So were there no Transformers exclusive this year at the Tokyo Toy Show? I really liked that Elite Guard Prowl and G2 Dreadwing/Smokescreen set from a couple of years ago, and last year's set wasn't too shabby either.

Isn't Tigertracks the exclusive?

Possibly, unless he's not larger than the G1 figure. My guess is he'd be far smaller, but way more show accurate and articulated. No way they'd stick to scale on that one.

Haha, i gotcha; you're right, that would be the more realistic approach. But you see, that's no fun, so i want a Fort Max the size of a piece of furniture

I learned a lot of official contests aren't really quite so random when I worked in radio. Whenever we drew a winner that didn't match the radio station's demographics, we just kept drawing names until it looked like a good match for the station. Random, yah, but not as random as the first name winning.

I'm sure a couple of those have concepts or prototypes already and they're using the contest to determine which ones go first or to gauge interest in items like the Beast Wars characters (this could be laying the seeds for the 20 year anniversary in 3 years as well).

Just my 2 cents. I could be entirely wrong and this could be exactly what it's being presented as.

That's an intriguing point. It seems I don't have cause for despair just yet - I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your take, Ryan!

this might be true (your opinion on the contest, not the radio station thing, i don't doubt you on that)

i would think that the only thing they have ready for these are loose designs and ideas for all of them. i wouldn't think they have complete working computer models or tangible prototypes yet., i think having working models and prototypes would cost way too much money. . and with the way the MP line is trending, i wouldn't think they'd have most of these ready to go. ... unless the voting is COMPLETELY rigged, and they've already chosen the winner, and already have the ball rolling.

the MP line is really starting to heat up with their G1 cartoon figures.. i don't think they'd set aside a lot of resources for a fan poll figure.

i guess we'll wait and see.

but since i'm more of an american transformers fan (never got into any of the japanese stuff) .. i'd probably lean towards the figures that i'm more familiar with.. but with that said.. i'd ABSOLUTELY LOVE a lio convoy.. that's just a bad ass looking figure.. and with a masterpiece treatment, i think it'd be amazing.. also the mammoth prime.. if they could cut down on the kibble and what not.. that would be one super incredibly awesome toy.

also.. if a beast version of prime does get chosen.. i'd like to see a megatron to go along with it... however, that's where i'd like it to end (until we get there) after that i'd like them to continue the G1 cast. .. after that (if i'm still alive lol) i'd like to see them tackle the beast wars cast and so on.

i feel bad saying this.. and since i've spent a good deal of money on them.. for me, these masterpiece figures are making the classics figures obsolete. but that sure doesn't mean i'm going to stop collecting the classics lol.

A poll also indicates how much a figure would potentially sell.

That was exactly what I was looking for, you gorgeous son of a bitch!

I should also mention that it would seem there was some confusion over MP 20. It won't be a concept car, but a car that had a previously difficult to obtain license. Which by the sounds of things and how they worded it, that license is already in the bag.

Take that as you might, because we aren't likely to hear about it until wonderfest.

We can also rule out anything domestic, as GM hands them out like condoms at a frat house.

What? I am never listening to radio again!

Kidding aside, i think you are right that they are just marketing hype and potentially polling fans interest for the future. But I would think that polling Japanese doesn't give Takara the full spectrum, especially if they marketing their figures worldwide.

That black Sideswipe doesn't look bad it looks kind of good actually. Takara has got me a little worried about the direction that they might be going in with the future of the Mp line. Being the kind of collector that I am I might as well not let these current mps leave out the back door without me grabbing a couple up. Also I can see that the Mp lambos might turn out to be the pinnacle of the entire line from here on out.

So since I'm already getting mp-17 and mp-19 which is my first time ever getting two of the same moulds I just bought mp-12t Tigertrack to go with my mp12 sideswipe. I like Tigertrack's color. Yellow on a lambo is fitting unlike the color black on a supercoupe. And plus its a Lamborghini, the more the merrier. Good marketing for Takara.

Oh and I wouldn't mind them doing a Mp-Robots in Disguise Optimus prime the big red firetruck one. Ok, I'm allowing y'all to do just one mp that doesn't have a realistic alt mode, and only one repaint of it, that's it.

So the other forums are mentioning that Takara discussed at the show MP20 and the car/figure is based on a car license that has been very difficult for Takara to obtain over the years. If that is correct, I am guessing its with Porche/Volkswagen?

That would be good news if its true. I would take a mp Porche Jazz any day all day.

Definitely Jazz or Bee.

On one hand for MP-20 I think Bee, being even more of an iconic character than Jazz, would be appropriate.

However, I think an interview with the designers said their all time dream is to design a MP Jazz.

Masterpiece RID Prime. Nao.

Actually, you know what the MP line needs? Some Movieverse figures. What I wouldn't give for an MP Blackout.

Kudos for being brave enough to say that. Seriously though, poor guy deserves it, the only decent figure he got was the Commander in the dotm line...after he was long dead. That will be a long time off if it ever happens though.

Yeah. Shame, really, he was one of my favourite designs from the movies. His Voyager figure was nice, but way, way too small and not very accurate. If they were to do an MP Blackout-or even a Leader class (although they'd probably go for Grindor instead, which I wouldn't mind) then that would be cool. Especially if it were to scale with Deluxe Scorponok.

If we do get a Movieverse MP it will probably be Prime or Bumblebee, Megatron if we're lucky. Still, we can dream.

We already have MP Movie Bumblebee, in the shape of a Battle Ops Bumblebee repaint. And just so we're not missing anyone, Starscream out of HftD Leader mold.

No more Primes, please.

Given that the Masterpiece trend is to come out w/ a figure that can be easily redecoed into another character, how about Ironhide/Ratchet, Trailbreaker (excuse me, Trailcutter)/Hoist, or even Inferno/Grapple?

Or if they're gonna go w/ a unique mold, how about Sixshot?

Anyway they go, I hope they confine the MP series to G1 (excluding the Japanese-exclusive post Season 3 characters). And I hope they confine it to the first 4 years of G1.

Hasbro already did MP-11 TC, but Skywarp is always a possibility.

Why? Got something against Japanese G1, the Beast Era, and anything else that's part of the original G1 continuity?

G1.. seasons 1-2 (maybe 3) is what started it all.. and people want them to continue with using those characters so we can finish our collections before we die.

plus.. most people who post here are either from america, or speak english.. so a lot of us gravitate to the original american cartoon. .. and those are the characters we want to see.

plus, it only makes sense to do things in order. especially now that takara is on a roll with doing the autobot cars.

i too would like to see some beast wars masterpiece toys.. but i'd like takara to fill out more of the original cast first.

This selection sucks. I'd rather have an actual MP Ultra Magnus before any of these, especially PM Prime.

As big of a Beast Wars fan as I am, I'm inclined to agree with you, and assuming this will be a one-off event (which I think it may be considering Takara is confirmed to be doing at least 1 more G1 release in the form of MP-20) and may just determine what comes next AFTER they complete the major G1 cast members, then I'll take a Beast Wars character now for the 30th anniversary, then continue collecting their G1 releases (assuming that's what's coming as I believe it is), then once that's mostly complete (they'll never do all of the G1 characters, sorry, but that's a pipedream if ever I've heard one), I'll collect the next line of MPs assuming it's Beast Wars (I hope, I hope, I hope), Beast Wars II or Beast Wars Neo.

I'm hoping they do a proper Magnus (MP-10+combining trailer/armor), MP Galvatron, a new MP Megatron that doesn't suck and at least 1 G1 MP combiner. After that, for me at least, I'd be ready for them to jump into Beast Wars. If they do additional G1 MPs (such as the minibots, Ironhide, Wheeljack etc.) I'll collect them, but they're not essential to me.

I have no idea what RAcast said. And laugh at loud at your ideas of them doing a mp movieverse figures. Theres no way Takara can pull off those legendary Bayformers. Only my boy Bay can make that vision of bringing that whole Alien robots to the transformers franchise happen.

Also out of the ten names Takara gave us on which ones was the Transformers we were most interested in them making and the only ones I saw that was good was them making a mp optimus primal or a mp rid optimus prime. Other than that I already stated clearly what I want them to do.

But I wouldn't mind some beast mps especially a mp Taratulus completely life like. Or a mp- beast wars dinobot or chettor or air attack optimus primal I addition to the previously name I mentioned.
And I'm hoping that thes speculations about this upcoming mp-20 turns out to be a Porsche g123 Jazz and repaint drastic retool into g123 Whelljack. Takara can go in so many directions to keep realistic alt modes.
