Measuring MP Prowl against Classics Bumblebee, he looks like MP Bumblebee will come up to the top of Classics Bumblebee's head.

Haven't had much time to fiddle with Prowl yet (my niece came over just as I was Transforming him, so I trying to finish that as she pestered me to play. lol.). He seems pretty damn cool, though. Only negative thing I have encountered is that he doesn't roll perfectly. His back wheels seem to get undermined up by the undercarriage. Pressing it upward helped a little, but not completely. Ah well. Not a big deal. I find more enjoyment in the robot form anyway

I've found it's not a clearance issue but a sticky rear wheel. Try spinning each wheel in turn and see if they all spin freely. But, as you said, there's more enjoyment to be had in the amazing robot mode.

For starters, BBTS' prices are always overpriced compared to Asian online retailers. Secondly, the only reason I can see for them to price him that way is that that is what they're priced every Autobot car at to date.

Considering the size of him, a price point around $40 from Asian online retailers is far more likely.

So I got him today and I'm just going to say it.

I'm a little disappointed. Sure he looks good and embodies his G1 incarnation perfectly but ... it just seems lacking. He's marketed as Masterpiece, but to perfectly honest, his Binaltech/Alternators incarnation is a much better figure both engineering and looks wise.

This one just seems like a slightly larger Classics Prowl. :-(

I found something to grumble about, his fingers. I know they are small but being locked like that limits available poses. Minor issue.

boy i wish i could give you a warning for blasphemy. though i do see what you are saying, hes still far superior to any binaltech / alternator, most notably his arms dont fall off as easy.

though i am replacing his and sideswipes plastic tires for some rubber ones.

Woah. I like Bin/Alt Prowl, but only after switching his lower legs around. I feel that the new version is so much better. Do you recall that Bin/Alt Prowl had almost no knee bend due to kibble and his knees are 1/5th of the way up the leg, instead of MP Prowl's 1/3rd? Also, the Bin/Alt had only a passing similarity to G1 (which is fine, as it wasn't supposed to be G1).

thanks for this thread. sort of.

I'm still not going full-on with the MP line, but will be picking up on a character by character and price basis. Prowl was one I had to get, especially after seeing how nice Lambor was. The thread title worried me, as it seemed like the answer was going to be negative. Very pleasantly surprised to see some positivity on the internet and great to hear about other people's good experiences with the toy. Mine should be arriving soon but my plan had be to give it to my parents as something to keep for a Christmas gift for me. I might just be greedy and get stuck into it when he arrives now.

ah but you're working on the assumption that
A)- I care about poseability
and
B) - I care about show accuracy.

Neither mean much to me at all.

Like I said, he's suppose to be Masterpiece, but the execution seems more like a Classic than a Masterpiece in its simplicity

If you do that plan you're guaranteed a good Christmas.

While Schrödinger would say this works who knows what the radiation out there would do.

It makes me feel like it's my first masterpiece again. Check out toyspark on ebay, he's got a few more left, under $70 with shipping. I hope that doesn't violate any Cod of Conduct on here...

My MP-17 finally arrived! Prowl is definitely a Masterpiece. Oh yeah, you better believe it. (Though Optimus Prime is still the Masterpiece of all Masterpieces. :)

This line is almost unbelievable -- highly poseable cartoon-accurate robot-modes with actual car models! Brilliant.

The transformation is so complex and intricate, and the instructions are all in Japanese. I turned to Youtube but the reviewer kind of maybe it more difficult. In the end I managed to do it using a combination of the two and intuition. Heh.

By now though I totally got the hang of Red Alert, I can manipulate him between his modes in five minutes. Prowl seems more difficult.

The box is rather nice with the luster finish and selective polish. So glad I got on the MP board!

Man, they do look good.

Ps. my MP-17 rolls just fine!

Bowspearer wrote:That's just it though- if the cars were the size of the seekers, then the Seekers and Prime would be one and a half to double the size they are now. Even there you're starting to run into the same problem.

That would've been fine with me. I'm not nitpicky regarding scale. I found the height difference between the Planes and Sideswipe off-putting at first, especially when they were approximately the same size on the show. Now I'm fine with it.

As for Prowl, I've had him for a couple of weeks, and I'm very happy it him! He stands in almost any pose, and he's cartoon-accurate.

Same here! That's why I've accepted their smaller size. If it means Takara will produce all of them, I can certainly live with that :BOT: :CON: :BOT: :CON: :BOT: :CON: :BOT: :CON: :BOT:

I have Prowl and Red Alert to my left and their size doesn't feel like a compromise to me. Actually, I think they even look like big toys.

I went into ToysRUs a couple months ago out of curiosity and the Transformers there were tineeeeey (and expensive!) So were the ones from different lines in another shop.

Regarding Autobot cars vs Decepticon jets, I feel Takara balanced them well, I'm pleased with the scale. Very impressed with this series, can't stop admiring the results. :)

Cool! I remember in some episodes they were equally tall, but Mirage is a shrimp compared to Skywarp! I still don't have Red Alert, but I'm on the hunt. His eyes look different from Sideswipe's in the stock photos.

I don't mind an MP Bumblebee. I can't wait for the prototype images to be released.

Prowl is my favorite of the Masterpiece line so far. I'm also impressed that Bluestreak has an entirely new head. I thought they were just doing a different head crest. Nope. Whole new head, which makes me wonder why they made it so the head crest can be unscrewed and removed? I also found it interesting that they made Bluestreak's head look more reminiscent of the Autobot symbol than Prowl's.
