Great numbers there! The sequels are a lock.

I just hope the sequels are as much fun as this one, with one major change.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Well, beyond "This is so and so."

I agree with Autobot032, while the whole movie experience was stellar, the sequel could do with a bit more character development and overall more depth now that the introductory story is out of the way.

I wish the movie all the best though! It deserves to be a major success.

& the funny part about those numbers is that Transformers cost about half as much to make as those movies that had bigger openings than it did.

So true... And I think that Transformers will easily overtake Spidey 1 and Pirates 1 in biggest weekend. Which will result (IMO) in even bigger records for the sequels.

Of course the sequels will get more expensive as well...

The lack of screen time for the decepticons was a critical flaw IMO. I find it forgivable thanks to the tie-in stuff that have this covered somewhat but I consider it to be something that must be an essential in a potential sequel.

Why bother having a great character like Starscream if he's only going to get like one line and shoot some guys down? Better off just to make him Skywarp

for the sequel to be good, get the robots more in it. yes, you can still have sam and mikaela as they are the main humans, but stick to the robots for the main part. that's what we are all there to see.

as for that money thing. well, that seems pretty damn good for just its second day.

This movie really deserves to make a sh*t load of cash...

it would be a dream come true to have it beat Titanic... I know it won't (mainly because the over 50 crowd won't go see Transformers), but I can dream...

Awesome movie but by the end the camera was shaking so much I couldn't make out the robots at all.

I find it so hard to beleive they couldn't have Starscream mocking the humans as he was shooting them out of the sky, or talking trash to Ironhide and Ratchet. Just one," IF Megatron Falls I shall lead," line would have made my smile that much bigger. Plus I really think the Bonecrusher fight should have been longer and Blackout shouldn't have been punked out like that. And one last bitching, Prime and Megs, as F'n unbeleivable as their fight was, it got much less screen time then it should have, but that might also be just a fanboy wanting to see an entire fifteen minute segment of them throwing down. All in all though, the critics can suck it because it was the best movie of the summer!

I agree completely. How to get the kiddies hooked on a wickedly awsome character like Starscream if they can't get a full idea of who Starscream is? There just wasn't enough time for the major 'cons, having them plunked into the action at the end like that. :(

That said--nice to hear the film is getting great in-theater support! Much as I hate paying eight bucks to see movies, I admit this was absolutely worth it.

Damn thats a good amiunt. I knew it would make alot. The thing is.... I got in for free and i get to see it again for free. I love movie passes. I may have to see it a 3rd time just so they can get some money from me. Because we all know a good amount of whats made will go towards TF2. And the're gonna need a shitload of cashy money for that.

And that number is just gonna keep rising!

However, with a Monday opening, would all this be counted as opening weekend gross? I know they can get away by opening a day or two early, but this is nearly a full weak.

I'd like to see how it turns out, plus I know I have alot of groups of friends that each want to see it again with me as a walk through, and believe me when I tell you before this film they couldn't care less about TFs, but this film has alot of people from all walks excited, and thats a great thing!
