As a result, both mediums get homaged with Strika representing the show and Obsidian the toy.

Rated X mentioned the GDO Powerdive toy as a possible reason for Hasbro making them go with Obby's toy colors since his show colors would be similar.

But honestly, would you think Strika would have been as well received as she was if she had her less-than-awesome toy colors? Those show colors on Strika are gorgeous and I'd take her even without Obsidian. =P~

I would've preferred a matched pair wither Cartoon or Toy colours. One of each just doesn't make sense really and is kind of like a shoulder-shrug really.

I was going to make a pun about you taking Strika while Obsidian's back is turned, but I really can't think of a good one which is kind of a rarity actually.

At least the double entendre was noticed.

Those are Strika's BM cartoon colors.

While Animated Strika has them too, BM Strika had them first and that's who this toy is meant to evoke.

Not Fun Pub's fault. It was requested of them to make Obsidian in toy colors.

It is their fault. They're producing the darned thing. So why not make Strika in toy colours?

I agree about Strika's colors. I keep forgetting she looked so different in BM ... been a long time since I've watched it. I've had the toy out more recently ....

Man, I'd kill to see that toy colored show-accurately.* It always bugged me as a kid how pale she looked compared to her awesome cartoon deco. 8)

* - The Beast Wars Returns toy was closer, but pink =/= purple, and some of the little details were bit off. :-(

The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I think it's great they opted for Obsidian's toy-colors. FunPub have given both Strika and Obsidian their [IMO] best color palettes based on what visual information exists of them. Purple Strika and a big bright green Obsidian? Sign me up!

Curious to see what the final reveal is, that will be the decider for me between getting the Box set or going the ebay route for Strika and Obsidian. Hoist and Skywarp aren't of any real interest for me personally.

I was excited when I heard this would be a Machine Wars set...until they started showing us less and less Machine Wars toys. T_T

What is this Beast Machine Wars, now? D=

You probably stopped reading or listening to the news after you heard it would be a Machine Wars set from your excitement. Because, if you had been keeping up, they specifically told us that they were giving us new characters other than the existing Machine Wars toys. Why this bit of easily comprehensible detail is such a surprise to people now is beyond me. :BANG_HEAD:

Sarcasm duly noted and ignored, but I digress. I did hear that news and was intrigued by it at first, assuming they'd take existing G1 characters and give them a 'what if so-and-so were released as a MW toy,' treatment. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a fan of Beast Wars/Machines. Yes, yes, I know, 'GEEWUN,' but shoehorning BM characters into MW just doesn't do much for me.

Besides...BM is too easily mistaken for standing for something else altogether =D.

(At any rate, I can't wait to see if they do a MW Optimus/Megatron and what those look like!)

In the last bit of BotCon 2013 news today, they have posted an alt mode image for Obsidian on the official BotCon website. The robot mode for Obsidian posted last week can be seen here.

Obsidian and Strika are loyal only to Cybertron itself. They ally with whoever's in power, whoever that is.

I like his vehicle mode, but I still have no idea why a propeller driven aircraft fits in with the Machine Wars aesthetic.

Obsidian isn't just a propeller driven aircraft. He's a propeller driven aircraft enthusiast! :P

Wasp was blue, then dark green. And didn't have any orange.

If only 3H hadn't tanked, we would still be getting AWESOME botcon figures, but no.....FunPub wants screw us over for crap.

But overall, it's Hasbro's fault for revoking 3H's rights to the TF line in the first place.

It looks decent. But honestly, I think that they should have worked with the first Movie Incinerator. Highbrow just doesn't shout "Obsidian" to me.

All 2007 Movie toyline molds are off limits to Fun Pub.

Plus, this was his body before he became a helicopter.

Really? Never knew that.

Technically speaking, the V-22 Osprey isn't a helicopter. It is, however, designed with the functionality of both a helicopter and a plane. So it's kinda a neener-neener.

(And what I love about the Osprey aircraft is that only United States Marines and a tee-wee bit of the Air Force uses them. As an aspiring Marine, this amuses me :P )

I don't particularly care for his alt mode either, but I'd rather he have hands in robot mode.

Ah, but he wasn't an Osprey in Beast Machines. He was a Cybertronian helicopter. Now, Megaplex better be good, or it's no BotCon for me.
