So does this mean that when I purchase a car, I am supporting the movie industry? :-?

I know how you feel. I long for a '71 boattail Riviera TF.

Attention various automobile companies: thank you for being douchebags. In return for not allowing your models of cars to be used for Alternators/BinalTechs as part of the Transformers franchise (particulary Bumblebee, Jazz, and Sideswipe), you have lost out on a major opportunity to show off your sporty automobiles in this summer's biggest blockbuster. Just think of how much you are going to lose out on potential customers who would've been interested in a lamborgini, a volkswagon, or a porshe...only to settle on a camaro, or a mustang. Whoopsie-doo, I guess.

I hope you enjoy having to amputate your leg after shooting yourself in the foot with the decision you made to not license out your automobile rights. All that revenue you lose out on. Shame, huh?

xoxoxo,

I'm not sure if Michael Bay would have wanted those cars anyway. It was mentioned in a couple interviews that Bay has a long standing relationship with GM. Also it was mentioned that it was more efficient to make one contract with one car company than to get individual rights to various car companies. However, I would agree that there may have been a large financial influence as well.

In theory, it does seem silly that all the cars are GM. However, from a viewers standpoint the vehicles all look different and it probably won't phase most people when they see the movie.
