripclaw's colors aren't as bad, but it's still disgusting. Therefore, I'll wait for Ser-Ket. If the turqoise was silver like on the box, I'd be all over her too.

Oh, that sounds dirty.
