While I see what you're saying, I just wanted to pick up on this one sentence. Audiences never saw an entire film; there's always been footage (nearly 80%, apparently) left on the cutting room floor! Audiences have consistently missed out on extra footage; the extra features on DVD's are just that: extra. They're bonuses.

There is also a reason that footage gets cut, most of it is rubbish. It either doesnt work visually, doesnt really fit the continuity of the story or slows down the pace of the movie too much. It only when directors are given strict guidelines on how long their movie can be that the good stuff gets cut. However it is nice to get that material as part of a DVD just so you can make you own mind about whether it should have been in the movie or not.

Actually, in my Lord of the Rings DVD's, which have over half hour each of extra footage, the extra footage should have been left in the orginal cut, since it either explained stuff, or made the film better to watch. :D

Indeed but thats your opinion, a lot of people complained that at 3 hours plus the LOTR movies were way too long. Imaging how long each would have been if they include all that footage! Most average movie goers would have been turned off by having to sit there for 3-4 hours.

I would've been put off, I think.

One thing I like about the movie is that there are no "clones" or "repaint" characters. As much as I would've liked to have seen Thundercracker and Skywarp, I can't imagine watching three of the same robot on screen. For my liking they would've had to give each different alt.modes, but not including them at all works just as well.

Heavens, that was a garbled paragraph.

um... positive......hmm.... maybe this crapfest film will cause a backlash against the movie style and get Classics restarted as dozens of TF fans see their childhoods figuratively get rear-ended with a broom handle on screen on July 4th... No, not bitter at all.

Actualy I'd like to see this movie and the toy line die on it's ass, and the Transformers brand to take a massive nose dive forcing Hasbro(and Takara) to get off their asses and do something inovative and intelligent with the line to save it. Rather than relying on G1 nostalgia as a back up plan as they have for the last 5+ years. to paraphrase good friend of mine, Through desperation and adversity comes ingenuity, though complatency things become stagnated and apathetic. Case in point: crummy sales led to the renaissance of Transformers via Beast Wars.

SHUT UP! G1 is what inspired this F*****g movie, so shut your mouth and keep it closed to comments like that. You didn't even have a reason to post in this topic. And no, Bay is a dumbass for pissing all over 23 years of history to make a generic monster movie to make a quick, F*****g, buck. As long as you bash G1, I bash your head in with comments like these.

i love tfs and always will, but **** like these two comments is almost enough to make me ashamed to admit it, for fear of being associated with such garbage. is it really too much to ask for people to lay off the incessant baiting and insults and just state their opinions civilly?

well, yeah, probably, but it feels good to ask.

i never said you were wrong to have such an opinion.* but there are ways to express that opinion other than "OMG G1 IS TEH GAY." that's just begging for a flame war.

*on a side note, i do suggest you check out some of the other aspects of g1 rather than rushing to label the entire period junk based solely on one episode of the show. many fans, myself included, consider the marvel comics, especially the later issues and the uk exclusives, to be vastly superior to the cartoon. and some of the g1 toys are pretty cool, if a bit primitive by today's standards.

I dissagree with to toys had barely any poseableity and i just wrote that to see how many people i could piss of my friends told me to and know they cant stop luaghing. Sill i have some good knowledge of g1 and i dont like it. im more of a demonic robot anime loving person. Still there are some things good about g1 i think you need to listen to your post and every one else should you need to wait to see it before making a decison you cant base it on somthing you havent saw move breath talk transform and fight so you shouldnt judge but g1 is already out and i have watched 20 episodes and the movie the only thing i like is the kick ass soundwave.

:APPLAUSE: to Faceful of Kitchen. I'll go on the iMDB boards when I feel in the mood for that kind of talk. A little word to the wise for Bluebullet and HitsugiKun; I don't know how things are run on other forums you may post at, but the staff here has very little tolerance for that kind of posting. If any of the mods catch this, they'll probably just let you go with a warning PM or somthing, seeing as you're both relatively new, but just for future reference......

wow, just what a fandom that's already full of flaming and people who are at each other's throats needs: someone intentionally trying to piss them off because "my friends told me to." if i wanted to, i could be a nasty little snitch and send a link to that post to a mod, as you pretty much just admitted to being a troll. lucky for you i'm not that big an asshole, though i can't guarantee the same about others who may read this thread, nor can i guarantee that a mod won't read it anyway.

and i base my current opinion of the movie (which, as i've said, still has time to change, and i'm still clinging to the ever-fading hope that it will) on what's been revealed. i've never claimed to know 100% for certain that the movie sucks. i'll wait until i can see it for free before i speak for certain on its quality, but until then i can certainly say that it looks like it'll be terrible, and thus i don't currently plan on paying to see it. saying i need to pay for it before i can decide whether or not it's worth paying for makes no sense; if all indications (and there are many, most notably the cliche script) say it won't be worth it, why would i shell out my money anyway?

Sorry, but Hitsuki's post shoved me off the deep end. I respect all Transformers lines except for the movie, and Hitsuki is the exact opposite. It's destiny to clash.

i dont think this has been mentioned by anyone so i thought i would throw gas on the fire by bringing this to the atention of people who keep throwing out the old- 'you havent seen the movie... you dont know it will suck!' argument....

the january issue of Toy Fare has an interview with screenwriters alex kurtzman and robert orci...

Orci says they wanted to put soundwave in but it would have hurt the story...

Kurtzman said they wanted him in the movie because everyone remembers the 'boom-box'... Orci reminds him that he was a tape player.

they say repeatedly that things were left out to help the story...
they say that at least once in every answer they give.

they say that the humans are whats most important... because we can't relate to transformers otherwise...
the transformers will come into the film after a lot of build up and anitcipation.

they go on to reveal that they wrote the script three(count em,THREE) times before they came to the final desicion to have the transformers talk in the movie.

no transformer had a word of dialouge in the first two drafts of this thing.

Orci goes on to say he hopes they wont regret making them talk.

im a huge fan, but i just dont see this being what we want.

if i have some extra cash and time on my hands i might go see it, but im pretty sure im not gonna like it.

feel free to say that i suck, i dont give a damn.
