Also, it probably mass shifts, why is this a foreign concept to TRANSFORMERS fans?

That's an awfully big sword for that small of a hilt.

Again, mass shifting. It's probably very light.

Even if it weighed nothing it would be unwieldy to use one handed.

Not if it were both light and well-balanced (which it can be assumed that it is, if Mark Wahlberg's character ends up using it as a weapon). Basically, if most of the weight is in the hilt, it would be entirely usable with ease.

Unless of course it's NOT well balanced and he just uses it as a club during the movie. We'll see when we see.

What makes a sword usable is less about the overall weight of the weapon, and more about how it's balanced. What's the weight ratio between the hilt and the blade?

I'm thinking about the breadth of the "thingy". Without using both hand it would be easier to injury yourself with it.

Forget the sword, why does that guy in the first picture have a skunk on a stick? I know they're called pole cats but that's taking it a bit too far.

I think I know what it is. With Cybertron destroyed in DotM, I bet this is the key (shaped bizarrely like a sword) that unlock all Cybertronians' ability to hump! That's what this latest movie is about! All the sexual references in the previous movies makes sense now! Wheelie humping Mikaela's leg; Wheelie and Brains' obsession with Sam's porn, the Pretender girl - it all come to a head.

The Dinobots will symbolize the extinction of the Cybertronian race, and only Mark Wahlberg can unlock Prime's chastity belt in time to pitch woo at the last female Transformer - Bumblebee. Dreams are crushed, hopes are dashed, and I can't wait to skip the movie in theaters.

What? I pulled references from previous Transformers movies. My idea is just as valid as a planet key or the Star Saber.

Don't forget Kicker  (a human ,an annoying human ) wields the "Energon Saber " in the series of Energon . This is how I believe it is going to be used .
Three small Mini-Con Bots :MINI: ,that have been living with Flynn Vincent (Mark Wahlberg ) suddenly forms a sword in the face of apocalyptic destruction by the hands of Unicron . Flynn then takes the sword ,which gives him the ability to fly into space ,where he impales Unicron though his core ,while singing "You Got The Touch " . Bay Rocks :michaelbay:
Also did anyone notice that a block of concrete seems to have an odd design on it .

Can't it just be an ordinary human-sized weapon made by the Autobots for their human allies to use? I mean, no one raised an eyebrow at all the Cybertronian-made human weaponry in DOTM (i.e. Sam's arm-mounted grappling hook), so why should thing be any different?

Remember in the mythology of Transformers is many WEAPONS, so it comes to no SUPRISE that some of these will be in the movie-verse.

Rather or not this is the Star Saber or Energon Sword or Dark Saber REMAINS TO BE SEEN.

Also look at DOTM, they made them the Grappling Hooks for Climing and the Remote Bombs that blew up Starscream.

Also, when you think about, it is Pefect sense to give Humans an edge or to be on PAR with fighting 50 to 100 Foot Tall Transformers which you couldnt do with CURRENT HUMAN TECH.

So Yeah I see more Cybertronian Human WEAPONS, such as in DOTM, so THIS ISNT A NEW DEAL IT WAS AN EXPECTED ONE.

I see more such as Requeim Blaster, Moon Shield others so EXPECT MORE.
