Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

Volunteers wanted: Help with official Myth Wars comics!

Postby MetalSamamon » Sun May 14, 2006 3:24 pm

Greetings one and all!

I'm officially asking for any and all volunteers to help shinmusashi44, TGping and I!

We need volunteers for some pitch-books for IDW at Botcon 2006!

Here's the situation:

A few days ago; I met Don Figueroa at a comic signing in Minnesota. He's on this forum; and saw the Myth Wars sketches.

He said that he really liked them; and suggested to me that I make a pitch-book and present it to IDW at Botcon 2006!

shinmusashi44 has already begun working on the books (since he knows how to make them).

Here's where you come in:

We need colorists; inkers; & letterers for the books.

We are looking for people to do alternate covers for the books; so if you're interested in doing cover(s) for them; please post here!!

Requirements are:

-Able to do really high-quality work (not necessarily perfect; but damn good :P ).
-Able to perform your task on a deadline (before the Botcon show in September; and in accordance with the other members of the project).
-While it's not necessarily a requirement; it always helps if you are attending Botcon as well.

We are looking for more than one for each position; so if a position has been filled; you can always chip in too! :D

Please post here if you are willing and able to volunteer for this.

Thanks again!

I'd like to help with inking, but haven't done it in a little while, so how about someone email me a scan and I'll ink a page so you guys can deside if I'm qualified enough.
till all are one.

Thanks for the reply! :D

I'll PM shin right now and see if he has a scan available for you. I do not have one to give you; or I'd send it to you myself.

So far, shin and I have been working together on panel layouts. The stories are shin's; and I've been doing the majority of the editing.

I can say that I have no formal art education; then again I'm not the artist  .

Seriously though, I have only the background experience of writing fanfics and writing a couple of actual comic-formatted stories. I also have my exacting attention to detail, punctuation, spelling, and correct sentence formatting.

I know that my own stories have some errors; I will admit; but then again I'm re-reading my own stories; and I tend to miss stuff because I know that it's supposed to be there when it isn't. I don't do that on other people's stories however.

As for shin and TGping; I can not speak for them. I have no clue what experience either of them have, formal and/or otherwise.

I hope that answers your question.

The pages i have so far are just sketches (story boards) so it would n't really show your abilites to ink. But i can send to one of the dinobot panels without the word bubbles to ink. Just let me know.

I would also like to offer my assistance as a colorist. I would love to see some of the characters and ideas here to really turn into something. As far as experience goes, I have an AA in art, and an AS in Digital Animation. I don't really have any comic book experience other than using "How to draw Comics the Marvel way" in some of the drawing classes I've taught. Here are some samples of drawings I've colored.
Lio Sabre by Shin, G2 Laser Rod Prime by Cosmitron, God Ginrai by Joe NG, and Star Convoy Vs Galvatron by REX 203.

ok everyone, I've got some really good news. I found a site that does self-publishing comics. The site seems to be the best thing on earth :P . You send them the files of the pages (which you can make up to 52 page comics) then they make up a proof comic. A proof comic is a pre-comic that you look over to see if theres any errors. Then you contact them back for how many issues you want, if the proof comic was ok. Tehy print in B&W and color. For the cost it's $18 for the proof (which at a real comic printing place cost up to $30-$40 for just the proof) then after that its just $2.44 to print each issue. Which isn't really that much at all. If you think about it, its just around $20 to make a full color issue of you very own comic. Its cost thousands of dollars at the real places. Also they'll sell the comic on their site for free  . You just set the price you want, and bam! it's sent out to whoever wants to buy it. Its so freaking awesome. So since this is so cheap, so things have changed, for the better that is. Im gonna also be adding a profile book to the line up.(im not sure though if the art must be re-drawn onto comic size paper, or maybe inlarged to the size they need. im gonna try to email them to find out.) So it'll get all those writers something to do. Alot of art is already done, so we just need to bios to go with them. There's still some planning to do with this. But i'll talk to MS about it. So if any of you do any writing let me know. I will also be posting this up at the other sites that have the myth wars threads. But you guys here always get the first picks and such with this project. Also myself or MS will be giving these out at Botcon this year.

Cool! Good luck with your project. Sounds like it will turn out good.

I wonder if someone like Josh/God Fire Convoy would be willing to help, or if it's too much work even if he were inspired to help... he does coloring professionally. I would definately like to see someone do justice to this.

I might get involved with coloring too. I've been really working on my coloring skills lately. It's always a good idea to have multiple colorists. Saves time.

I can also make you a real fancy Myth Wars logo for the cover if you want. I've been getting extremely good at doing those lately. Check the official Kitbash Awards sig for an example. I made the Transtopia logo used in it.

Here's another, flashier example of my logo making skills. Don't take this as an example of normal coloring though. I used this pic to try out a new coloring technique.

Ok here's the storyboards ive done up. Remember these are JUST storyboards for what ideas i have for page layouts. If you see anything i should change to make it flow better, please let me know. Some panel im not sure about, so they may change but for the most part this is what i want to do. Also there is a page 0 thats not shown, that shows the bots in a small ship crashing on earth. But i'll do that up later. And the bots show up at around page 12.

Well all I know is that I have to finish Myth Galvy soon; otherwise I can just help out with alternate covers (just pencils and inks).

Good luck guys.

I plan to present mine and Billy's book at the con but he's been MIA lately.

In any case. if you get a deal make sure to let me know and I'll support every update on the main news page.

Wish you all the best guys and Shin, nice pages. I'm glad they're just Story boards because some of the faces could use a bit of tweeking.

NOOOOOO!
