Why are they giving these new MP models whole-number codes - 17, 18, 19... isn't it likely some will just be repaints of eachother? Or are they really to be entirely unique molds?

Is it Bluestreak or Silverstreak? Either way it's a Fairlady Z, at least I hope it still is.

Glad you asked! In Japan, it shouldn't matter he's just called Streak.

When Hasbro released him in 1984, he was called Bluestreak, even though he was silver. That's because of a Diaclone deco that had him in blue with a silver hood, that deco went unused for Transformers.
Fast forward to the reissues, he was renamed Silverstreak due to Hasbro's inability to claim the Bluestreak name. Nowadays Hasbro has both names, but Bluestreak is seeing more use now, look at Kre-O and GDO Legends Bluestreak

Only straight redecos get a letter, retools get a whole new number. To illustrate the possible changes from MP-17 Prowl:

MP-18 Smokescrean: new head, lightbar removed, new vehicle front end, spoiler
MP-19 Streak: lightbar removed, minor cosmetic changes.

well isn't that interesting. i always figured he was called "blue" because he was a cop car and the whole connection to police and the color blue. lol

I really love these but am holding out for the Hasbro Versions

Really hope Hasbro Brings out Sideswipe, Red Alert , these 3 datsun guys and the tapes, including Lazer beak ( but separate from soundwave )

After the ridiculously difficult and stessful experience of trying to find Hasbro's MP-10 at retail, I'm happy to pay more for the Takara version, especially for these smaller ones. I'm sure Hasbro would sell them for less but I doubt the availability would be any better than the last few MPs.
