My condolences to Ryan. I couldnt imagine losing such a huge part of my collection. I think the best all around collection is opened figures. No matter what reigon of the US you live in, some form of the elements is going to degrade those boxes.

I loved hearing about your kids being able to enjoy Transformers. Please don't apologize about sharing those stories. I think the fandom likes to forget who these figures are really for, and young children getting to enjoy Transformers so that one day they can join into our ranks is awesome, and hearing about even the mentally disabled being able to enjoy Transformers without help is awesome. I really liked hearing about it, because it isn't something I think of all the time.

Missed the podcast guys, loved having it back!

We were only a week late yo! ;) It is good to hear that this is something people look forward to.

I know I speak for the rest of us when I say that some of the enthusiasm is encouraging.

Anyway, I'm VERY SORRY about your collection.
But seriously, dude, exactly how long ago was this? Iv'e been in chicago for the past few weeks or a month or two, and what time was it? I might've been here. It gives me chills that this kind of thing can happen, you know? It just feels wrong...
If it was my choice, I would have had my house flooded instead of yours, hell Id'e do it.
well, good luck in the future, and keep things on high ground, for what confort this provides you....
BTW...How long does it take to put the stickers on the U.S.S Flagg?

I look forward to this every second week.

It also felt so much longer because of the other 2 podcasts I listen to, last week one took a week off and the other was a half episode.

I look forward to everything you compile about insuring your collections. It is something I never thought of, and I've got 406 transformers and counting now, and I live in hurricane country.

I live in tornado alley, so I would logically want to put stuff in the basement, but my basement is old cracked and floods all the time. I suppose I could just have them put in a storage unit, but those can be flooded easily as well, oh and it wouldn't matter if a tornado hit the storage unit. Luckily (if you can call it that) I don't keep any boxes because I don't have the space anyway. And I don't have anything particularly old to protect either, since I was born in the nineties and don't have any toys older than my brother's G2 re-release Prime, which I mostly destroyed anyway. Put simply, I'll just have to "deal with it". 8)

And sorry about what happened man. It's pretty tragic to see that many original MIB bots get washed away. :-(

Great podcast; I feel for Ryan and his collection, I know how proud he was of a lot of those MISP items, what great accomplishments it was to acquire them. Then, after he went through so much to try and prevent future damage by using the plastic tubs... Sometimes, the best laid plans of mice and men...

But I'm glad he's in pretty good spirits about the whole thing. I was unaware of the all the insurance "quid pro quo", I thought you just had to itemize and list everything and you were done. I'm gonna apply some of the knowledge garnered in this podcast when I got to get all of my drum gear insured. Even though these musical instruments aren't exactly 'Toys' or 'Collectibles', they are similarly expensive and I can imagine that I'd run into a lot of the same problems.

Also of note is the Rescue Bots. I wondered why there was such a big deal being made about them, but now I see. Really cool program, this one. Ryan, here's hoping that the re-acquisition of the items you lost goes well...

You given me a bit to think about. I have a semi-warped floor (which thankfully has not extended to my room) and that floor is where I keep my Encore Metroplex (in box), D-62S (lavender) Galvatron (in box), and a 2nd 25th Anniv. Python Conquest (MISB), not to mention the iGear Autobot HQ set (dbl.-boxed, MiB).

I'm sure I'm not the first to make this offer, but are there any items in your flood damaged collection that you'd consider selling? I've found that so long as paperwork is dry (and unfolded), a good dictionary (as a seat cushion!) goes a long way in the restoration process. At least I know that works with Magic cards and label sheets.
Please PM me with your asking price for the damaged Fort Max label sheet.
If some of your damaged boxes and backer cards have legible tech specs, let me know what you might want to part with.

Sorry for your losses,
-- Cybertronian.
