God forbid that a corporation is making money with a product! The things that nobody want and make the company lose millions for lack of sales are clearly the most amazing thing ever!
Let's make no one buy Transformers anymore. That way, Hasbro will pull the plug on the franchise and all our toys will magicaly become priceless treasures. We will bask in the brand that is now rended irrelevant.

you're obviously too narrow minded to get the point. so allow me to break it down barney style for you.

hasbro rakes in millions per year. they can afford to not reuse the same molds 6 times over.

so while you're face palming yourself, try to push your head outta your ass.

Seibertron & Goldrabbit have interesting points though.. it would definitely be legit if this set was only released to pique an interest and hasbro has plans to release the Wreckers as they should be released. as a no nonsense, stand alone, must have collectible set. cuz goddamnit, they deserve it. they kick aft in every continuity they're presented in. and Last Stand of the Wreckers is one of the best books ever written. hasbro's sittin on a goldmine with these guys.

I think you guys have to look at all of these releases of the same product in the past year a little differently. Part of the big picture that none of us truly understand is how the profits earned from a product like this might move the ball forward on other products we're interested in. It might be that an upcoming product actually gets green lighted, official approval, past the prototype stage, etc. It might be that it helps generate revenue for a Lamborghini license stateside that Hasbro's upper management might have been telling the Transformers brand team or marketing that they don't need. It might push the bar a little closer to Hasbro getting more shelf space for Transformers.

As a collector of this brand for almost 30 years, I know there is a slew of product that isn't intended for me personally. I don't have to like everything that has the Transformers brand on it. However, I understand the needs to push out a product like this because it just makes the Transformers money pot a little bigger so that we get awesome things like Metroplex, Sandstorm, Rhinox, Masterpiece Soundwave, etc.

If we knew that the profits generated from toys like Bruticus/Ruination meant that the next Masterpiece toy was greenlighted, I bet we'd all look at things like this a little differently.

Some of us fans remember when only 20 to 30 Transformers products came out per year during the 90s. There have been at least 50 new Transformers products that have come out worldwide in the past few months with a whole onslaught of new products coming down the pipes. It's a great time to be a fan. There is a little something for everyone right now.

hmm.. i find your insight to be highly... logical.

i, for one, collected all of the graphic novels instead of the toys, so i've never really thought about the reasoning behind why they push products the way they do. this Wreckers set is the first line that i actually want to own for myself. i'm glad i read that, because it made me think outside the box a lil. now, i'll probably buy two of each, leave one set combined and have the others as singles set up as guards for my graphic novel shelf. i just hope that the sales for this set tells hasbro that the Wreckers are and always have been ready for the big leagues. i know Pyro would be proud.

Just think of it this way ... hopefully profits generated by things like Kre-o, Bot Shots, endless repaints, mold reuses (i.e. filler products), branded licensed products that you see on greeting cards, paper plates, birthday supplies, balloons, t-shirts, shoes, etc help out on the R&D side of things for figures like Metroplex, Masterpiece Soundwave, Rhinox, and other figures that you really want. I think if you strip away all of the "filler" product, you'll find that we get far more products each year that we are really pleased with than we ever used to get back in the day. Funding for a toy like Metroplex came from somewhere. It wasn't just a wild shot in the dark. Something happened sales wise with some other products to justify to upper management that they should take a gamble on the biggest Transformers toy ever made in 26 years. While I'm pretty sure that the profits for one brand are probably pretty tied to that particular brand as for as R&D goes, but I'm sure there has to be some crossover on the books between something like last year's huge Avengers helicarrier and the Star Wars Millennium Falcon with Metroplex. If not profit-wise, at least from a "hey, we can sell these big giant toys for these brands easily let's give it a shot again with Transformers". Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about and I'm just tossin' out worthless theories. Either way, I look at that Metroplex toy next to me right now on my gallery table and I'm just in awe that we got this thing.

Bottom line: Hasbro, please repaint Bruticus a few more times so that I can get a proper Metrotitan out of Metroplex. Thanks.

Remember that Fortmax have at least 2 repaints. So, I can bet that if Metroplex sell well, it WILL be repainted as another character. Some may BAAAAWWWW that it will make their Metroplex less unique... I will not repeat what was already said, but Hasbro Metroplex ALREADY have one repaint: The Takara version. Maybe even a 3rd one if you count the SDCC one... And they arent even out yet!

Y'know, the more I look at Ruination and the Wreckers, the more I like them. My only gripe is that Impactor's deco should be reversed. Would look much cooler if the indigo/purple was the majority of the figure. Also, with Generations: Thrilling 30 Whirl coming down the drain, I'm probably going to repurpose this Whirl as a separate character on my Classics shelf.

Ok funpub I would like this please..

Swindle/Roadbuster- Ironfist - Tick
Vortex/Whirl- Rotorstorm
Brawl/Twintwist- Guzzle
Onslaught/Impactor- Pyro
Blastoff/Topspin- Rack and/or Ruin?

Rotorstorm could unite for real this time.

I could actually see Fun Pub doing something similar with the Wreckers as they did with Nexus Prime; offer the individual members as freebies or TFSS figures as a second Wreckers combiner. It would look much better than the current one, in my opinion.

We've seen some reviews of these figures, but it's now time to feast our eyes on some lengthy Seibertron-style galleries! Ryan has added galleries for wave 1 of the Generations Thrilling 30 line: Megatron, Orion Pax, Trailcutter and Bumblebee - click on each name for the full gallery, or on any of the images below.

Orion Pax and Trailcutter look good. I really need to get back into the Generations line, I've got some catching up to do.

That Megatron is such a disappointment and SMDH @ Bumblebee being the tallest figure out of the wave.

Pax and Trail are bought on site but the other two are a fumbled pass.

Nice galleries as always. These figures are sitting in my pile of loot. I'm hoping someone does a G1 cartoon accurate head for Orion Pax. I'm not digging the Prime with a mouth look that IDW chose to glorify. A head to turn Bumblebee into a new character would also be welcome.

The shoulders on Trailcutter are mistransformed. Rotate the silver bits up so they tab onto the side mirrors.

We are getting a Goldfire (read Goldbug) retool of that mold later on:

This may sound like a silly request, but is there a way to do comparison shots between Gen. Bumblebee and Classics Bumblebee? Same for Gen. Orion Pax and Classics Optimus Prime to show his evolution?

While I like Orion and Megatron, I'm just never crazy about any version of Prime and Megs that's not at the least Voyager. Well, that and a Bumblebee bigger than Megatron?? Bumblebees should always be Legend or cyberverse commander IMHO. That and the yellow of Bee, I'm just not feeling. He'll be the last of the set I get (because the completist in me won't let me not get him).

Glad it's not just me as far as that color goes. I was wondering if it was just how the light hit it or if it was really just that darn "loud" in color. That and the aforementioned height issue will make this one the last in the set for me as well but I will still snag him. All the others are bought on sight. I think Hasbro finally released a wave of 4 figures that I will actually look forward to picking up all of. That hasn't happened in a long time for me.

Bumblebee, unfortunately, just is made of the obnoxious yellow color. Not the right shade. Should've been a little darker.

I'll be skipping Bumblebee as usual. Goldbug is the more interesting of the two. >:oP

Trailcutter, yes.

Orion Pax, yes, but only to give his weapons to Classics Optimus Prime. And to bolster Autobot forces on my Classics shelf.

Megatron, maybe. He's tempting. Very.
