Like a lot of fanatics, not a huge fan of the gold face. But I am very curious on what his personality will be. Will he just be a silent badass? Will he speak mandarin like the rumors say? And will his sword play in the action scenes make up totally for his gold face? So many questions!

It's only confirmed that a certain TF will speak only Mandarin, but not necessarily Drift. Could be any new TF affiliated with China and the company that creates artificial TF's, like the Dinobots or Stinger, or even Galvatron. Besides, I doubt Ken Watanabe speaks Mandarin.

Speaking of Drift, I wonder why they had to stick a Japanese-themed TF into AOE, which is set so heavily in China. As far as I know, AoE didn't film any scenes in Japan. Seems a little random to me.

If they wanted to go for that knights and warriors theme, they could have modeled a TF after Qin Dynasty terracotta warriors.

Just saying.

Don't expect historical and cultular accuracy in action movie about giant transforming robots with at least 50 plot holes. Most people propably don't now, most people for sure don't care. Plus just because movie is set in China, dosen't mean that Drift must be assosiated with China itself.

You insulting this group, and the second one was arguable. Nicola Peltz is a great improvement in this term though.

I know. I'm not expecting all the AoE TF's to be packing nunchucks and acting like Bruce Lee or something. But since they're going for a an ancient warrior bot look, it makes more sense to use Chinese themes than Japanese since it's set in China. Just like how The Fallen's head was patterned after the headdress of the pharaohs since a key part of ROTF's story takes place in Egypt.

And yes, I know Drift in the comics was inspired by Japanese drift racing. But in the movieverse, many TF's look nothing like their original designs anyway.

I am sorry, I did not mean to insult. I am here too afterall. I was just talking about who these films were targeted for. For these movies to make this much money, they are designed as 4 quadrant films. Meaning that they are intended to satisfy as many film goers as possible with lowest common denominator humor to accomodate younger ages and starring white people because research shows that more people are likely to see a film starring white people. http://www.cracked.com/article_19549_5-old-timey-prejudices-that-still-show-up-in-every-movie_p2.html
That brands the films as less serious intentionally and the main character being male with the presence of a victoria's secret model (soemtimes literally) defiantely makes them male oriented. All of that went into my comment. Thats not to say they arent for us either. We want to see the toys and charactrers we grew up with make it to the big screen and that's fun. BUT they are not made just for us ... and it shows.

Relax, I see that you are taking my sarcasm too seriously. It is true that the main target of Bayformers are teenagers with no knowledge about Transformers franchise at all. I just don't like how Bay shows it.

Maybe you should consider this a as a less "Chinese theme" than a "Asian theme". Most of people born in America don't understand the difference. For them, China, Japan and Korea are pretty much the same. Unless you are interested in this, you can't see the difference. Like I said: propably they don't know, for sure they don't care.

I can't wait to see some Dino-action! Although the movie isn't released here in the UK until the 10th July, which sucks a bit.

Hound I guess since he was an old G1 favourite, but I really don't like his movie design at all. I think Crosshairs looks ridiculous as well.

I can tell you that I'm probably the only person here who couldn't care less about the friggin' Dinobots, lol.

Fact is, this isn't about whether "they" care or not. Hell, I don't think even Asians who weren't born in China or Japan would care.

But here's the thing....

It's about common business courtesy on the part of those in charge of the movie. AoE was set in China because there's a massive emerging market for TF's there, one that's only going to get bigger. If you're about to meet an important client from Samoa, you wouldn't greet him in Hawaiian. That would be rude and borderline offensive.

With that said, I'll keep my mind open until the movie hits the theaters. Maybe there's a good explanation for it.

I am the most excited about hound. He has been my favorite character for a while and I was not expecting him to be in AOE. Surprise for me!. For the 'cons, I am most excited for Lockdown because he is menacing. I wish he either was didn't speak, spoke cybertronian, or had a really deep voice. But Mark Ryan still pleased me very much! Based off of the trailers Lockdown seems to be my favorite decepticon because Galvi has only had two scenes in all of the still trailers etc. and the human made ones get there head handed to them by the Autobots, Awesome that the autobots have that many to slaughter, but half of them are nameless so no build up to their death.Optimus and Bee look great too. And finally, like a majority of us..... THE DINOBOTS! :ic$:  :D :michaelbay:
