Large, high resolution official prototype pics - http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10273140

With these pics, we can now fully see that that cab, while definitely inspired by the MP-10 cab, is definitely not the MP-10 cab.

The image appears the same on my screen, but looking at the BBTS product page I sourced the image from... it's different.

I have no idea what's going on...

So I'm guessing the BBTS price (or thereabouts from some others) is the best price? Does anyone know or have predictions for a possible USA release to help save on cost?

Thanks! We can also see that they've just upscaled the OP hands. At that size they could have given him moving thumbs - thumbs don't do what his are doing! Also, we can see that his knees won't bend beyond 45°.

And pre-ordered, thanks for pointing it out.

And, not only does it look better, and is official but it's also cheaper than KFC's.
I cannot wait.

So this might be taking a page from IDW then? The cab serves as a transitional mounting figure for the armor and not a white "naked" Convoy? Either way.....this fig is going to make me go on a diet this coming New Year.

I like how the gun stores in between the 'arms' on the carrier.

Well, it looks to me like, since BBTS changed their original source picture, your hotlinked image changed with it since the source code for it is directly connected to BBTS instead of uploaded to a different image host.

I apologize if this is beating a dead horse, but will this be shorter than KFC's figure standing up in robot mode?

I imagine it'll be adult Spike and Daniel with their "futuristic" white suits from the Animated 1986 movie, the 3rd season and Headmasters.

Yeah, I'm sure it will with Daniel being included it's just the third time they have done the character. Also, am I the only one who see's this:

That would be cool, if it's colored like that. I feel like the camera angle is not capturing the nose and details right because the inner head can't look that bad, right?

No big gun for Ultra Magnus? :-(

There are a few things I don't like about the design but only one that really bothers me - the roof of the cab hanging off his waist. This seems like an unnecessary design because based on the hinge line, the roof could have been designed to fold up onto the windshield and out of the way. I really hope he is just mistransformed because there is no reason why Ultra Magnus needs to be sporting suit jacket tails.

Actually he might, all the chrome parts here on the proto seem to be taken from an MP10.

The front wheels of this proto here seem to also be taken from an MP10, look at the pice, it's the exact same as the piece on MP10, it's even still red with the silver trimming. :-?

It's weird, because we know it doesn't have a white MP10 robot, yet it shares the pieces that become its sides.

Can't wait to see colour shots and a few detailed in hand pics that let us guess at it's transformation more.

I find it rather disturbing that I've come to this conclusion, but... the lack of an internal white cab robot figure is a deal breaker to me as a 'Masterpiece' figure in this line.

I think we can now put the whole claim of wanting to finish the 84 an 85 guys up before moving on as no-longer the case. After all, the original excuse for this coming out now was that it's just a repaint of MP10 with armor.

What was the total with shipping?

Also, HLJ patrons: what do you think shipping at HLJ will be on Magnus, based on prior experience?

I havn't wanted a Masterpiece so badly since Soundwave. My only worry is that his legs don't look too secure.

True enough. Now bring on Blurr, Kup, Arcee, and Wheelie!

And a smaller Hot Rod. Seriously. In magenta.

can't wait for this guy's release.. one small thing that bothers me a bit is that the gun is too faithful to the toy's gun (not sure how it was portrayed in the cartoon). The post at the top of the gun was there so that it fit in the optimus prime cab's fists. Aesthetically it always bothered me, even when I had got my UM as a kid. I reckon they could've done without it or made it more streamlined like a normal gun handle.
