Nothing new to report at the Lexington Wal-Mart yet, but Thomasville Wal-Mart actually had a few figures from 2011 Generations Series 1. I spotted a Red Alert, a Skullgrin, and a Dirge (of which I bought because this one had the triangle in the head piece on the Decepticon insignia whereas the first Generations Dirge I purchased did not have the triangle).
I did note that Wal-Mart is carrying a generic $10.00 transforming robot that is approximately Leader Class size or maybe a hair smaller. So far it looks like all the figures are land vehicles, mostly cars, with one being a bulldozer or something along those lines. I didn't buy one, so I'm not sure of the quality, but at $10.00 they quality can't be good. On the other hand, it's only $10.00.
Now it's February 2011 and still no new Transformers at my local Wal-Mart. I plan on hitting the Wal-Mart in Thomasville next week to see what they have on their pegs. But otherwise, I've pretty much given up hope on the Lexington location as I don't think they ever hired a new toy department manager after the last one they had quit years ago. Now I hear that instead of a department manager for each department, a department manager covers about two or three departments.
Anyway, like I said, I'd given up on this location and decided to just order the most recent Transformers releases from
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com. I may have to pay more, if only because of shipping costs, but at least I get the item. If I wait for this store to get new Transformers in, the line would be discontinued before I got all the figures.
Still no new Deluxe figures at the Wal-Marts in Lexington or in Thomasville. In fact, both stores have a section of pegs meant for Generations that are completely empty. And from what I've read from those of you that managed to hit other stores in the area, it's the same story. NOTHING! No new anything from any of the Classes.
I just came back from the Lexington Wal-Mart and once again, the pegs are still empty for the Deluxe Generations. This is absolutely ridiculous! It's been nearly two months since the new modular was set and this store can't get in any Deluxe Generations. The pegs for the RTS Deluxe figures are full of Wave 2 figures (Sidearm Sideswipe, Hailstorm, Elita-1, and Tuner Skids), all of which were left over from their "Toyland" Display from Christmas.
Now do you see why I order my figures from
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com and that I'm willing to pay the shipping charges.
Once again I was at the Lexington Wal-Mart and once again the same pegs intended for Generations were still empty.
However, on a Star Wars side note, the AT-AT that normally sells for $99.97 at Wal-Mart is now on Clearance for $49.00. I bought one at the clearance price and I had bought one last year when they were on sale for $80.00. If I can't build up my Sweeps, I'll at least be able to build up my AT-AT army to conquer the Rebel Base on Hoth.
Well, the Lexington Wal-Mart has just changed their action figure toy modular aisles once again and it's only March. The Star Wars and Transformers are now an aisle section down from where they were. I noticed that the "THOR" toys were making an appearance closer to the main aisle while I'm sure "Captain America" should be next.
Anyway, that section of Generations pegs is still empty. But get this... (I PM'ed a local Seibertronian recently about this very thing) they've been hoarding the Generations figures for a promotional/display and the toy department associate was setting that up a few moments before I was leaving. I think I spotted at least one, possibly two of everything in the 2011 line except Sergeant Kup, Scourge, Wheeljack, Thundercracker, or Warpath. I mentioned it to the associate that these would probably fill up the pegs on the counter down the aisle and she said that they have to feature them on the endcap because of the promotion. WTF! This is one of the reasons I got out of retail because the ones up top lack commonsense. Those Generations pegs have been empty for nearly three months and finally some Generations come in and they are going to keep them displayed on an endcap instead of filling up the pegs down the aisle with the rest of the Transformers?!?! Why bother featuring them on an endcap? If the right collector comes in, they'll buy about half of the characters leaving those ridiculous cardboard box toy holders virtually empty except for a few figures that were pushed forward. Tacky!
Just came back from the Thomasville Wal-Mart and I spotted only three Generations figures, Cybertronian Megatron, Thunderwing, and Darkmount.
I did find two Star Wars Transformers Crossovers Lieutenant Thire to Republic Attack Cruiser figures, but I only needed one. I would've posted it on the Sightings List page, but this figure still hasn't been listed despite many apparently failed attempts of letting someone know.
Just left the Lexington Wal-Mart. The DOTM feature is still up on one of the endcaps with half the display featuring the DOTM Cyberverse Optimus Prime with 3-D glasses. The other half is Generations figures excluding some that I mentioned above in a previous post. Again, the Generations figures are featured here on the endcap as opposed to being displayed on the EMPTY PEGS for the Generations figures in the Transformers section. Madness, I tell you, madness!
It's nearly the end of May and RTS figures have been moved to a Clearance Aisle in another section of the Lexington Wal-Mart SuperCenter store. Pretty much all that this store ever got in as far as the RTS line was the figures that were being released almost near the end of 2010. Not once did I ever see Deluxe Class Special Ops Jazz, Turbo Tracks, Fallback, Mindset, Perceptor, Classics Redeco Bumblebee, G2 Optimus Prime, or Wreck-Gar. Not even Deluxe Class Tomahawk, Terradive, or Electrostatic Jolt made it to this store and I honestly have my doubts these figures made it to the Thomasville Wal-Mart SuperCenter either. So it's easy to see that if these Deluxe Class figures didn't make it to these stores, one can easily assume that the Scout Class RTS figures Breacher, Insecticon, Oil Pan, Firetrap, and Sunspot didn't make it to these stores as well. And if those Scout Class figures didn't get to these stores, you can forget about me ever seeing Scout Class Chopsaw or Windcharger. Add to that list of "No Shows" the Voyager Class figures of Grapple, Lugnut, Strafe, Deep Dive, and Highbrow and one can say that the availability of RTS 2010/2011 figures was extremely lacking, at least for these two Wal-Mart SuperCenters. So of course it's extremely disappointing to not see these figures amongst the Clearance aisles considering they never appeared in these stores in the first place.
All I can say to this is thank goodness for
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com, otherwise I wouldn't be the proud owner of each one of nearly all of the figures listed above. Unfortunately, I didn't time my online shopping very well for Chopsaw and Windcharger as I was never able to acquire those two from the website.
Now for some good news at least about the Wal-Mart SuperCenter here in Lexington... they've been getting in the Generation lines and I've been extremely surprised at what I've been finding. So far I've seen Sergeant Kup, Scourge, Wheeljack, Thundercracker, and even the elusive Warpath. Heck, I even posted these on the sightings page a few days ago and I was again back in the store on Friday and I was still able to find at least two of each one of these figures I just mentioned. The only problem I have is that this store has only reserved one column of pegs for the Generations figures, as opposed to the standard two columns which allows for 6 pegs of figures as opposed to 3 pegs of figures.
Also in the good news column for this Lexington Wal-Mart SuperCenter... DOTM figures out the ying-yang.
