While I like how the robot mode works as Rodimus, I'm not sold on him being an armored, rather than a sports car. Also, I really want to keep that mold as Springer - It's so good, and he's such a unique character that he needs to have his own figure.

Generations Jazz, yeah. The one we've already gotten (or rather, the Takara version of it).

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm looking at the picture of Megatron right now and he has four fingers and a thumb on the open/exposed hand, and you can't really tell on the clenched hand.

This art shows Megs having five fingers (counting the thumb)

While the toy only has four (counting the thumb)

Decided to use my meagre Photoshop skills and further modify the Rodimus image to look more like what I'd hope Hasbro would do if they decide to remould Springer again.
Image
I like Springer as the base for a Rodimus figure, though, obviously, a little more remoulding would be required.

They really went the distance for Sandstorm in terms of remolding; hopefully they'd do the same if they released a Rodimus.

I wonder if they would remold him to such an extent that he would only have a sporty car mode...

E-HOBBY and e-HOBBY-esque exclusives are always straight redecos of existing molds.

I don't see how this statement is related to our tangent. ;)

It was aimed at those who want the Rodimus redeco from Springer to be remolded as well.

Right - but who says Rodimus would be an e-Hobby exclusive? In that background shot, you also have other characters who aren't e-Hobby exclusives.

Removing all the arm and leg wings, sword and so forth basically removes the copter mode. The remoulding I'm thinking of is more for the headlights and windscreen.

Exactly, we are talking about a possible remould by Hasbro, not an exclusive.

And who are all already existing Generations figures, save for the one new redeco in question.

Arctorro wrote:Exactly, we are talking about a possible remould by Hasbro, not an exclusive.
I really don't see Hasbro making this thing. With all their heavy focus on IDW-accurate molds (Whirl being the oddball case, but is still his own mold), it would only make sense for them to make a new Rodimus mold directly based on his comic design, rather than a "barely close enough" redeco that is much more up e-HOBBY's alley. Especially with how prominent he is in the comics; guy like his deserves his own mold. ;)

I mean, with the first reveal of this thing being in a little-known, obscure Japanese prose story for a limited line of online exclusives that we only know about because of how hardcore we on this website are, wouldn't it make more sense for this to be just a Cloud toy instead of something Hasbro'd consider for its mainstream market? :-?

Jesus, that Drift looks goods.

Springer is quickly turning into HasTak's version of MMC's "Scientist" mold - it can be turned into just about anything.

Looks like. If you look closely, especially the windows, it looks like it's hand brushed on. It's a good one, no doubt, but that's one of the telling signs.

Plus, we'd have reported on it if it was legit.

Yep. Cheetimus Primal's expert handiwork - http://www.cheetimus.com/2013/12/voyager-drift.html

BotCon 2014 should be nothing but mulitple straight redecos of the Springer mold done as brilliantly as this. 8)
