$60.00+ when converted from JPY to USD. I'd say retailers such as BBTS will have them for around $80.00 once all shipping costs are passed on to you.

I'd consider looking for a middleman service based in Japan and go from there.

Even after all these years, I can't un-see that "face" that's the chest armor on that Bludgeon mold.

Now with that shiny metallic paint, looks like a metal bra for Slave Leia or Xena.

Not a fan of the smile they gave him, but the helmet looks really good.

The Optimus mold still looks fantastic.

Megatron's bio:
Megatron only believes in one thing: absolute power. Not in falsities like peace. "Only the rule of the strong can bring true order." And only the worthy can claim this power for themselves, he honestly believes. Therefore he continues to seek out more powerful forces; no sacrifice is too great. Before the end, either Cloud World or Megatron himself will surely perish by his ambition ... It's enough to say that his sword techniques are at the level of a master. He is a genuine warrior, and no one can stand as his equal. Furthermore, besides his martial prowess, he also excels at strategy, and has backed the Autobots into a corner time and time again.

Optimus's bio:
Optimus Prime is the Autobots' supreme commander. Rugged, valiant, trustworthy, modest, and selfless, he is the driving force behind combating Megatron's insurgency, saving the entire Metropolis from danger a few years ago. Puts preserving the stability of Cloud World above all and never lets his personal feelings interfere with his duties. But sometimes this sense of responsibility gets the better of him, and he makes a habit of shouldering the burden alone, without worrying about backup.

Fights with never uncovered first class technology, its power enough to be reckoned with even by enemy Decepticons. He prefers to use his Ion Blaster, which boasts tremendous power to complement his own marksmanship skills.

Summary (not an exact translation) of the Story Prologue:
At the beginning of time, the Big Bang didn't just create one universe, it created many, each with its own flow of time. In order to manage the space-time continuum, Cloud World and its administrator, SARA, were created. Through eternity, inorganic life on Cloud World evolved from simple robots into shape-changing super robots, an advanced civilization of "Transformers."

To maintain Cloud World requires immense amounts of energy, so SARA delegated Transformers to harness the excess energy from various universes, and to perform police actions to preserve the flow of space-time.

Travel to other dimensions is made possible through the use of a gateway that is controlled by SARA. Use of the gateway is strictly controlled, and everybody understands the importance of this, so they all lived happily ever after.

Except NOT, because anyone who disagreed was banished to the lawless wastelands outside the Metropolis, and now they're revolting against SARA. No one could have possibly seen this coming. At all.

Megatron looks like he has long hair and he's wearing a metal Fez. But otherwise I think it's a great-looking version of Megatron.

OP looks nice but I've got that mold in the original version and the SDCC NP version; otherwise I'd want it.

I still think they would have done well to upscale the new Legends version[s] into more articulated/detailed voyager[s].

That said, this Megatron isn't looking bad - I think these pics convinced my to pick him up. I can see him being my "Classics" stand-in until a more blocky, less stylized update is released.

But that sword has to go back in its sheath. He'll probably do well with Dr. Wu's red or purple tyrant sword.

More criminally overpriced repaints. Over $100 each (according to BBTS pre-order)

A shame too, I would have snagged that Op at a lower price.

They're not "criminally overpriced"; they're special exclusive repaints that BBTS is importing from Japan, and between exchange rates and import and shipping costs, they end up costing quite a bit for us outside of Japan. But they are not overpriced to begin with. If you want rare exclusive Japan-only repaints, you have to pay more than the actual price for that privilege.

I would nitpick a bit and say they are overpriced to typical American sensibilities. But criminally so? Not a chance.

They were made for Japanese consumers, and the price is not excessive for the Japanese market. It's only when you convert to US currency and add the cost of importing and shipping (plus a bit of profit for the importer) that they become expensive for US consumers. So e-Hobby/TT are not overpricing these figures, and neither is BBTS. If your personal budget doesn't allow for the purchase of exclusive figures imported from Japan, that's not the manufacturer's fault for "criminally overpricing" them. It's a fair price, and it's up to you whether or not you want to pay it.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm perfectly happy with both my Classics Voyagers, I would've done some... things I wouldn't be proud of to get my hands on both these.

Seriously though, some third party needs to make a fusion cannon for that Megatron. That would certainly get me to buy him. :ic$:

I already own both GDO Megatron and Henkei Classic OP.
So, here's my desire level for these repaints:

Megatron: HELL YES!
Man, that thing is a pure silver beauty. If it's not too expensive, I may pick him up.

Optimus Prime: Whaaaaaaan....
Sigh, what a boring repaint. It's so boring and unnecessary, it's not even funny. A very easy pass.

Yup that Megatron would be kinda nice sitting here on my desk, although that head needs replacing with Nerf Gun Megatrons!
As for Optimus, he actually looks like the KO version I own, with some spare legs thrown in from Ultra Magnus and the wind vane from Nemesis Prime!

That's a fantastic idea! The expression is just so much more menacing on the Nerf version.

Yea, I have the KODX version, and see no reason to replace it. This Cloud iteration of the mold is essentially a bag of tricks, isn't it?

Sorry... My post got cut off (I'm blaming the ipad)

Definitely agree with you, I'll probably try and get an older version on eBay. Even though I'm used to paying through the nose for postage...The kind of money they're asking, I'd rather it goes to an MP rather than a voyager. My classics line up thus far has deluxe OP and galvatron leading the troops.

I just had a thought that's one part cynical, one part delusional.

What if Takara is trying to get one last squeeze out of these molds before providing us with new versions of OP/Megatron?

I mean, we saw it with GDO Springer...

I've kinda been thinking the same so perhaps you're not so delusional, or at least one other than yourself (me :P) shares your delusion :).

It's a great, and I mean GREAT mold, but Has/Tak don't generally rest on their laurels when it comes to Primes and Megatrons for too long, and given the fact that so far the only version of Prime we've gotten which is accurate to the comics is a teeny fellow, I'd bet money that they plan on doing a larger version of him (likely much to the chagrin of some of those collectors who've purchased Toyworld's).

As a rule of thumb, special editions or exclusives are always repaints. New molds always debut in a main line where they can make the most bucks.
