It has a hidden gimmick.

Stare at the arm funny and it'll break off.
Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue in here...

Was just sitting here on the computer, when *twack* something dropped on the floor. It was his arm.

Wonder why I ever bought it. :-(

True, but with a dremel one can fix those shoulders and make them much better.

I love his car mode.

I also like this, mainly because it's so damned big, but it's also accurate.

He's in scale with the original MP figures. Which puts my Alternators Hot Rod in an awkward situation...

There are reasons I decide not to get in to MP line and MP-09 is one of them I'm happy I'm not in this line.

This may bring up a terrible long debate. Probably easy for people like us who have no fear of modding a toy to say this. But a safety/quality tested and checked brand toy's perfection should not rely on consumers' modification. Unless they print this on their box "Toy may have problems, please fix yourself". Generations Blitzwing falls in to this category as well.

One more label they may need to print on the box. "Toy may miss paints. Please paint yourself". There are a lot of toys fall in to this category.

I agree with paul053 and I also appreciate Mykltron's offering of advice as to how one can improve the toy if they have the means.

I can understand lower price point toys in the main line having design issues from time to time but at the MP level where the intent is to offer a high end product, engineering and design issues such as the poor articulation of the shoulders of MP-09 are not reasonable.

On the positive side, I do think that MP-09, barring certain design/QC issues, is a great looking Rodimus Prime. It fits appropriately into the scale from that MP toy onwards.

If a version 2.0 of MP Hot Rod(designed to scale with the current MP scale standard and designed as strictly Hot Rod) were to ever be brought to market, I'd definitely put aside money to buy it.

As a figure that was made to fulfill the roles of Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime, it was destined to be inherently flawed and compromised. I appreciate TakaraTomy's intent of, I suppose, provide one stop shopping for TF collectors, however, I definitely would prefer two separately designed toys.

A MP Hot Rod, in scale with the current standard for MP figures, with a design and specifically engineered to function as Hot Rod is what I would like.

I'm not that big a fan of the Rodimus Prime design but even so, I would welcome a MP Rodimus, done right, appropriately scaled and designed just to function as Rodimus Prime.

I applaud the effort made in bringing a design like MP-09 to market but aside from getting an A for effort, the execution was not up to what I expect from a premium, high end toy line like Masterpiece.

I agree. The concept was cool but the execution did not work out. I too would havce preferred just MP Rodimus Prime and forget the Hot Rod part. Like others, I also have problem posing him and he really doesn't like to hold his guns.

I'm on board with others that MP Megatron has been flayed way too much compared to MP Rodimus.
