Whoa there, for a TF film that's gettin' dangerously close to continuity! XD

But seriously, I like the ideas; always wanted to see another big Autobot (that actually remains good) and the undetectable Energon is a must! Well, it was inevitable. It was merely a matter of time before it was officially announced.

Now, we have that announcement.

That, coupled with the anniversary, makes me wonder if Hasbro really DOES have something BIG planned.

With Transformers: Dark of the Moon earning a massive $1.124 billion at the worldwide box office and sitting at No. 4 on the all-time list, a fourth film was to be expected. We've now learned that Paramount Pictures is eyeing a 2014 release date for the next film, though it has not been confirmed whether Michael Bay will be back in the director's chair.

There's still plenty of dates open in June and July of 2014 if the studio wants to go with a similar release date as the first three movies. The first was released in July of 2007, followed by the second in June of 2009 and the third in June of 2011.

We have also learned that Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg will start shooting Michael Bay's Pain and Gain in Miami in April. That film is based on the true story of a group of bodybuilders who get caught up in a criminal enterprise in Florida.

Earlier today, at a Hasbro event for Paramount's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype had a chance to talk with producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura about the prospects of doing another "Transformers" movie.

"We’ll be there in the summer of 2014," he confirmed, as well as addressing (albeit vaguely) whether Michael Bay will be returning as director or not. "Michael had a debate because he sort of felt at first that he'd done three. Michael and I are both the same in that we always like to top ourselves. That doesn't necessarily mean bigger. It can be bigger in places, it just means different, but we're going to push really hard as fresh and new as we can be."

He compares doing a fourth "Transformers" movie to what they're doing with the "G.I. Joe" sequel by having a few characters return as well as telling a story that does follow-up from a plot set-up in its predecessor without necessarily fully "rebooting." "Again, we're going to try to do a hybrid there where there will be some characters that come forward--we think, we're still in the process of figuring it out--and some characters that don't, but it will definitely be a different story."

In the next month, Di Bonaventura will be finishing up G.I. Joe and preparing for Steven Soderbergh to start filming The Bitter Pill/The Side Effects in New York City--it was actually Di Bonaventura’s first project as a producer post-Warner Bros.--but we did ask about some of the other sequels he has in development.

RED 2, the sequel to Di Bonaventura's hit action movie, is going to shoot in the fall and while he wouldn't tell us who is directing, he did confirm it would be a different director from the first movie.

They're still working on the script for a planned sequel to his other hit action movie Salt, although they'll also have to wait until Angelina Jolie is ready to do that movie. "I would not want to see 'Salt' without Angelina personally," he told us. "I haven't seen the 'Bourne' trailer but everyone tells me they've figured out how to make that transition really well."

Look for more with Di Bonaventura and some of the cast of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, including Dwayne Johnson, over on SuperHeroHype sometime later this week

I hate to admit it, especially because I am TOTALLY opposed to the idea of Unicron even being mentioned anywhere close to the movie franchise, but this is the only plot-line that makes any sense given after how DotM ended. The thought of having Ultra Magnus join the crew is something that makes it tolerable but if I have to put up with Unicron to get UM, forget it. I won't go see it.

As I've said before, they should have stopped with 3 and left it the hell alone. Whatever they attempt from this point forward is just going to be one massive sh**-fest! I respect that Bay is doing his own thing with the franchise but still trying to borrow enough elements from the TF origins to keep the fans somewhat happy but there isn't a single thing that he or anyone else could do from this point forward that wouldn't just horribly mangle all that has come before. (Unless they go with Hypershocks idea, in which case I'll likely be the only dissatisfied fan out there)

Hope it's like an elite team or something, like Optimus, mirage, sideswipe, ratchet and maybe introduce ultra Magnus and prowl and epps. Sounds interesting and shialess so I'm in.

Bay Confirmed Transformers 4 - Preliminary Release June 29th, 2014!

Speculation over! After today's announcement, Michael Bay has confirmed the rumors by posting a news article on his own site. He will be returning for Transformers 4 after signing a deal with Paramount Pictures for 2 movies. Not 2 Transformers films however. He will finish his work on Pain and Gain starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson first, and then begin his work on the next installment of the Transformers Movie.

Click here to view Michael Bay's website and read the full article.

Let the debate begin in the forums!

So, from what I read....

Same producers.
Same director.
Shia does NOT want to come back (though, he may change his mind after hearing this news).
It'll be 50/50 sequel and reboot. (Some characters will stay, others will be new and the whole thing "refreshed")
Same year as the anniversary.

Well, now we know what Hasbro was talking about when they said they had big plans for 2014.

I'm not sure what they're planning. I'm mystified by all of this...

Well... I'm not happy about this, but every cloud has a silver lining. For instance, the world may end in 2012 and I'll never have to actually deal with the horrid reality that Bay is still making movies.

Thank you for making me feel I'm not alone! Yeah I think 3 chapters is enough to have to hear Shia LaDouche scream like a p*ssy so please kill his character's ass off. Hopefully 2014 should give enough time for a decent story and better portrayal of characters not having them act like a bunch of gundam clowns...'nuff said! :VEHI:

Y'know what? F**k it. You guys can take it. Obviously there's no reasoning with anyone who had already been a Michael Bay fan, but maybe a quadrillogy of the same junk food films will finally leave a bad enough taste in people's mouths for them to see the series as little more than a bad memory. Probably not, you people worship Hasbro like toy gods so it's unlikely.

The majority of the profits come from ticket sales, toys from the movies shelf warm for months or years on end, Transformers Prime is mediocre as all hell and is not a worthy replacement for Animated, the aesthetics of the movies have infected the comics and toylines, Bumblebee may never talk again. Yeah, outside of the quantity of figure molds we've been getting, nothing about the movies pleases me. The distribution for most of the new molds has been crap because of all the damn movie toys anyway.

The worst part is that I simply think it's too soon. And in fairness Bay has already done a full trilogy, this should really have been put to bed. If I couldn't call it "milking it" already, now I can.

Eh, I never hated these movies, but I was really hoping we'd get a new director to shine a different light on this brand. I'll be optimistic, though.

I shall follow the same game plan for this as I have for all the other Bay TF movies
1) Don't get hyped up, or pissed off at whatever I hear - keep expectations neutral
2) See the movie in theaters
3) Only but the fraction of figures that will go ok on my Classicverse shelves.

That sums up what I think, except I didn't care much for the Animated series either.

I don't HATE the movies completely (except the second one), but a competent director and some competent writers can take almost any concept and make it into a multi-layered, enjoyable and brilliant movie that can really give characterization instead of the B.S. stereotypes and horrible dialogue everyone has resigned to. The more you accept this kind of garbage, the more you will get this kind of garbage.

How could you even say that? You would have me think that a show with great plot lines and story arcs, well-designed characters with interesting backstories, and both Peter Cullen AND Frank Welker, is worse than a crap fest with poorly drawn characters, Optimus and Starscream with chin tumors, and some goofy subplot with an annoying human who turns out to be a twice as annoying android?

I'm guessing Unicron will be a major baddie. Or it could be a prequel movie (because there's sooooo many nowadays)

Possibly WFC/FOC Movie-ized?

My only hope, only hope....is that shia labouf is done and they get a decent, charismatic actor to focus the story on. Cause if half the movie is going to be a human, at least get one that can read their lines.
